President Barack Obama faces his own dilemmas on the subject of Afghan policy. Should he go for reconstruction or counter-terrorism? Since reconstruction is impossible without control, he has to beef up the ability of the allied troops in Afghanistan to handle the Taliban aggression. The US army chief in Afghanistan, General McChrystal says 40,000 more American troops are needed, but that balks the Pakistan army on other counts. The last time the Taliban came under pressure from the American troops they made a beeline for Pakistan. When the additional troops put pressure on the Taliban they will retreat into Pakistani territory for regrouping and in the process negate the success achieved in the Tribal Areas by the Pakistan army. Clearly, both sides are pointing to the same weaknesses that they actually share. The only way is to coordinate and tackle the menace jointly.

In the case of Islam some western scholars have found that because of its Prophet´s fusion of military and spiritual authority and because Quranic laws are deemed to be final the space for democratic debate for the formation of secular laws does not exist in Muslim societies. Iran has come very close to create a nuclear massive destraction capability. This with their tested long range missiles should be a Huge Threat to the Hummanity. We have been very late in taking most serious measures to stop this. If we don't do it successfuly then we will be accountable, for what will happen next. Nobel Prizze for Peace is good, but when diplomatic efforts do not give results for peace, then war is the continuation of diplomacy in order to stop the worst case scenarios.

As soon as Al-Shabab took over Kismayo last week from Hizbul Islam, they started implementing their strict version of the Islamic law by carrying out amputations on three men accused of robbery in southern Somalia. In Kismayo Al-Shabab masked men used machetes to cut off the limps of those three men whom were not allowed to appeal or have access to lawyers.
