BIRMINGHAM, AL—Joyce White Vance, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama, Charles E. Regan, Acting Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Reginael McDaniel, Special Agent in Charge, Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation Division, announce that a federal jury returned a verdict finding GREGORY JOHN KATOPODIS guilty on 97 counts of mail and wire fraud in connection with his scheme to defraud and steal over $162,000 from Jefferson County and from Computer Help for Kids (CHK), a Jefferson County based charity.
"This verdict is especially appropriate and just given the egregious nature of the defendant´s crimes.

Despite increasing foreclosures, and a real estate market that is characterized by more burst than boom, Huntsville Alabama real estate market seems to be immune from the turbulences experienced by other areas in the County. With BRAC expecting to generate over 10,000 jobs in the not to distant future and Huntsville being home of the second largest research park in the country, homes and subdivisions in the North Alabama area are developing at a dizzying speed.
This, however, doesn’t organically translate to an automatic boon for real estate agents.

An elementary school science teacher, who's a Democrat nominee for the legislature, got a slap on the wrist from school officials when he showed 8th grade students a vulgar slide show that repeatedly refers to President Bush, members of his staff and conservative personalities as ?a--holes.?
The teacher's presentation also included the "S-word" and showed someone ?flipping a bird.?
Steve White of West Limestone High School in Lester, Alabama, got off with only a ?slap on the wrist,? according to the Athens local newspaper, the News Courier.
The video is in a slideshow format accompanied by a song that repeatedly uses obscenities. Along with images of Bush, the show includes Secretary of State Condolezza Rice, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, columnist Ann Coulter and Fox News Channel hosts Sean Hannity and Bill O?Reilly, according to reporter Landon Howell, who viewed the video.

Alabama is the latest state to pass a law to counter a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that allows local governments to seize homes for private development.
The high court's June ruling said condemnation of private property solely for economic development was constitutional, but the court left the door open for states to limit the use of eminent domain for economic development.
Alabama state Sen. Jack Biddle sponsored the bill to prevent property seizures in the state, USA Today reported.
"We don't like anybody messing with our dogs, our guns, our hunting rights or trying to take property from us," Biddle said.
Delaware also has changed its property rights law, and legislatures in at least eight other states have similar debates under way.
