He has worked for various UN agencies, including UNROD (United Nations Relief Operations in Dacca), which was set up after Bangladesh's independence; the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, and the Dhaka office of the UN Development Programme. He has also worked for UNHCR in Somalia and the World Food Program in Uganda.
