Project STAR GATE return on investment huge for Americans
As we look for ways to make more intelligent choices about defense expenditures and trim wasteful and inefficient spending, the joint-service and joint-agency funding of Project STAR GATE might serve as an example of obtaining tremendous return on investment from defense dollars. From the initial research phases to implementation of operational activities, several code names were given to this secret project on human consciousness. It was begun the mid-1970s and continued through the mid-1990s.
Appropriate security on UFOs probably 2-way street
If some unidentified flying objects (UFOs) are related to intelligent visitors from elsewhere, what is the impact on national security and global security? This is a question that may have faced U.S. and international officials at least since the World War II era. Wartime security and secrecy procedures probably would have been implemented in such a case.
'Dumbed down' approaches needed for White House UFO petitions?
Petitions to the White House asking for the release of more information about unidentified flying objects (UFOs) have stirred up controversy, curiosity and hope for improved public understanding about the UFO phenomena. Some observers seem to think the petitions are dumb, especially if they associate UFOs with some kinds of intelligent beings from elsewhere.
US space activities evolving – will efforts help Americans?
The end of the space shuttle era brings new challenges and opportunities for American activities in space. These hopeful developments occur in an overall economic downturn that has caused immense suffering by many American families who have lost jobs, seen the value of their homes crushed and in many cases lost their homes. Many Americans may fairly and honestly ask if investments in the evolving U.S. space activities will give a return on investment.
Extraterrestrials curious about American football?
Two recent incidents being reported in the media involve unidentified objects flying through the air near U.S. football games. If unconventional visitors were actually observing Earth close up, would they be interested in human social behavior, such as humans watching a sports event together in outdoor stadiums? Maybe they would wonder if these public venues are reasonable places to make themselves seen, as part of a more open contact with humans.
Ohio University is much more than 'party school'
Work hard, play hard. The annual Princeton Review ranking of universities on various attributes, or lack thereof, has rated Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, the #1 "party school" in the US. Yet, if we look at the deeper and more comprehensive picture at Ohio U., there probably could be a clarification about whether students are studying hard as well as having fun and blowing off steam. The well-rounded university has a fine medical school, top mass communications programs and other respected programs in a wide range of fields.
'Roger E. Ailes Newsroom' created in 2007 at top college media program
People involved in the profession of journalism have been taking a closer look at their field in recent weeks, as have consumers of journalism and other media products. At colleges and universities that teach mass media studies, instructors and students examine how they should approach responsible news reporting. This is undoubtedly a topic at the prestigious Ohio University E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and Scripps College of Communication, home of the "Roger E. Ailes Newsroom."
'White House press briefing' on Roswell: National security, public safety, scientific understanding
The recently-published book about Area 51 brings the so-called Roswell incident to the public mind once again. It's a fascinating tale: A post-World War II U.S. Army Air Forces air field in Roswell, New Mexico, is alerted to something unusual. A local rancher far outside of town found his land littered with very odd materials. WHITE HOUSE MEDIA BRIEFING (2011): "Good morning. You know, we get inquiries from Americans on many kinds of topics, and we try to be as responsive and open as possible. As you are aware, this administration is interested in government transparency and being as straightforward with the American people as we can be, while respecting the need for discretion at times."
Highly-advanced spacecraft to replace space shuttle?
As the Space Shuttle program ends and new commercial spaceflight endeavors accelerate, some people may wonder if there is another major element of U.S. space activities – one that is top secret and the public knows little or nothing about. Rumors, reports and a bit of natural curiosity make some people wonder if the U.S. may already have spacecraft that are tremendously more advanced than the Space Shuttle.
If Roswell was extraterrestrial crash, can more details be released?
What if the incident in the Roswell, New Mexico, region in the summer of 1947 actually was a crash of an extraterrestrial craft with deceased and live "extraterrestrial biological entities (EBEs)" aboard? What if it was not a weather balloon and not an experimental high-altitude device with crash dummies inside? What if it was not a Russian psychological operations (PSYOP) plot as an Area 51 scientist says he was told, and is reported in the new book by writer Annie Jacobsen? There seem to be significant reliable indications of various kinds that the Roswell case is based on a very unusual event that was deemed to be very important at the time and in subsequent decades ... up to today.
'Inside sources' say Roswell was extraterrestrial crash
The so-called "Roswell incident" has been in the media recently due to a new book about Area 51 by writer Annie Jacobsen. In her book yet another version of the story has been put forward, this one even stranger than some of the others – if that is possible. However, the often-told and widely-known story about a crash of an extraterrestrial craft near Roswell in the summer of 1947 keeps surfacing. In April 2011 a researcher who claims to be in contact with well-placed former and current officials in the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) released an alleged statement from his DIA sources related to Roswell.
Roswell tale in Area 51 book makes sense as safety cover story
A logical explanation for the seemingly illogical story in a new book on Area 51 and Roswell may be right under our noses. Some researchers indicate that identifying sensitive foreign technology, materials and maybe even bodies as "Russian" or "Soviet" helped maintain operational security. If U.S. personnel would have reason to come into contact with certain sensitive items or situations, they could be told they were related to the U.S.S.R., our Cold War enemy at the time.
Area 51 book is thought-provoking despite doubts on Roswell case
The new book about Area 51 by writer Annie Jacobsen has triggered controversy about what actually crashed – if anything – near Roswell, New Mexico, in the summer of 1947. The explanation for the Roswell incident, reportedly from a retired scientist, that Jacobsen reports seems far-fetched to many readers. Yet, her book seems to lead many people to wonder about connections between classified defense aerospace activities and ideas about much more exotic spacecraft and technologies from "somewhere else."
What crashed at Roswell? Deceptions may include truths
A recently-published book about U.S. defense activities at southern Nevada's Groom Lake region and an unusual view of the alleged Roswell crash mystery seems to raise interesting questions. Maybe the most important of these questions is whether the American and international public is ready for more information – accurate information – about the so-called 1947 "Roswell Incident" and related circumstances.
Troops in the afterlife: Special perspectives, new missions
Some recent research into near death experiences (NDEs) has noted that U.S. troops in current combat zones who experienced a group trauma of injuries and death might also experience group NDEs. If reports and research into NDEs and the afterlife have any truth to them, we might wonder what our fallen warriors now think about their lives, their loved ones and their sacrifice. Do they have new insights and useful perspectives?
ESP may be useful in defense, health, survival, unconventional areas
Of the many kinds of so-called anomalous or unusual phenomena, the mysteries of the human mind certainly seem to be among the most interesting. For example, the extrasensory perception (ESP) techniques and processes generally called "remote viewing" have provided valuable information and insight for U.S. defense and intelligence activities. Although many of these remote viewers reportedly had better-than-average natural ESP abilities to begin with, it is also conjectured that all people have these sixth-sense perceptions too.
Human progress, Earth's future could be related to UFOs
Have we acquired advanced technologies from contact with extraterrestrials? Many credible researchers who have looked into the general topic of alleged UFO incidents and evidence say the answer is yes. Although average people might conclude that Earthly human consciousness might not be ready for more advanced technological knowledge, it could be the case that we are already engaged in this expansion of our understanding. If certain elements of governmental defense, intelligence and scientific communities have already obtained some of this advanced technology, what have they done with it?
Insight, understanding not always found in official reports, documents
Sometimes things like government documents, news accounts and scientific investigative reports don't always convey the deeper potential of forward-leaning research into human perception and awareness, as well as other interesting phenomena. For example, the open-source files on Project STAR GATE provide plenty of educational information about research into extrasensory perception (ESP), anomalous cognition, remote viewing and transcendent warfare. Much of this material seems quite helpful. And, it seems to be associated with several other types of anomalous, unconventional and leading-edge topics.
Phoenix-area Indian lands are down-to-Earth site for UFO conference
It seems to make sense that the 20th annual International UFO Congress was held on Native American Indian lands in Arizona. The conference, Wednesday, Feb. 23, through Sunday, Feb. 27, took place at the upscale Radisson Fort McDowell Resort on the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation northeast of Scottsdale. The hotel at the resort was reportedly sold out. A connection between UFOs and other unconventional phenomena with Native American Indians is something that researchers and average people may want to pay attention to and think about.
Safety probably key aspect of UFO disclosure
Public health and safety, national security, as well as human development and survival are probably some of the important elements involved in the evolving public awareness about unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and other forward-leaning studies. As many researchers, writers and creative media projects have noted, there are many possible issues involved in phenomena such as UFOs, extraterrestrial visitors, unusual creatures and life forms, multiple dimensions, an afterlife, expanded human consciousness, extrasensory perception (ESP), a higher intelligence, time-space anomalies and other topics.
Focus of UFO disclosure should be on meaningful factors
Some unidentified flying objects (UFOs) seem to many people to be "intelligently controlled physical craft of some kind from some place that is not here." That is a premise of and a quote from the new book "A.D. After Disclosure: The People's Guide to Life After Contact" by Richard M. Dolan and Bryce Zabel. These authors use a starting point that is beyond the various discussions about the question of "if" Earth humans are being visited by spacecraft and phenomena that are quite unconventional. They seem to feel that this has already been well established.
Tucson shootings, everyday life require 'situation awareness'
The tragic violence in Tucson, Arizona, and many related factors under discussion surrounding it bring up the topic of "situation awareness," also often called "situational awareness" or simply "SA." The public health and safety issues leading up to and culminating in the shootings indicate that several kinds of situation awareness were in play. These include the alleged shooter's symptoms of mental illness and might also be related to the larger social, political and media environment. Urgent SA was also a key issue during the shootings when victims and bystanders reacted.
Tucson shootings probably complex mix of factors
In the public discussions about the Tucson shootings, there has been heated debate but possibly an inadequate amount of light shed on the probable key issues involved. There seem to be many complex factors that played roles in that tragic event last Saturday morning. Was the situation due to the isolated mental health problems of one particular individual? Was it part of the Arizona and U.S. "gun culture?" Was it related to extreme adversarial language during the last election cycle? Was it part of holes in the mental health systems? It seems that the answers are yes, yes, yes and yes.
Health consciousness studies at U. of Arizona relevant in shootings?
The shootings in Tucson have resulted in broken many hearts, as President Barack Obama said last night at the University of Arizona. What resources, knowledge and information are available to help us make sense of this and other terrible situations and move forward constructively? UA is home to two forward-leaning programs. One is the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine led by well-known physician and health educator Andrew Weil, MD. The other is UA's Laboratory for Advances in Consciousness and Health led by Gary Schwartz.
Disclosure on anomalous topics not so mysterious
UFOs and extraterrestrial visitation, multiple dimensions, the afterlife, extrasensory perception (ESP) – these are just a few of many forward-leaning and edge-science topics that seem to be generating increased public interest. The natural curiosity about certain unconventional areas seems to be very understandable and appropriate. Leading-edge research into anomalous subjects can sometimes seem a bit "far out." However, in many cases it may not be much of a leap from more conventional areas of common knowledge and routine study.
UFO acclimation: 'Dark Skies' TV series DVDs released
It was a TV series ahead of its time. Consider it advance reconnaissance information. Airing on Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. in 1996 and 1997 on NBC, "Dark Skies" took viewers inside a secret U.S. government group dealing with UFOs and strange visitors. Yet, time and certain situations sometimes have a way of circling around in surprising ways. Nearly 15 years later, the series is now once again in the public consciousness and is reaching a new and expanding audience with the release of "Dark Skies: The Declassified Complete Series" DVD collection. The show features two twenty-something characters, John Loengard (played by Eric Close) and Kimberly Sayers (Megan Ward), who come to Washington, D.C., from California in 1961.
Southwest's Four Corners is region of beauty, mystery, UFOs
In fiction and fact, the Four Corners area of the American Southwest has long been an area associated with beauty, nature and mysterious phenomena. The convergence of the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah is an arid region of dramatic rock formations, fantastic canyons, vast dry plains as well as the pine-covered mountains of the Colorado's southern Rockies. American Indian nations and communities of the Navajo, Hopi, Ute and others are also found in the Four Corners. Many American Indian tribes have beliefs and legends related to unconventional phenomena. Mysteries in the area are sometimes associated with the American Indian residents, the ancient history of the region as well as secret government activities and even UFOs.
Secret UFO leaks? Journalists face responsibilities on disclosure
The recent and ongoing controversy about releases of sensitive information seems to raise both new and longstanding fundamental points about freedom of the press and the role of journalism in society. An aspect of the discussion that appears to many people as an odd side issue is the reference to unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in some documents or materials. However, this topic might serve as a unique example about the way we look at the roles of journalism, government and citizens on an issue that could be both important to know about and also require discretion and sensitivity.
UFO disclosure could involve dimension we call 'Heaven'
As scientific theories, popular discussion and significant indications about the possibility of other dimensions in our universe become more accepted, many people point out that unidentified flying objects (UFOs) could be several different kinds of phenomena possibly related to multiple dimensions. As we know, many UFO sightings involve stars, weather phenomena, conventional aircraft and probably advanced human military aircraft-spacecraft. However, some of these flying objects may very well be extraterrestrial spacecraft, some type of vehicles or other anomalous phenomena.
Open source intelligence on UFOs available online now
In recent days there has been much speculation about the possible release of information by controversial organizations about unidentified flying objects (UFOs). At the same time, it is worth noting that a robust amount of open source intelligence (OSINT) on this topic is already available online, in books and via other communications platforms. It is true that some information is unreliable. However, there are also websites and other sources that appear to be highly reliable and credible. Two such online sites that seem worth exploring are AfterDisclosure.com and MajesticDocuments.com.
Advances in human consciousness linked to UFO disclosure
When we think about human readiness to deal with significant new scientific discoveries, we often think about conventional psychological and emotional preparedness of individuals, groups and societies. For example, the issue of unidentified flying objects (UFOs), other non-human intelligent beings on Earth and similar subjects often result in reactions such as uncertainty, anxiety, curiosity and denial. Our self-esteem and self-perception are also part of the natural reactions to certain leading-edge and forward-leaning theories, possibilities, indications and discoveries.
Book 'A.D. After Disclosure' explores UFO mysteries, human race
A new book by a historian and a Hollywood writer-producer about the complex issues of the UFO situation seems to be both radical and conservative, vast in scope and specific in detail. This book provides a valuable, mind-expanding look at a significant scientific and cultural issue facing us today. It is not just about more disclosure on UFOs. It is also a solid look at the current state of American and global society and the human race on our planet. The book helps us examine where humanity has been, where we are now and where we are going.
Disclosure, 'breakthrough event' could change humanity, Earth
A significant development or event that has constructive effects on the human race is sometimes the topic of theories and hopes. Some viewpoints propose that this will be the result of tipping points of various kinds related to human progress and improved human consciousness. In the new NBC TV show "The Event," we don't really know what it will be. That program seems to dovetail with the idea of "UFO disclosure" – that extraterrestrial, inter-dimensional, time-traveling or some other kinds of intelligent beings will make more open contact with humanity, or there will be some public acknowledgment of this situation. Other views hold that a breakthrough event would be of a more grassroots kind of development. It would not necessarily come from an external source, but would be related to that which is inside human beings or inside our natural environment in some way.
Disclosure not just about UFOs – other mysteries too
When we read and hear about "UFO disclosure" it may seem that this is the main unknown of our era. It may be. Yet, there are other scientific mysteries that are also very interesting and may be equally important. In fact, these other anomalous phenomena could be related to the UFO situation. For example, the idea of multiple dimensions is gaining credibility among physicists and mathematicians. Another mystery is extrasensory perception (ESP), sometimes called anomalous cognition. And then there are space-time phenomena that seem to connect events, people, times and places in ways that don't always make logical sense to us.
'Dark Skies' TV series about UFOs, ETs now on DVD
A special DVD collection of the 1996-1997 extraterrestrial and UFO-related NBC TV series "Dark Skies" is scheduled for release in the U.S. on Jan. 18, 2011. "Dark Skies" follows a young congressional staff member, John Loengard, as he comes to Washington, D.C., during the period from 1961 to 1967. When Loengard (played by Eric Close) is recruited into a secret government UFO agency, he and his girlfriend (Megan Ward) find themselves in the strange world of extraterrestrial invaders and government operatives trying to deal with the challenging situation.
New book 'A.D. After Disclosure' – adjusting to UFO truths
Can we handle the truth about UFOs? And what exactly are those truths? What are the impacts on societies, the international community, humanity and planet Earth? What adjustments will be needed and made? These are just a few of the questions explored in the newly-published book "A.D. After Disclosure: The People's Guide to Life After Contact" by Richard M. Dolan and Bryce Zabel. According to an Oct. 21 press release, the book is "speculative non-fiction."
Further UFO disclosure requires readiness, teamwork
Over the decades and in recent years and months, many military officers have come forward with solid information about unusual unidentified flying objects (UFOs). In many cases, the information includes direct sightings and experiences. In other reports, intelligence information on UFO incidents was compiled, and tentative or limited conclusions reached by very senior military officers. For UFO disclosure to continue to unfold, there will probably need to be ongoing teamwork among various aspects of society. Citizens, media, public safety personnel, professionals of all kinds, educators, government officials and others will need to work together as a team.
'Close Encounters' landing zone: UFOs and American Indians
In the 1977 movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," with its amazing ending at Devils Tower, Wyoming, there were many references to real incidents and situations. For example, the police chase across the Ohio-Indiana state line resembled real police incidents in that general region. In "Close Encounters" the mysterious red-suited team of 12 Americans parallels claims about a secret mission called "Project SERPO" that sent 12 U.S. military personnel to another planet with extraterrestrial visitors. But is there more about Devils Tower that we can learn about? Native American Indians had a very different name for this unusual geological formation. To the Lakota and Cheyenne, it was "Bear Lodge."
Human mind and UFOs: Dilemmas and dangers
The psychological factors surrounding the topic of UFOs and visitors to Earth from elsewhere seem to involve complex circumstances. One example may be the paradoxes of UFO sightings. Often, people see something in the sky that looks odd and may jump to the conclusion that it could be something very, very unusual such as a spacecraft of some kind. In other cases, something truly anomalous is seen, often by multiple reliable witnesses, and the sighting is explained away as something natural or a misperception. When people may spot a top-secret advanced military aircraft, they reportedly are allowed to believe it is an alien spaceship. And when people see other kinds of very unusual craft that don't appear to be human-built at all, they may be told that it is simply an advanced secret military plane.
UFO disclosure has happened! Did you notice?
Maybe it has happened with a whisper, not a major public announcement or event. Maybe the tipping point was the recent publication of journalist Leslie Kean's book "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record" or a recent press conference by retired Air Force officers. Or, it could have been the steady release of information through discreet ways via Hollywood movies, TV shows and other communications platforms over the past months, years and decades. We now seem to be in the period that could reasonably be called "after disclosure."
Space planes compete with UFOs on suborbital flights
Is there room in Earth's orbit for both extraterrestrial spacecraft and a new wave of human commercial space planes and space stations? UFO pilots will need to keep an eye out for a new generation of commercial space planes that will soon be taking passengers into space on suborbital trips above Earth's atmosphere. Commercial spaceports have already been started and more are being considered. Boeing's new CST-100 space capsule will have room for seven passengers and will be launched atop rockets now in development. "Avatar" producer-director James Cameron went on a low-gravity flight on Oct. 9 called the ZERO-G Experience to raise money for the space-related X PRIZE Foundation.
Adequate preparedness of public on UFOs, discoveries?
According to some researchers, one important reason for security about UFOs is the concern that information related to this topic could be upsetting or too disorienting for the general public. The situation could be more complex than simply one intelligent civilization traveling to Earth from their home planet to make contact with humans. The situation could involve new discoveries about multiple dimensions and inter-dimensional travel and phenomena. It could relate to time and space operating in ways that are surprising to us. Some researchers theorize that since the World War II era there may have been efforts to prepare and acclimate people about these kinds of new discoveries.
Many factors in UFO reports, including 'jellyfish' appearance
People who have sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) sometimes report discs or saucers, V-shaped craft, glowing orbs and many other kinds of unusual things in the skies. Sometimes the objects are said to appear metallic and other times an anomalous energy or light is reported. One of the more unusual kinds of descriptions includes witness reports of something that appears like a "jellyfish." What are UFOs and why would they have such diverse appearance? Are they different kinds of technology or different kinds of phenomena altogether? And, could any of these possibly advanced craft and the equally possible intelligent beings who might be associated with them help humanity and Earth?
'Jellyfish' witness description of UFO significant?
Citizens who witnessed something that appeared to be unusual in the sky over the Chelsea area of New York City on Oct. 13, 2010, do not seem to agree on what they saw. However, one witness was quoted as saying he thought the object or objects seemed to resemble "a jellyfish made of lights." This description may be significant. There have been witnesses in other cases in the UK, Texas and Ohio in 2008 and 2009 where witnesses described an appearance of an object that looked like a "jellyfish," "octopus" or something with "tentacles." Researcher Ray Stanford, a pioneer in studies of UFOs by use of optical and electronic instrument systems, said about previous similar UFO reports in the UK and Ohio in 2008 and 2009 that this tentacle-like effect is "most often and readily visible when a craft is either slowing down or moving very slowly over an uneven surface" and may have been "constantly changing, torque-generating plasma beams" related to an exotic propulsion system.
New ideas, ancient views may explain UFOs, odd phenomena
There seem to be many indications that modern humans are discovering or rediscovering knowledge and understanding that were known to ancient people. One example might be the research into extrasensory perception (ESP). Historically, other cultures have also believed that humans can perceive information from within, using what we might call intuition, instinct, gut feelings or visions. For example, Native American Indians had "vision quests" and other kinds of activities to help them perceive in different ways. Another possibly-related field of investigation is the inquiry into concepts about multiple dimensions in our universe.
Commercial space travel: New perspectives for humanity
Will the human species continue to gain greater insight and new perspectives about planet Earth and the universe as we enter the new era of commercial space activities? Commercial space travel continues to move forward with the recent announcement by Boeing that it will partner with a firm called Space Adventures. Boeing´s Crew Space Transportation-100 (CST-100) capsule is envisioned as having room for seven passengers and Space Adventures will help promote, market and sell seats aboard it. Boeing has also teamed with Bigelow Aerospace, a Las Vegas-based company that has acquired NASA-designed concepts for expandable, flexible-hulled habitat modules that will be used in low Earth orbit space stations.
Space travel could advance with UFO technologies
Early American and Russian efforts at space travel in the 1960s are now a distant memory for many people around the world. Now, decades later, we now find ourselves near the end of the Space Shuttle era and ready to take the next steps. Meanwhile, some people speculate that behind the scenes, the U.S. may have already developed highly-advanced spacecraft that are top secret. These spacecraft could be years or decades in advance of where the public thinks we are. There are also rumors that some of this technology acquired from crashed extraterrestrial spacecraft or contact with extraterrestrial beings.
Journalism evolving on leading-edge science, UFOs
The journalism craft and profession continues to rise to new standards of quality and maturity in the coverage of leading-edge scientific developments, including the uniquely puzzling topic of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). The most recent incident involving a UFO near a Chinese airport and a press conference in Washington, D.C., Sept. 27, 2010, involving the testimony of several former U.S. Air Force officers about UFOs near military bases led to mixed though generally responsible and professional news media coverage.
Unusual visitors in NBC's 'The Event,' alleged intelligence case
The new NBC TV series "The Event" proposes that there are human-like, human-looking or unusually unique and different humans who are operating in our society. In the real-life research into the UFO and extraterrestrial visitation topics, some reports claim that there are certain visitors from elsewhere who look very human. In April 2010, an alleged report claimed to be from within the U.S. defense and intelligence community described a case of the investigation, surveillance, apprehension and "deportation" of a human-looking extraterrestrial.
Earth before 'The Event' and 'After Disclosure' worth discussing
The new NBC TV series "The Event" and the upcoming book "A.D. After Disclosure: The People's Guide to Life After Contact" both appear to trigger constructive and necessary thinking about the effects that unconventional developments might, or will have on the U.S. and societies around the world. As we learn more about the possibility or probability that we are being visited by intelligent beings from elsewhere, responsible people must consider the impacts on our people and human cultures globally. To maintain reasonable stability in the face of surprising situations, leaders at many levels may want to update their information.
Truths on UFOs explored in press conference, NBC's 'The Event'
Fact and fiction seem to have been merging and emerging in recent weeks as NBC launched the TV series "The Event" and former U.S. Air Force officers held a press conference about UFOs apparently conducting surveillance on, and interfering with U.S. nuclear weapons. Both the new NBC series and the press briefing describe scenarios involving visitation to Earth by what appear to be extraterrestrials or some other kind of beings.
Defense, intelligence communities face UFO challenges
To explore the current situation regarding possible visitation to Earth of intelligent beings from other planets and/or other dimensions, some people say we should look back to, at least, the 1940s. According to many researchers, during the World War II era a mysterious phenomenon began to show itself – unidentified objects in the sky, sometimes near military aircraft. American air crews nicknamed the objects "foo fighters."
Can UFO-acquired technologies help the U.S. economy?
According to some researchers, over the past five decades or so the U.S. government may have been able to acquire advanced technologies from crashed, donated or otherwise obtained extraterrestrial vehicles. It seems unclear if this could be true or if various kinds of exotic devices might also have been procured that could vastly enhance energy production, health care, aviation, space programs, manufacturing, electronics, engineering, agriculture and other economically-significant activities.
Journalism tipping point: Media coverage of UFOs now serious
The comprehensive and credible news coverage of a unique press briefing this week indicates that the topics of UFOs and extraterrestrial visitation to Earth are now a reasonable subject of serious journalism. When former Air Force officers presented credible information in Washington last Monday about unidentified aerial objects in close proximity to sensitive U.S. military facilities, American newspapers, magazines, TV networks and media organizations of all kinds generally covered the story in professional ways. Is it a real paradigm shift for responsible and mature journalistic coverage of this unconventional topic?
Arizona plays role in NBC's 'The Event' – UFO cases involved?
Interesting links to Arizona surfaced in the second episode of NBC's new metaphysical suspense series "The Event" that aired Monday evening, Sept. 27. Audiences quickly learned that an airliner filled with passengers had disappeared over Florida because it had apparently been teleported using some kind of advanced technology. Viewers also soon discovered that the plane was coming in for a rough belly landing in a desert region near Yuma, Arizona.
Novel describes secret meeting, anti-gravity and UFO incidents
Leading-edge research into human consciousness and other forward-leaning topics continues to produce interesting results. There are sensitive and sometimes unconventional topics that are reportedly the focus of scientific, defense and intelligence community interest. Many of these subjects are also naturally of interest to the general public, journalists and the media as a whole. And, there has been speculation that some people feel that the appropriate amount and type of disclosure and education are important, while others believe certain information should remain secret.
More to NBC's 'The Event' than ETs, UFOs – more than meets the eye
A few of the puzzle pieces from several advance video clips and trailers came together in the premiere episode of NBC's "The Event" on Monday, Sept. 20. Yet, not surprisingly, new questions and mysteries emerged. Foremost in many viewers' minds: Who are the 90-plus detainees being held at a secret U.S. facility in Alaska? Some speculation has focused on extraterrestrials, beings from another dimension or time travelers. Are they human, related to Earth humans or do they just appear human? Or, are they humans with special knowledge and abilities?
NBC's 'The Event' part of UFO, ET disclosure, acclimation?
It's above top secret, need-to-know and classified for compartmented security clearance only. No, it's not the real-life fields of leading-edge research into UFOs and extraterrestrial visitation, quantum physics discoveries, human consciousness or possible paradigm shifts for humanity – we're talking about the new NBC TV series "The Event." When "The Event" begins on Monday, Sept. 20, viewers will be in for a wild ride of conspiracy and very strange happenings.
Journalism makes news with coverage of UFOs, ETs
The subject of contact with intelligent extraterrestrial beings seems to steadily be gaining more credibility in mainstream media outlets, thanks to increasingly responsible journalism. In the Sunday edition of Phoenix's The Arizona Republic daily newspaper, an excerpt from the new book by journalist Leslie Kean was printed in the "Viewpoints" section of the paper. Kean's book "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record" has been praised by scientists and others who have looked carefully at this subject.
Public, media views evolving on UFOs, unusual phenomena
The publication of the new book "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record" by journalist Leslie Kean and the upcoming book "A.D. After Disclosure: The People's Guide to Life After Contact" by researchers and writers Richard Dolan and Bryce Zabel (slated for publication in October) have provided increased focus on this interesting topic. There are many perspectives about possible visitation to Earth of intelligent beings from elsewhere. These viewpoints span a range of viewpoints, from people who think there is little reasonable evidence to those who conclude that there are very significant indications that this has occurred and is ongoing.
'Gravity' movie, Natalie Portman could explore human mind, space, UFOs
The movie project that has offered the lead role of stranded astronaut to Natalie Portman has the potential to delve into many interesting areas that are both familiar and on the leading edge of understanding about human consciousness and space. Space psychology, human consciousness, modern "weird physics," leading-edge discoveries about space and time, as well as unconventional space phenomena such as UFOs and extraterrestrial beings are just a few of the fascinating and important areas that Alfonso Cuaron's planned "Gravity" film could explore.
Telluride Film Festival held near Durango, 1948 Aztec UFO crash
The 37th Annual Telluride Film Festival, beginning Friday, Sept. 4, through Labor Day, continues to be a unique event that brings the filmmaking community and film-loving viewers to the spectacular San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado. Apart from the beauty and fun of the area, according to some UFO researchers it was the jumping-off point for a secret team of officials and scientists who investigated a crashed spacecraft in 1948 (possibly in March) just south of Durango in Aztec, New Mexico.
Upcoming book 'After Disclosure' is guide to UFOs, ET contact
Researchers and readers of all kinds are looking forward to the October 2010 publication of the new book "A.D. After Disclosure: The People's Guide to Life After Contact" by Richard Dolan and Bryce Zabel. The two authors have robust backgrounds in writing and research about UFOs and extraterrestrial visitation to Earth. Dolan's multi-volume "UFOs and the National Security State" explores the complex and multi-faceted aspects of this fascinating subject. Zabel is a former CNN journalist and now Hollywood writer and producer.
Texas 'UFO' was part of camera function?
The unusual image taken by an outdoor motion-triggered, infrared "game camera" in Texas may not have been a hovering Frisbee-shaped UFO as the camera's owner first thought. Further analysis now indicates the image was due to an aspect of camera's function. TV station KXAS-NBC 5 in Fort Worth reported about the odd photo on Aug. 25, 2010, and other media outlets carried the story along with the photo, in which a horizontal line of lights seemed to be in the background.
Journalist Tim Russert's 2007 UFO question to candidates resonates
When NBC journalist Tim Russert passed on in June 2008, his colleagues, friends, family and the public said goodbye – or at least "until we meet again" – to a respected and loved individual. Now may be an appropriate time to revisit his interesting question on Oct. 30, 2007, during the Democratic presidential candidates' debate. Russert asked Ohio congressman Dennis Kucinich about an unidentified flying object (UFO) that Kucinich had reportedly witnessed.
NBC News space writer: New UFO book wrong on pilot reports
An Aug. 27, 2010, commentary by NBC News space analyst James Oberg about the new book by journalist Leslie Kean, "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record," seems thought-provoking. The article, posted on MSNBC.com, is titled "UFO book based on questionable foundation." Oberg is a 22-year veteran of Houston's NASA Mission Control in Houston and has written books himself on the subjects of space exploration and space policy.
UFO over Texas: Camera snaps hovering 'Frisbee' with lights
Dallas-Fort Worth TV station KXAS, NBC 5, reported on Aug. 25, 2010, that a local resident´s infrared game camera, used to photograph deer and animals moving through the property, had caught something very unusual. KXAS reporter Omar Villafranca's account of Lisa Brock-Piekarski's game camera explained that it photographed its intended target, a deer. But, the camera also picked up a very strange sight, apparently hovering over the landscape.
O'Hare airport UFO case noted on 'Colbert Report' show
The 2006 O'Hare airport UFO incident came up in the Aug. 23, 2010, "Colbert Report" TV show when host Stephen Colbert interviewed journalist Leslie Kean about her new book, "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record." That incident does seem to be a good example of the many cases when multiple credible witnesses saw something distinctly unique and highly unusual. The case made headlines back on Jan. 1, 2006.
Military, civilian pilots are key part of UFO mysteries
Thousands of sighting of unusual unidentified flying objects (UFOs) have been reported by civilian and military pilots from around the world over past decades. It is probably safe to assume that many more pilot sightings have gone unreported, due to the risks to pilots' reputations and jobs. Some may have been counseled that it would be best to forget what they saw.
Prominent journalist not up to speed on UFO situation?
Journalists who have a reputation as solid investigators with open minds, common sense and constructive viewpoints may show excessive arrogance when it comes to unconventional phenomena such as UFOs, advanced human awareness (extrasensory perception) and other leading-edge areas of research. A case in point is the Aug. 20, 2010, column by David Corn, posted on PoliticsDaily.com, in his "Deep Background" article titled "Where Are All the UFO Photos?"
Journalist's new book, planned movie examine UFO questions
Two new examinations of the UFO situation may provide increased insight and understanding for much larger audiences. Journalist Leslie Kean's book UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record goes on sale Aug. 10, 2010, and is being praised as thorough and professional reporting on this mysterious topic. The planned feature film Majic Men is based on the research and books of physicist Stanton Friedman and investigator Donald R. Schmitt. Producers Don Most and Bryce Zabel are helping lead this project.
UFOs, extraterrestrials, edge science explored on updated website
A longstanding website that explores unconventional and leading-edge phenomena was recently redesigned and updated. UFODigest.com, based in Ontario, Canada, launched its new version in an effort to continue present "in-depth and quality research and resources on the UFO phenomenon," the site notes. "This website aims to raise awareness about the UFO phenomenon, and to show the extent of serious, quality and scientific information and evidence available on the subject."
Bigelow Aerospace's new website enhances view of space efforts
The website of Bigelow Aerospace has been enhanced with a new design and more informative, fascinating features. BigelowAerospace.com now provides updated information on their "next generation commercial space stations" and the many operational components of the company's past, current and future endeavors. As the website notes, NASA's Commercial Crew Development program is partnering with a range of private companies to develop the resources to take commercial space travel to the next level in safe, cost-effective and innovative ways. Bigelow Aerospace is now an integral part of the mix with its expandable space station modules.
Extraterrestrials and UFOs: Disclosure, acclimation, security work together
Researchers and people interested in the field of UFOs and possible visitation to Earth by other intelligent beings sometimes seem to feel that information disclosure and information security are mutually exclusive. This might not be the case. In fact, security, public acclimation and readiness could be part of the disclosure process. One case may serve as an example. A former U.S. Air Force counterintelligence agent was alleged to have been involved in information security about the UFO phenomena and was also reportedly involved in some elements of a public acclimation process.
What would public readiness officer say on UFOs, extraterrestrials, edge science?
Amid the research into alleged UFOs, extraterrestrial visitation, unusual intelligences, weird physics, expanded human consciousness, other dimensions and similar kinds of edge-science topics, there is also the element of public acclimation or public preparedness. Some researchers have indicated that certain individuals and groups may have been working for several decades to gradually get us ready to face some of these interesting and surprising developments.
UFO, extraterrestrial disclosure linked to public readiness
After more the 210,000 page views of the April 26, 2010, article "Human-looking ETs secretly in U.S.?" it seems clear that there is significant public interest in the topic of possible extraterrestrial visitation to Earth, UFOs and equally possible activities of the U.S. defense and intelligence communities regarding these topics. The article was about an account of a reported effort by U.S. authorities – Operation TANGO-SIERRA – to investigate a human-looking extraterrestrial who had made contact with a federal employee. Are people who consider tales like this too gullible? Or, are they open-minded and increasingly aware of highly unusual possibilities?
Journalism's dilemma – covering weird science, UFOs, extraterrestrials
Today's journalists, whether they are working in print media, online platforms or both, face new challenges and opportunities. More and more people are realizing that some of the most important issues of the day are what could be called unconventional science or unusual emerging developments. A large and growing awareness in the national and international public about leading-edge and forward-leaning research and discovery is changing the views of serious professional journalists.
Beyond UFOs and extraterrestrials: Human consciousness
The apparent growing awareness of the possibility or probability that we are being visited by extraterrestrial and other unconventional intelligences seems to pose some important questions. These questions take us beyond the discussion about if we are being visited or if UFOs are exotic spacecraft of some kind. Anyone of average intelligence who has done a moderate amount of research on the subject can safely conclude that something along these lines is going on. If we were to request a "SitRep," a situation report, about where we find ourselves, what would it say? What really is going on? How does it affect us? What might happen in the future? How will we adjust to a changing reality?
UFOs, extraterrestrials invade 1800s Arizona in 'Cowboys and Aliens' movie
While the people of a small Arizona Territory town in 1873 are busy battling regional Apaches, hostile extraterrestrials attack and unite the warring humans in the movie project "Cowboys and Aliens." Will the foreign invaders try to push the humans off their land using advanced technology and weapons? Do the extraterrestrials regard the Earthlings as primitive savages? Maybe the humans have a higher consciousness and are better prepared to fight this unconventional conflict than the aliens expect.
Arizona: Land of beauty, mystery, UFOs and extraterrestrial visitors
Although Arizona has been in the news for the recent actions by the state legislature and governor, the state also is known for its other alien visitors – and these are not from Mexico. Arizona is home to an interesting array of locations and incidents associated with leading-edge scientific developments and even highly unusual incidents. For example, the March 13, 1997, so-called "Phoenix lights" case was clearly one of the most significant UFO sightings in recent decades. One or more large unusual flying objects were reportedly witnessed by hundreds, or maybe thousands, of Phoenix-area and Arizona residents that evening.
Extraterrestrials may not need UFOs to visit Earth
People who wonder about or even actively research the topics of UFOs and visitors from elsewhere sometimes begin with certain assumptions that may only be partially correct. For example, it might be possible that there are several kinds of intelligent visitors on Earth. Some researchers also suggest that certain unconventional beings might not be visitors at all, but somehow native to our planet, though they reside in hidden dimensions or operate in mysterious ways.
Intelligence officials have unique approach on UFOs, ETs?
If extraterrestrial and/or extra-dimensional beings, or other intelligences, are visiting Earth as some researchers suspect, are we approaching the situation in the best way? In his book "Messengers of Deception," researcher Jacques Vallee describes his interaction with a person he calls "Major Murphy." "Then he posed a question that, obvious as it seems, had not really occurred to me: 'What makes you think UFOs are a scientific problem?'" wrote Vallee. Vallee explained, "Now, the UFO phenomenon could be controlled by alien beings." To this, Major Murphy responded, "If it is, then the study of it doesn't belong in science. It belongs in intelligence."
Awareness grows about extraterrestrials, consciousness, emerging mysteries
Researchers, journalists and others seem to be re-evaluating reports about unconventional U.S. defense and intelligence activities regarding contact and interaction with extraterrestrial life. Researchers, journalists and others seem to be re-evaluating reports about unconventional U.S. defense and intelligence activities regarding contact and interaction with extraterrestrial life. The "situation awareness" about possible visitation to Earth by extraterrestrials, as well as other emerging scientific understanding about many phenomena, appears to be steadily improving. The nature of time and space, advanced research in human consciousness and the nature of apparent mysterious intelligences in the Universe or "multi-verse" are just a few of the key areas in leading-edge and forward-leaning investigations.
Extraterrestrials in the news, and maybe in America
Recent news and related accounts such as those described in the online article "Human-looking ETs secretly in U.S.?" seem to have resonated with many people. Factors involved in the apparent large amount of interest probably include statements by astrophysicist Stephen Hawking on the potential hazards of contacting extraterrestrials. Recent news articles about the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) program have also probably provided synergy regarding interest in this topic. And, NASA recently held an open teleconference on astrobiology, the science of the search for extraterrestrial life.
Human-looking ETs secretly in U.S.?
According to accounts released Saturday, April 24, 2010, by the coordinator of an e-mail news and information service, officials of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) and other U.S. government agencies have been involved in security activities involving human-appearing extraterrestrial beings in the U.S. The anomymous source also noted the more general issue of extraterrestrials visiting Earth who may blend in with the human population, for various reasons.
Can troops find hidden bombs with sixth sense?
Recent research has determined that some U.S. military personnel are better than others in the ability to detect hidden improvised explosive devices (IEDs). But why? According to a U.S. Army research project, troops raised in rural and forested areas seemed to be better at it. Troops who grew up in tough urban areas also seem to excel in this kind of perception. The common denominator is "situational awareness (SA)" that is key to hunting and being aware in the natural environment as well as in dangerous neighborhoods where people can become a victim of violence or other crime. But what other important factors might be in play? And how might the understanding of human perception and consciousness benefit all of us?
'Phoenix lights' UFO case 13th anniversary is March 13
The 13th anniversary of the so-called "Phoenix lights" UFO incident is next Saturday, March 13. As usual at this time each year, the case is revisited by many researchers, writers and interested people. In addition, the National Geographic Channel is airing an episode of its new show "Mysterious Science" about the Phoenix lights incident. As part of this discussion, I thought it might be interesting to include a chapter on the Phoenix lights case from my first novel, "Mission Into Light" (published in 2001).
Phoenix lights UFO: Misperception, test or acclimation?
What was flying over Arizona and Phoenix the evening of March 13, 1997? Was it a formation of several aircraft with odd bright lights? If so, there seem to be several unusual aspects to the flight. Was it one huge triangle, boomerang or V-shaped craft? If so, was it a U.S. advanced aircraft or spacecraft of some kind? Was it an extraterrestrial craft? Was it some combination of both? The so-called "Phoenix lights" case is widely recognized as one of the more interesting incidents involving unidentified flying objects.
More clues revealed on 1997 Phoenix lights UFO
The mystery of the 1997 "Phoenix lights" incident seems to continue. TV shows, films, research articles and other explorations of the case still fascinate us – and still raise many questions. As the 13th anniversary of the strange incident approaches on Saturday, March 13, 2010, it does seem an appropriate time to take a new look at clues about this case. Many factors in the case led to much speculation then, and over the years. Did people see military flares from the training exercise? Was there something else that was not over the Goldwater Range but was directly over the city and surrounding communities (as well as other parts of Arizona and Nevada)?
Science journalism faces media changes, emerging discoveries
"Weird science" and "weird science journalism" may reconfigure how science is explored, communicated and understood. The field of journalism is going through significant changes as print and broadcast media are transformed by electronic media of various kinds. Science journalism is no exception. Online and e-journalism, including citizen journalism, is changing not only media platforms but also content and focus.
UFO Congress convention lands in Laughlin Feb. 21
Researchers and interested humans from around planet Earth will arrive at the Colorado River border of Arizona and Nevada later this month to encounter the mysteries, theories, evidence and possible answers about UFOs. The 19th annual International UFO Congress Convention & Film Festival will be held in Laughlin, Nevada, from Feb. 21 through Feb. 27 at the Aquarius Casino Resort. Dozens of U.S.-based and international speakers with expertise in the field of alleged extraterrestrial visitation to Earth will give presentations throughout the week.
'Avatar' also story of deep DNA within many Americans
The blockbuster movie "Avatar" has triggered interesting discussions and perceptions by a wide range of observers and moviegoers. However, have we missed some aspects of particularly relevant elements of the film? There are millions of Americans who carry Native American Indian DNA with them. Yet, many of these people may consider themselves "white," "black" or "brown." Might they also now be going through a transformation similar to some of the characters in "Avatar?"
ESP in sports: Watch 'sixth sense' in Super Bowl
This year's Super Bowl might show us examples of ESP in sports. It is well known that constant practice in sports, "situational awareness" and natural athletic gifts can all combine to allow an athlete to perform "on instinct." Intense focus in the here and now in the middle of multiple rapidly-occurring events in a sport contest can combine to create an environment where athletes can experience "anomalous cognition," meaning unusual or unconventional perception and awareness.
International officials met with ETs in November?
Did U.S. government and international representatives meet with extraterrestrials in November at a remote area in the Pacific? That is the interesting account put forward in an e-mail news and information service this week. Victor Martinez, a former U.S. government employee who coordinates the e-mail communication activity, says that contacts who are current and former U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) officials told him about the meeting.
Journalist teaches college class on covering fringe topics, cover-ups, UFOs
How should journalists, the news media and informed citizens handle certain unusual and unconventional topics? To try to find the answers, internationally-known and award-winning investigative journalist George Knapp will be teaching a journalism course at the College of Southern Nevada beginning in January. The course, "Reporting from the Twilight Zone," will explore many elements involved in subjects that may be sensitive or secret, complex, strange, and at times, frightening.
New book reports UFO encounters in Appalachia
Eyewitness accounts of UFO sightings and strange encounters in the Appalachian Mountain region provide fascinating reading in a recently-published book by researcher, journalist and author Kyle Lovern. Volume 2 of "Appalachian Case Study: UFO Sightings, Alien Encounters & Unexplained Phenomena" continues the exploration that Lovern began in the first volume, published in 2008. Lovern brings a solid journalistic background to this challenging topic and the complex related factors involved.
Movie '2012' helps us prepare for future
The new blockbuster movie "2012" is exciting and fun ... but is it based on anything close to reality? Could our planet Earth go through changes so fundamental that crustal plates shift and buckle, widespread earthquakes shake and multiple volcanoes explode? NASA says don't worry about it. But don't rule it out, according to some theories.
TV show 'V' may reflect real UFOs, ET visitors
The new ABC TV series "V" seems to be drawing a solid audience and may be helping us consider important issues facing our society today. The original 1983 miniseries was reportedly related to the novel by Sinclair Lewis, "It Can't Happen Here," about the Nazis coming to power in Germany. Yet, what if we look at the more literal context of the show – that extraterrestrial or unusual visitors of some kind have arrived, perhaps quite some time ago, and are among us?
'Goats' movie helps us stare at human mind
The new fact-based fiction movie "The Men Who Stare at Goats" deals with more than meets the eye. Or at least, we see some subjects touched on in quick and sometimes subtle ways that might trigger more thought. In other scenes, certain topics are dealt with at length or even hit viewers between the eyes with a cinematic sledgehammer. Incredibly funny parts of the movie are juxtaposed with the troubling, tragic and frightening.
Remote viewing and more in documentary film 'Something Unknown'
The new movie "The Men Who Stare at Goats" is bringing expanded awareness to the general public about unconventional and anomalous topics involving human consciousness and the nature of "reality." Another film, this one a documentary, is doing the same. Dutch filmmaker Renée Scheltema's film "Something Unknown is Doing We Don't Know What," like the "Goats" movie, looks at discoveries in modern physics and psychology, remote viewing, telepathy, precognition, psychokinesis, unconventional healing and related subjects.
TV project on CIA remote viewing unit underway
Following on the heels of the release of the movie "The Men Who Stare at Goats," a new TV project about a CIA "remote viewing" unit is in the works, according to a Nov. 3 article in "Variety." Widespread interest in the topic of remote viewing has grown steadily since information about Project STAR GATE emerged in the 1990s. Recently, large amounts of documents associated with the project have been declassified and made public, although many remain secret.
Two new movie projects explore Area 51, UFOs
Nevada's not-so-secret test range for advanced U.S. aircraft and extraterrestrial-engineered UFOs is the focus of two current movie projects. Oren Peli, who created the current independent film sensation PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, is now working on AREA 51, using a somewhat similar style. Meanwhile, the rights to a project tentatively titled S4: THE INCREDIBLE TRUE STORY OF BOB LAZAR were recently obtained by Curmudgeon Films. Lazar is the individual who came forward in 1989 and claimed to have been a scientist at Area 51 where he worked on and viewed extraterrestrial craft.
Movie 'The Fourth Kind' sheds light on UFOs, human beings
Are non-human intelligent beings abducting humans? And if so, how and why? The new movie The Fourth Kind deals with a topic that has become part of the tales, rumors and reports associated with UFOs and theories about visitation to Earth of extraterrestrial, extra-dimensional or other intelligent beings. In the film, due in theatres Nov. 6, Milla Jovovich stars as a behavioral health professional working with clients who have apparent sleep disorders. She soon discovers that these individuals are having difficulties because they apparently have experienced something very frightening and troubling – they may have been abducted by non-human beings of some kind, and for unclear purposes.
Police sergeant sees ETs at crop circle? No UFO reported
An off-duty police sergeant in the UK is reported to have seen possible extraterrestrials on the ground near a crop circle last July 6. According to published reports, the unidentified Wiltshire officer was driving that morning near a crop circle that had appeared a few days earlier near Silbury Hill.
Google logos, H.G. Wells help public preparedness on UFOs
The Google logo "doodle" on Sept. 21, H.G. Wells´ birthday, showed the three-legged extraterrestrial invaders from Wells´ novel THE WAR OF THE WORLDS, published in 1898. Recent Google UFO doodles sparked curiosity and motivated amateur sleuths who tried to determine the meanings of the mysterious flying saucers in Google´s logo on Sept. 5 and Sept. 15. One of the most noteworthy outcomes from the book was the Mercury Theatre radio broadcast on CBS based on the novel that aired live on Halloween, Oct. 30, 1938. Some listeners believed the radio drama script by Orson Welles was a series of real news reports about an invasion of Earth by frightening creatures from Mars and panic swept many communities in the U.S.
Google's new UFO crop circle logo raises questions
Google's customized logo has again sparked curiosity and mystery. On Saturday, Sept. 5, the Google "doodle" featured a disc-shaped UFO with a beam connecting the saucer with the "o" in Google. Today, another flying saucer UFO is hovering over the Google logo in the form of a crop circle. When visitors click the logo, they are taken to the search for "crop circles." The previous anomalous logo took users to a search for "unexplained phenomenon."
'Integrative perception' useful in health, media, defense
Human perception is related to a broad range of important endeavors in fields like health, media, national defense and many other areas. New developments in human perception and consciousness have the potential to help us make progress on these and other fronts. Perception is personal and also social. It affects families, communities, countries and the international community. Our perception and understanding of ourselves are key in the areas noted above, and in many other ways.
Google logo UFO linked to real unexplained phenomena
Visitors to Google on Saturday, Sept. 5, were surprised to see a classic disc-shaped flying saucer hovering above the Google logo. A beam of light or energy appears between the craft and the Google logo. When visitors click on the logo, they are taken to the Google search page for "unexplained phenomenon." There seems to be some mystery surrounding the reason for this graphic. Although Google often adds unique art to its logo to celebrate or note certain significant dates, the reason for the disc-shaped craft image is unclear at this time.
Movies on UFOs, other worlds help public acclimation?
Recent, current and upcoming movies on stories related to UFOs, off-Earth civilizations and how humans fit into the situation continue to emerge from Hollywood. A few examples include ALIENS IN THE ATTIC and PLANET 51, scheduled to open in November, both geared for kids and families. The dark and introspective DISTRICT 9 hit theatres in August. THE FOURTH KIND, dealing with abductions of humans, hits theatries this November. James Cameron's AVATAR, due out in December, is already creating a buzz. And Curmudgeon Films recently obtained the rights to the story of an alleged Area 51 scientist for a movie project tentatively titled S-4: THE INCREDIBLE TRUE STORY OF BOB LAZAR.
Healthy, safe living should be part of national discussion
America, heal thyself. As debates about personal, family, community and national health continue, there have been limited discussions regarding physical fitness, healthy living, safety education and personal responsibility. For example, the challenge of overweight and obese adults, teens and children in the U.S. appears to be just one of many areas where low-cost or no-cost solutions are within reach.
More progress for commercial spaceflight emerges
A blue-ribbon panel analyzing NASA's future spaceflight options plans to report to the White House this week. The 10-member group plans to provide between six and eight options for future directions, according to published reports. In addition to NASA's own activities, the group also reportedly will present options involving manned low-Earth-orbit commercial spaceflight. Meanwhile, an organization called the Commercial Spaceflight Federation issued a press release this week announcing the formation of the Suborbital Applications Researchers Group (SARG).
Commercial space travel, advanced space research get boost
This week, two interesting developments emerged regarding some of the future paths NASA may take. On Monday, NASA officials announced that they will devote $50 million in federal stimulus money toward developing commercial passenger service into space. In addition, a new report due out Friday from the National Research Council (NRC) recommends that NASA revive the activities of the agency´s former Institute for Advanced Concepts (NIAC), which was shut down in 2007.
New TV series 'Defying Gravity' explores space, human beings
When a new TV series blends human behavior, relationships, space travel and a mysterious undisclosed element, will we have a worthwhile show or something less? Viewers may find out the answer when the ABC TV series "Defying Gravity" begins this Sunday, Aug. 2. The story takes place in the year 2052 and follows eight astronauts, four women and four men, from five countries, on an eight-year mission to explore our solar system. We also meet their ground crew and other characters.
Media coverage improves on emerging discoveries, UFOs
Journalists and the news media seem to be taking a closer look at how they cover and report on unconventional scientific topics. Professional and objective news coverage seems to have improved in recent years when it comes to things like UFOs, human extrasensory perception (ESP), ideas about other dimensions and similar subjects. In addition, movies, TV and other entertainment media also often explore these kinds of areas, sometimes with mixed results. Still, valuable perspectives often seem to be part of creative projects from Hollywood and elsewhere.
UFO disclosure: What should Obama say?
On July 24, 2009, White House Press Secretary Gibbs responded to a caller´s question on C-SPAN about UFOs. The caller, identified as "Ryan from Seattle," noted that a wide range of Americans are calling for more transparency on the UFO situation. Gibbs said he took the question seriously but stated he had not been briefed on the topic and has not talked with President Barack Obama about it. Will the time come when a more formal government statement about UFOs is appropriate? Or, will "disclosure" continue to gradually emerge through indirect, vague and discreet methods?
Health care reform: DoD's TRICARE a useful model?
One model of health care services administration that could be explored in current national discussions on health care reform is the TRICARE program run by the U.S. Department of Defense. This program serves active-duty military service members and retirees, and their families. In recent years, because so many Reserve Component (Reserves and National Guard) personnel have been called up for Iraq and Afghanistan, steps were taken to allow some of them to access the TRICARE health services system.
Arrest incident is complex for Gates, Crowley, Obama
The disorderly conduct arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. by Cambridge, Massachusetts, police Sergeant James Crowley raises many interesting issues that are probably worth exploring. President Barack Obama's recent comment that Crowley may have acted "stupidly" also seems worthy of examination. What were the psychological, social, legal and other dynamics in play on the night of Gates' arrest? Let's start in chronological order.
Space psychology relevant for life on Earth
Since the early days of the development of the U.S. astronaut corps, the study of space psychology has played an important role. As human endeavors in space continue to expand and the range of people who have opportunities to experience off-Earth spaceflight also grows, space psychology will continue to be an important and growing area of study. One emerging and leading-edge area of human psychology and consciousness is the study of alternative or complementary cognition, sometimes referred to as anomalous cognition. This type of awareness and perception relates to the human ability to use intuition, gut feelings, instincts, hunches and a sixth sense to complement the other five senses and logical intellectual thinking.
ESP, remote viewing actually 'complementary cognition?'
The term "anomalous cognition" has come to mean something similar to what has often been called the "sixth sense." These concepts are also linked with names for this phenomena such as extrasensory perception (ESP) and remote viewing. However, is it true that certain kinds of perception are actually "anomalous," that is, unusual or out of the ordinary? It may be that the sixth sense is actually a very natural, normal and common kind of perception that we all experience on a regular basis.
UFOs, 'visitors' linked to soul, afterlife, says author
Writer Whitley Strieber states in his July 6, 2009, online journal that unconventional extraterrestrial or extra-dimensional "visitors" sometimes are accompanied by humans who have previously passed on. He writes, " ... Anne and I used to have large groups to our cabin in upstate New York, and the visitors would often show up, and, as often, so would the dead." Strieber also notes, "It is an ordinary part of the close encounter experience for people to see the dead in the company of the grays, and usually they appear to be just as real as any physical being."
Another view of UFO disclosure: Look within
We seem to hear and read quite a bit about "disclosure" in the media nowadays in reference to unconventional and unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Some people say we must lobby for the release of government-held information so that the American and international public can understand what, if anything, is going on. Are there important new discoveries? Are there threats to the human race? How might the government be handling unconventional scenarios? What makes us believe that politicians and those from the military, intelligence and scientific fields have the necessary perspectives to fully understand the real whole situation?
Twitter experiment, 'Goats' movie tackle 'remote viewing'
What do a recent Twitter extrasensory perception (ESP) experiment and an upcoming movie starring George Clooney have in common? Both address the topic of "remote viewing." Remote viewing refers to a method of using human consciousness to obtain information and understanding about situations, places, things and people that are not known to the remote viewer. Additionally, the remote viewer has no other means to obtain the information about the "target" other than what is perceived via the mind. However, there could be significant misperceptions about this topic in the Twitter exercise and the movie, titled THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS, based on the book of the same name.
Space interest, activities span NASA to UFOs
When we think about space travel and activities in space, two general categories may come to mind: the conventional and unconventional. In some ways, these two categories seem to overlap when it comes to certain scientific studies and speculation. What are useful and constructive ways to reconcile and integrate the conventional and unconventional elements of our perceptions about, and the realities of space-related operations? Advanced technologies and knowledge might be common denominators that link speculation about things like UFOs and advanced secret U.S. space activities with more conventional space projects.
FBI investigates time, mind warp in new TV series 'Flash Forward'
A new TV series at ABC will explore human consciousness, weird physics and the mysteries of time. "Flash Forward" is based on a 1999 novel by respected Canadian science fiction writer Robert J. Sawyer. Sawyer's novel and the TV series seem to explore fascinating topics that are actually being investigated by serious scientists and researchers: the mysterious nature of time and of human consciousness.
DARPA, Army fund 'telepathy' research
A research program to develop mind-to-mind communication among U.S. military personnel will receive $4 million from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), according to published reports. The "Silent Talk" project seeks to create technologies that can read the "pre-speech" brain waves of individuals, interpret them and communicate them to other individuals. Of course, it is not really telepathy as we normally think of that concept. Telepathy typically refers to the idea of direct person-to-person, mind-to-mind communication. It is possible that there is also a non-technological mediation process of some kind in the case of true telepathy that is not fully understood.
NASA reviewed amid tales of UFOs, secret space fleet
NASA's plans for retiring the Space Shuttle program and moving forward with the next phase of spacecraft – at least spacecraft known to the public – are being scrutinized at the highest levels of the U.S. government, according to recent published reports. Although NASA has long been the public face of the U.S. space program, some researchers have suggested that a more advanced space program may be going on behind the scenes. Some even claim that we may have a secret space fleet and have contact with occupants of UFOs.
DARPA human intelligence research digs deep
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) will fund a "physical intelligence (PI)" study into the chemical, electrical and thermal aspects of human intelligence, according to recently published reports. At first glance, the DARPA project seems to address a primary point of discussion about the nature of human intelligence and human consciousness: Is human awareness simply the sum of complex chemical, electrical and related biological interactions or are there other, less understood factors in play?
Space travel not just for astronauts and UFOs anymore
Space travel for a wider range of scientists, researchers and explorers from corporations, governments, institutions and universities seems to be on the horizon. Several private companies are moving forward on a variety of plans for commercial space travel. The efforts include sub-orbital vehicles as well as orbiting space-station habitats. When these projects become operational in coming years, the next wave of human space travelers will venture out to experience the awe-inspiring perspective reported by astronauts who have made the same journey.
UFOs, visitors are here – situation mysterious, says author
Well-known author Whitley Strieber's April 26 entry in the "Whitley's Journal" section of his Web site provides interesting reading about "disclosure" on UFOs and visitation to Earth by other intelligent beings. Strieber writes that, "the primary directions contact will take are two. First, and most important, it will be between individuals and the visitors, without any institutional barrier such as some NASA or Air Force officials directing our actions or laws restricting or channeling contact. Second, it will involve scientists working publicly on data that can be readily obtained in dozens of different ways, to make sense of contact in terms that are meaningful to us," Strieber says.
Interrogations by Japanese-Americans helped win WWII
As we deal with intelligence and interrogation issues today, information about the World War II-era U.S. Army intelligence group known as the "Military Intelligence Service (MIS)" may provide useful perspectives. The MIS was started in late 1941 as a unit to train Japanese-Americans (Nisei) to conduct translation and interrogation activities. MIS men came mostly from Hawaii and the West Coast. How did the MIS handle interrogations? Since many of the details of MIS activities still remain somewhat unclear, this information has not surfaced for the general public and possibly for policymakers.
Weird physics: Heaven and Earth, UFOs, consciousness
Some scientific views about our universe now include ideas about multiple dimensions in a "multiverse," bridges or portals between them, fields of "zero point energy" and other fascinating concepts. How do these newer ideas about ways the universe might be structured and operate compare to more traditional concepts about an afterlife such as "Heaven" or a dimension where we might reside before coming into this life? What about unusual phenomena such as perceptions of angels, strange lights or UFOs? How do these ideas fit into the overall picture?
New book examines West Virginia UFOs, strange encounters
West Virginia journalist Kyle Lovern brings us a straightforward, down-to-earth and amazing picture of UFO encounters from his home state in his new book "Appalachian Case Study: Sightings, Alien Encounters." An award-winning writer born and raised in West Virginia, Lovern uses his professional experience from newspaper and radio work in his interviews with other West Virginians about their unusual UFO sightings and other experiences in the Appalachian Mountain region.
Former astronaut says Roswell UFO crash true
According to a CNN report April 20, 2009, former astronaut Edgar Mitchell told an audience at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., that the basic story of a 1947 UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico, is true. Mitchell was an astronaut on the Apollo 14 mission to the moon in 1971 and he spoke at the National Press Club after the fifth annual X-Conference, an event focused on research involving UFOs. CNN reported that Mitchell told journalists that there is firm knowledge that extraterrestrial life exists and this information is being held back from the general public in the U.S. and internationally.
Researchers say special ops UFO manual looks authentic
An alleged 1954 U.S. special operations manual that provides instruction on dealing with UFOs and extraterrestrial beings was discussed by researchers Robert Wood, Ph.D., and Ryan Wood Thursday, April 16, on the radio program "Coast to Coast AM." The Woods, a father and son team, examine and evaluate the authenticity of various government documents related to UFOs. They said on Coast to Coast AM that their research indicates the manual has characteristics indicating it is authentic. The alleged manual is titled "SOM1-01 Special Operations Manual: Extraterrestrial Entities and Technology, Recovery and Disposal."
Military veterans in prison deserve our help now
Do military veterans serving jail or prison time deserve extra help and a second look regarding their legal and incarceration status? Most Americans probably agree that our veterans deserve as much respect and support as we can provide. This can be in the form of health care, counseling, education and training, job placement, housing assistance and other services. If a veteran has a difficult time after military service, especially service involving combat duties and experiences, it seems reasonable and appropriate that we should take these factors into consideration. This includes run-ins police, adjudication in the courts, probation, jail or prison sentences and parole. In my second novel, LIGHT'S HAND, the sequel to MISSION INTO LIGHT (both published in 2001), I addressed this topic and it seems timely to revisit it now.
Breakthroughs in human consciousness possible
Right now, all of us are experiencing human consciousness. It is our thinking, feeling and perceptions. It involves us as individuals, families, groups, organizations, communities and nations. Some people seem to feel that we may be on the verge of breakthroughs of some kind when it comes to human consciousness – a paradigm shift or an emerging new insight. As we take a look at the world around us, one view about human consciousness is that American society and human culture worldwide seem to be developing in ways that are promising, despite serious problems of various kinds.
'Asia Consciousness Festival' explores known and unknown
What is consciousness? For humans, is it simply the thinking brain or is it a mysterious mix involving the brain, the senses and other kinds of perception and awareness? What do we know and what more can we learn about consciousness? Those questions will be explored in the upcoming "Asia Consciousness Festival" to be held in Hong Kong, June 5 through June 21. Prominent researchers from a wide range of professional and academic fields will be speaking at the event. Film screenings, exhibitions and workshops are also included. How does consciousness relate to the development of the human race? An interesting point is raised on the festival's Web site: "Looking back through history, it seems that mankind as a whole is evolving toward something ... Comparing the developments over the past hundred years to the previous hundreds of thousands of years of human existence, mankind appears to be rapidly heading towards a pinnacle, singularity, or 'Omega Point.'"
PBS launches Native American TV saga April 13
A five-part TV program on the Public Broadcasting System's (PBS) "American Experience" series begins Monday, April 13, and will continue on subsequent Mondays through May 11. The groundbreaking presentation, "We Shall Remain," looks at American history since the arrival of Europeans from the Native American Indian points of view. The five segments of the program include: "After the Mayflower" (part one, April 13), "Tecumseh's Vision" (part two, April 20), "Trail of Tears" (part three, April 27), "Geronimo" (part four, May 4) and "Wounded Knee" (part five, May 11).
Ancient legends include mystical woman, UFO visitors
Does current scientific understanding have connections with ancient accounts of mystical and metaphysical phenomena? When we hear modern scientists discussing parallel dimensions and mysterious discoveries, can we draw any conclusions about traditional legends of the "First Americans," Native American Indians? As we read about the stories from the Hopi and other tribes about visitors from the stars, do we wonder if there is an association with modern-day reports of UFOs? In 2005, NASA helped promote "Sun-Earth Day," an observation and celebration that happens on or near the spring equinox each year. As part of this activity, the NASA Web site featured the section "Ancient Observations, Timeless Knowledge" and a sub-section called "Native American Connections."
UFOs offer new energy sources, advanced knowledge?
Some people who are curious about reports of extraterrestrial and/or extra-dimensional visitors to Earth have recently noted that advanced energy technologies related to the UFO phenomena could be helpful for us now. Advocates of this view say national security issues associated with certain foreign oil sources, stress on our economies, effects of related pollution, global climate change and other disadvantages of conventional energy-producing methods indicate that we should explore possible exotic technologies associated with UFOs. For most Americans and people internationally, it remains unproven that there have actually been, or are currently, visitors to Earth from extraterrestrial and/or extra-dimensional locations. Some researchers in this field, however, claim that legitimate evidence exists strongly indicating that this is the case. Thorough and effective programs of security and confidentiality on these efforts have been going on for decades, they say.
Modern science, ancient wisdom now merging
Some of today's scientists are theorizing that the universe and our everyday reality may not be quite what we think. These scientists join the ranks of philosophers, theologians and people around the world who have thought about views on heaven and the afterlife, angels, reincarnation and other metaphysical concepts. The theory that our universe might actually be a "multiverse" seems to be gaining support. According to these ideas, there may be several or many intersecting dimensions. Do these concepts help us explain things like near-death experiences (NDEs), extrasensory perception (ESP), unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and other unusual phenomena? Interestingly, these modern scientific perspectives are consistent with many traditional views and beliefs in cultures around the world. For example, Native American Indians have traditionally valued the unseen in nature as an important aspect of reality and life.
Defense budget: Include 'transcendent warfare' R&D
When Defense Secretary Robert Gates presents his plans for the Pentagon budget, it could be wise for him to consider modest funding for "transcendent warfare" research and development. Transcendent warfare – a term used by a Navy SEAL officer in a 2001 research paper at the Marine Corps War College – includes elements of soft power and hard power, potentially enhancing both. We could say that a concept of transcendent power is capable of creating a synergy of superior methods and resources to face future challenges such as, but not limited to, irregular warfare (IW). When breakthroughs in transcendent warfare took place in the 1970s, '80s and '90s in Project STARGATE's research on human perception, the military services led the way in cooperation with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
Book 'Hunt for the Skinwalker' explores UFOs, the unknown
The non-fiction book Hunt for the Skinwalker, published in 2005, is a fascinating account of a scientific research team's investigation into unusual phenomena at a remote Utah ranch. Written by research scientist Colm A. Kelleher, Ph.D., and award-winning investigative journalist George Knapp, the book takes readers on an exciting, mysterious and somewhat frightening adventure into the unknown. The full title is Hunt for the Skinwalker: Science Confronts the Unexplained at a Remote Utah Ranch. The book begins as a cattle-ranching family is getting settled into their new 480-acre spread in northeastern Utah, where they had moved from New Mexico. It´s a lovely place, perfect for their high-quality registered cattle and a lifestyle living close to the land in a rural setting. Before long, very unusual things begin to happen.
DARPA idea on remote sensing has wider potential
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has put out a request for proposals to develop a "Comprehensive Interior Reconnaissance" technological sensing system. Such a system would be able to can collect information about and map the interior of buildings, including walls, doors, plumbing, electrical, ventilation and other common features. This would have obvious value in urban combat, hostage rescue and similar operations. Could aspects of "transcendent warfare" concepts also provide non-technological assets along these lines? Could human "biosensor" and "anomalous cognition (AC)" methods be developed and deployed? Anomalous cognition is an umbrella term of sorts that includes various kinds of human perception, awareness and skills that we typically think of as unconventional.
UFO hoaxes can teach us about UFO realities
The recent UFO hoax in New Jersey could be educational in several ways. We might try to understand the thinking of the two men who have admitted to the hoax. We might also learn more about the complex overall situation related to UFOs. The two men who launched helium-filled balloons with common road flares attached to them did it because, according to Associated Press reports, they wanted "to debunk so-called UFO experts." It is true that many or most sightings have logical and natural explanations. Some sightings are probably the result of overactive imaginations. At the same time, it is evident to people who have done basic research on this subject that many sightings and encounters are something much more. Solid objects or craft as well as lights of various kinds have been seen and reported by reliable military personnel, pilots, peace officers and other kinds of credible witnesses over past years and decades. The March 13, 1997, Phoenix lights case is a good example. The many Stephenville, Texas, incidents of 2008 are another. The Chicago O'Hare airport sighting is yet another fascinating case along with many, many others. There have even been sightings reported in the 1800s and in previous centuries.
'Alien Trespass' explores '50s UFO views, public acclimation
The new movie ALIEN TRESPASS opens in theatres Friday, April 3, and its value for audiences now may be below our conscious radar. When watching ALIEN TRESPASS, we might wonder about the intentions of producer and director R.W. Goodwin, and writers James Swift and Steven P. Fisher in making this 1950s-type UFO movie. Goodwin contributed to more than 100 episodes of "The X-Files" so we know he has a sophisticated understanding of many current questions about UFOs and government activities related to them. Did Goodwin, Swift and Fisher intend to make fun of these old movies, create a nostalgic tribute of sorts, or what? ALIEN TRESPASS seems to have both overt and subtle elements of both – and maybe more intriguing aspects too.
Are we prepared for public UFO encounters?
Is the U.S. prepared for public, daylight high-profile UFO encounters? Do average adults, teens and children have adequate mental and emotional preparedness for visible and indisputable extraterrestrial and/or inter-dimensional visitation? Are our public health and safety officials ready to handle possible ramifications of such an event? To explore these important questions, it may be instructive to look at the March 13, 1997, so-called "Phoenix lights" case.
Transcendent warfare, transcendent power have potential
Despite the current economic, geopolitical, climatic and other disruptions and difficulties, modern human societies still seem to have vast potential to move forward using concepts related to the idea of "transcendent warfare." The word "warfare" here should not be interpreted in a rigid way that only denotes conflict, killing and destruction. Rather, transcendent warfare considers different ways of looking at complex situations of many kinds.
UFOs and public safety: Firefighter manual explains risks
What do public safety officials and the general public have a need to know about possible unidentified flying objects (UFOs)? One aspect of the phenomena that may be important involves the possible dangers of "close encounters" with these objects, craft or energy anomalies. According to a 1992 firefighter training book, "Fire Officer's Guide to Disaster Control," the two main hazards are powerful anomalous energy fields and psychological impacts.
New UFO response teams face public safety issues
This month, it was announced that Nevada-based Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS) will fund rapid-response teams for certain UFO incidents such as those involving the landing of such objects or craft – "close encounters of the second kind." BAASS funding will support the teams coordinated by the national and international volunteer group Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). If or when MUFON's teams respond to a second-kind UFO incident, they may face a variety of challenges in addition to investigating the circumstances, conducting witness interviews, obtaining physical evidence and other activities. These may include establishing liaison with local public safety officials (peace officers and firefighters) and U.S. government personnel who could also be involved in such an incident. In addition, caution and safety should be important elements for these teams, first responders and the general public. The firefighter training manual "A Fire Officer's Guide to Disaster Control," published in 1992.
Transcendent power has public safety applications
The concepts of hard power, soft power, smart power and transcendent power have been used primarily in discussions about the use of military forces and diplomacy in international activities. However, these ideas can also be applied to a wide range of other fields and endeavors including public safety. Public safety agencies use hard power ans soft power every day. By merging hard power and soft power together, these organizations tap into smart power, the balanced use of both methods and resources in appropriate ways and circumstances. Public safety personnel can also make good use of certain aspects of transcendent power, an idea based on the term "transcendent warfare" which was used by a former Navy SEAL officer in a 2001 graduate-level research report as part of his studies at the Marine Corps War College.
DARPA project to regrow human tissue enters next phase
Will U.S. troops who have had serious war injuries find new help from ongoing research to regrow damaged human tissue? According to an announcement March 23, 2009, the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has extended its contract with a Massachusetts biotechnology company for a research program on the regeneration of muscle tissue lost or damaged by traumatic injury. DARPA's long-range goal is to discover and optimize the natural regenerative abilities of the human body to heal war injuries experienced by U.S. troops, including injuries involving bone, muscle, nerves and other soft tissue. The company involved in the contract, CellThera, is part of the Bioengineering Institute (BEI) of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). A WPI press release notes that DARPA awarded CellThera a one-year $570,000 contract for research into regenerating mammalian muscle tissue. The contract could be extended for a second year. WPI will be a subcontractor for part of the program.
Joint competency in transcendent power needed
When Marine Corps General James Mattis addressed the House Armed Services Committee on March 18, 2009, he made some key points that may be worth looking at from the perspective of "transcendent power" and "transcendent warfare." Mattis is commander of the U.S. Joint Forces Command and his report to the committee included concepts that are applicable more broadly than many people might assume. There may be additional implications, ramifications or elements involved.
Unconventional U.S. soft power: human perception, UFOs
As the U.S. takes a second look at benefits and advantages of the use of "soft power" in international affairs, we might consider some unconventional elements that might fall within this general concept. For example, there has long been international interest in Native American Indians and the rich cultures they represent. Another example of unconventional areas in which Americans and the U.S. Government have been or may have been involved include the military and intelligence communities' Project STAR GATE. What about the controversial topic of unidentified flying objects or UFOs? Interest in this topic seems to transcend international borders because these kinds of unusual objects have reportedly been sighted and encountered around the world.
Phoenix lights UFO anniversary brings fresh insights
The "Phoenix lights" UFO case on March 13, 1997, has sparked the same kind of questions and discussion as the 1947 "Roswell incident" and many other similar cases over the years in the U.S. and internationally. Here in America, we can also look at the many 2008 sightings in the Stephenville, Texas, area or the Nov. 7, 2006, O'Hare International Airport case as recent examples. Most people agree that "something" happened in these locations and on these dates. But what? Was the Roswell incident a top-secret U.S. balloon-type device? Was the Phoenix lights case a series of military flares dropped in a nearby military aviation test range? Were the apparently reliable witnesses in the Stephenville region and Chicago´s O´Hare airport totally mistaken about what they saw?
More UFO acclimation in 'Race to Witch Mountain'
Opening in theatres on Friday, March 13, the new movie RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN continues the acclimation process for the public on the possibility or probability that we are being visited by extraterrestrial and/or extra-dimensional intelligent beings. Interestingly, March 13 is also the anniversary of the 1997 "Phoenix lights incident." Films, TV shows, books and other media platforms have long been part of an alleged effort to prepare Americans and people internationally for the idea that some unidentified flying objects (UFOs) are piloted by intelligent visitors to Earth. RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN will bring moviegoers a new opportunity to wrap our minds around these concepts.
Transcendent power is natural resource for ARPA-E
The new Advanced Research Projects Agency for Energy (ARPA-E) has been allocated $400 million in the stimulus package to conduct research and development on innovations to optimize our energy resources and options. Part of ARPA-E's challenge will be technological – identifying, analyzing and funding promising advanced energy technologies and approaches of various kinds. Another task will be educating and communicating with the American people, the media, the administration, Congress, businesses, other governmental entities and additional stakeholders about ARPA-E's efforts and directions. In these fundamental tasks, ARPA-E can make good use of certain aspects of "transcendent power" – a concept that incorporates leading-edge research, emerging discoveries, information acquisition, human awareness and perception, soft-power communication and other components.
Exploring and deploying soft power, transcendent power
The terms "transcendent warfare" and "transcendent power" seem to have much in common with conventional and unconventional military approaches, international diplomacy, understanding cultural influences, communication activities and other elements we usually think of when talking about soft power, hard power and smart power. However, we might only be seeing part of the picture of transcendent warfare and transcendent power if we limit our views to the international military-diplomatic-cultural-communication aspects of soft power, hard power, smart power and transcendent power.
Transcendent power reshapes hard power, soft power, smart power
Greater understanding and use of "transcendent power" can result in the optimization of hard power, soft power and what has been referred to as smart power. What is transcendent power? In 2001, a Navy SEAL officer submitted a research paper as part of his studies at the Marine Corps War College. The paper was submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Marine Corps War College, Marine Corps University, Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Quantico, Virginia. The SEAL, then-commander L.R. Bremseth, had conducted interviews and looked into U.S. defense and intelligence community activities on human perceptual abilities and unconventional intelligence acquisition.
Deploy soft power communication on human consciousness
As we increasingly look at our human capital to assess where we have been, where we are now and where we are going, it is probably helpful to consider the current overall understanding of human consciousness. That is no easy task. The vague and varied nature of the human mind can be challenging to comprehend. It is not always readily visible, measurable or observable, although outward behavior and appearance stemming from consciousness is. In our everyday lives, we can look at elements of society such as economic development, educational systems, health care, defense and intelligence activities, cultural creativity and social cohesion that reflect the current state of our comprehension of human consciousness.
Beyond soft power and smart power: Transcendent power
In discussions about the ideas of hard power, soft power and smart power, several observers have pointed out that the term soft power may not be a good name for this worthwhile, sound and valuable concept. The word soft sometimes implies weak, flabby or inadequate characteristics in several kinds of contexts. A term that truly embodies soft power and also includes hard and smart power elements is "transcendent power." This refers to the concept of "transcendent warfare" that is based on the idea of embracing and utilizing emerging and leading-edge assets and resources.
Human consciousness key in soft power, hard power, smart power
When recent news reports explained that a U.S. intelligence operative in Afghanistan had provided Viagra to an older tribal and community leader who had several younger wives, the story triggered humor and insight about working closely with indigenous populations in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere. Merging hard power and soft power in a seamless way into smart power is a different matter when dealing face to face with communities, community leaders, tribes, families, parents and children.
Arizona film, TV projects explore unusual topics, Phoenix Lights UFO
Is it cosmic synergy and synchronicity or just a creative spirit that is making Arizona the focus of film and television projects linked to unusual phenomena? The independent film "The Appearance of a Man" and the TV series "Paranormal Matrix" were both created in Arizona. Both deal with unusual phenomena, including the 1997 Phoenix Lights incident. "The Appearance of a Man" and "Paranormal Matrix" are just two examples of the creative spirit in the Grand Canyon State. They seem to reflect a special perspective on life and our Universe that is part of living in Arizona.
New information alleged in 1997 'Phoenix Lights' UFO case
Interesting new information has surfaced in an online discussion forum about the March 13, 1997, events in Phoenix, Arizona, that has come to be known as the Phoenix Lights incident. Whether the information reported in the online posts is accurate, or has some elements of truth or inaccuracies combined, is unclear at this time. On the AboveTopSecret.com site, a person using the log-in identifier name "Topol-M" and signing with the letters "AL" states that he was in the Air Force and stationed in Arizona at the time of the Phoenix Lights incident. He states that through his own direct knowledge and accounts from trusted Air Force associates, he has information about the situation that is not widely known. His statements, if accurate, provide significantly more insight into the incident.
Should U.S. Government release more data on UFOs?
With a new U.S. Government administration and new leaders in key positions throughout the government, those who believe that information on UFOs should be more fully released to the public are making their cases. If further efforts and activities are able to make progress in these areas, then they can be carefully evaluated and implemented. The general public will undoubtedly continue to basically keep open minds and a healthy skepticism about such unconventional topics as our understanding of them becomes more complete.
New intel group IARPA should explore soft power
The U.S. intelligence community's new research and development agency can include efforts to enhance soft power assets as well as R&D in advanced technology as part of their ongoing activities and emerging challenges. The newly-formed Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) has evolved from previous intelligence activities and is now apparently trying to model itself on the respected Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), which was created in 1958. Can the new IARPA follow DARPA's example to recognize and identify the current and coming challenges facing the intelligence community, or even provide newer and more innovative transcendent intelligence resources, such as the optimization of soft power assets?
Funding for 'soft power' R&D needed now
Although the focus is sometimes on devices and technologies, it has also become apparent that "soft power" resources can be as valuable, or sometimes even more valuable, than "hard power" technologies and weapons. User of soft power can also be merged with and enhance hard power elements. Soft power approaches generally refer to diplomacy (including public diplomacy), persuasion, information and communication, economic pressures and incentives, psychological operations, public relations and similar activities. When trying to understand human behavior and the underlying thoughts, feelings and beliefs that motivate behavior, we might sometimes think in outdated ways. Various conventional theories of psychology indicate that our understanding of the human mind is evolving and that there are many views about what is involved in human consciousness.
DARPA, In-Q-Tel can expand efforts for U.S.
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) should be used in expanded ways to help the U.S. economy and American society, an official of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) wrote to President Obama. In an open letter to Obama published Jan. 12, 2009, in Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine, Pedro L. Rustan wrote that "Expanding this entrepreneurial and innovative agency's role beyond traditional defense-related industries will help you rebuild the U.S. economy and create jobs."
Algae-based jet fuel funded by DARPA
Jet fuel and other fuels made from algae are being developed in San Diego. Some of the research is being funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), part of the Department of Defense. DARPA has provided $35 million to San Diego-based companies SAIC and General Atomics to pursue the creation of algae-based jet fuel.
New facts surface in Stephenville UFO incidents
A detailed description of a huge craft that hovered over Stephenville, Texas, in January 2008 has been provided by a law enforcement officer and is reported on the Web site Earthfiles.com. An interview of the officer by Emmy Award-winning TV producer, investigative reporter and author Linda Moulton Howe is also posted on Earthfiles.com. In addition, the officer and Howe provide updated information on a Nov. 18 incident in Stephenville.
New U.S. leadership can tap 'transcendent warfare'
Now that new leadership is in place in Washington, D.C., Americans and the world have been told that different approaches may be used to enhance U.S. national security and help achieve worthwhile objectives internationally. Part of these approaches will surely include the some of the "soft power" methods such as persuasion, moral authority, consensus-building around shared interests and leadership by example. Effective use of soft power can sometimes prevent or complement what should be the last resort – the bombs, bullets, killing and destruction of "hard power." Innovative and leading-edge approaches to many of these kinds of challenges are sometimes referred to as "transcendent warfare." This term generally indicates the utilization of advanced, sometimes unconventional methods and activities.
Renew, prepare America with 'Urgent Response Group' for teens, young adults
As part of new efforts to invigorate our country and help younger Americans find ways to contribute to society, several ideas have been floated about some kind of youth corps or programs. Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps is a model that has been discussed. Another idea is one that I explored in my two novels, both published in 2001, Mission Into Light and the sequel Light's Hand. In the novels, a small special research and operational team called the Joint Reconnaissance Study Group (JRSG), based in San Diego, is tasked with several projects. Some are innovative, some unconventional and others quite surprising. The projects that the group becomes involved in are related to what is sometimes called "transcendent warfare" or "transcendent activities."
Wind turbine UFO hits clean energy ideas
Ever since an energy-generating wind turbine near Conisholme, England, was damaged on Jan. 4, 2009, and witnesses reported glowing objects with "tentacles" there at the same time, interest by the international public and news media has been significant. For those who wonder about these topics, another question might come to mind: Could the damage to the wind turbine, and the public appearance of UFOs for witnesses to observe have been intentional?
UFO 'tentacles' are propulsion plasma beams, researcher says
The "tentacle" appearance of an unidentified flying object (UFO), such as reported over a wind turbine farm near Conisholme, England, on Jan. 4, 2009, may have been "constantly changing, torque-generating plasma beams" related to an exotic propulsion system. An experienced American scientific researcher has proposed that the "jellyfish" or "octopus" visual effect that some witnesses have reported in the UK and United States could actually be what is called a "magnetoplasmadynamic" or "magnetohydrodynamic (MHD)" field.
UFOs in UK, US called 'octopus, jellyfish, amoeba, cocoon, biological'
Citizens in the UK and United States have reported similar large, glowing objects in the sky that have been described as looking like an "octopus," "jellyfish," "amoeba," "cocoon" and having "a biological shape." The most recent case involves an investigation into damage to a wind turbine near Conisholme, England. Around the time of the damage to the 213-foot-high wind turbine, a UFO was spotted that witnesses said had "tentacles of light," the Guardian newspaper reported. Local resident John Harrison said he witnessed a "massive ball of light with tentacles going right down to the ground" above a nearby wind turbine farm on Jan. 4, 2009. "It was huge. With the tentacles it looked just like an octopus," he was quoted as saying by the UK newspaper The Sun.
UFO in UK resembles Texas, Ohio sightings
Similar descriptions of a glowing, orange object in the sky have been reported this year in Texas, Ohio and now in England. A Texas constable said it was like a "jellyfish" or "parachute." An Ohio woman said she sighted something that looked like an "amoeba" that moved over the treetops. An Ohio truck driver stated he saw something "organic." Now, witnesses in the UK report a UFO like "octopus" or with "tentacles."
UFO over UK wind farm sparks theories
Questions are increasing about damage to a wind turbine in the UK on Jan. 4, 2009, that reportedly occurred at the same time witnesses reported a large glowing orange unidentified flying object (UFO) nearby. International mainstream media are now reporting on the unusual case. Witnesses, who are reported to be reliable according to news accounts, said the object appeared to have "tentacles" and an octopus-like appearance.
Year of UFOs in Stephenville ending with more sightings
It looks like nearly the entire year of 2008 was filled with UFOs and other unusual goings-on in the town of Stephenville and Erath County, Texas. As late as Oct. 23, people in Erath County were still spotting very odd lights and an object hovering in the sky.

If Buswell does have questions about some of the unusual aspects of the 9/11 attacks, he is not alone.

This phenomenon has been studied by people who sometimes come to different conclusions about what the experiences are.
