"Modern Slavs, both Bulgarians and Macedonians, cannot establish a link with antiquity, as the Slavs entered the Balkans centuries after the demise of the ancient Macedonian kingdom. Only the most radical Slavic factions—mostly émigrés in the United States, Canada, and Australia—even attempt to establish a connection to antiquity... Eugene Borza, "Macedonia Redux", University of California Press, 1999.
It is precisely in their attempt to create a non existing connection with antiquity that the pseudomakedonists reach the crescendo of their irrationality, achieving scholarly absurdity. It is in the prolific writings of the FYROM folk personality ("I am highly educated historian and a writer from European country Republic of Macedonia") but untrained in History "historian" professor Aleksandar Donchevic (Donski) that Skopje's pseudomakedonist regime has found its purest celebrity propagandist. He is the author of, among many others, "The Genealogical Lineage between Certain American Presidents and the Dynasty of Alexander the Great and Other Macedonian Dynasties".
"The book [we are told] uncovers indisputable evidence and offers proof that no fewer than eleven U.S. presidents have been partially of ancient Macedonian ancestry: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, William Taft, Grover Cleveland, Warren Harding, Franklin Roosevelt, Richard Nixon, George Herbert Walker Bush, and the current president George Walker Bush."
While we try to hold our tears of excitement and jubilation back, having just been informed that George W. Bush is a blue blooded descendant of the Mapedonski dynasty of the fabled Czar of the Proto-Slavs Aleksandar Veliki ("the Great" in Bugarski) the Makedonski, what will instead concern us here is the list of the ancient names that professor Aleksandar Donchevic (Donski) considers to be Slavomacedonian.
Not that a list of fifty five names would prove anything about the ethnicity of any people, but since they are brought forward, we will study them. We will expose each and every name on his quassi-macedonian name list to be a naive attempt at yugo-Slavic folk etymology at best, or a south Balkan nationalist propaganda fraud emanating from FYROM at worst.
