Around the United States, peace groups are engaged in effective campaigns against proposed new military installations, local funding of weapons companies, and the routine destruction of the environment and of workers' health by such companies. Activists are building better media outlets, educating young people, educating old people, keeping military testing and recruiting out of schools, and discouraging the Army from building real-weapon video arcades in shopping malls. But when it comes to stopping our wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, our citizens are less clear how to go about it.

Following on the heels of the release of the movie MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS, a new TV project about a CIA "remote viewing" unit is in the works, according to a Nov. 3 article in VARIETY. Widespread interest in the topic of remote viewing has grown steadily since information about Project STARGATE emerged in the 1990s. The "Goats" movie deals with a wide range of human development methods that were explored in a U.S. Army activity. Remote viewing-type capabilities and the nature of human consciousness were part of these efforts.

In 1972, the US NAVY recovered a secret from the ocean floor. Today, it is possible to confirm from the record that the dives took place -- at the correct depth, and in the approximate location of the sunken Russian submarine K-129. According to the best information available, the K-129 was at least partially raised from the bottom in July 1974 by the CIA Glomar Explorer. Whatever had been recovered by the US NAVY during the 1972 Trieste II dive had been locked into a commandeered cold food storage locker and placed under armed guard for the long journey home.
Twenty years later, Dan T. Smith would have a close encounter with strangeness.
