The First Casualty of the Arab Spring
After a series of damning encounters with the Israeli state and its head, Benjamin Netanyahu, it became evident that Obama was no fan of Israel. The community organizer extraordinaire, however, did recognize a perfect venue to further endanger the tiny democracy in the Middle East, and he would ironically use the guise of democracy in Egypt to remove one of the biggest barriers of security for the Jewish people.
Right Wing vs Wrong Wing
Early this year, in February, the State of Wisconsin was in a state of upheaval with union protesters storming the capitol building and Democratic senators fleeing the state to avoid troopers who would round them up and return them to do their jobs. Democratic leader Mark Miller told George Stephanopoulos that if enacted, Walker's bill would be a disaster.
Here Come Those Demagogue Tears Again
The clarion call is still the misnomer that the "rich" and the corporations fail to pay their fair share of taxes. Democrats don't see a spending problem...they see a revenue problem. Think of the alcoholic blaming the liquor store for running out of booze.
The Cain Mutiny
Herman Cain may run for President of the United States. While that would be a giant step forward for Americans, it may also signal the end of the Democratic stranglehold on the Black electorate.
Mindless Equivocation and Hubristic Hypocrisy
The evidence abounds, from Obama's "most transparent administration" despite his numerous closed-door sessions, to the sudden doctrine that borrowing and massive spending lead us to prosperity, and the selective memory and reasoning of those now in power. Consider the actions of Obama regarding Libya, where the president committed U.S. forces to combat with virtually no Congressional consent and a fragile coalition now in rapid backpedal.
He Can't See Russia at All
As the people of Libya fight their dictatorial leader for freedom, Barack Obama picks his March Madness NCAA brackets on TV, and plays golf on the weekends. As Japan struggles with the horrendous aftermath of an earthquake, a resultant tsunami and several nuclear reactors on the precipice of meltdown, Obama is planning to jet off to Rio, where he will give some meaningless speech about something while his family enjoys the sights.
The New Catch Phrase: Constitutional Fetish
During the lead up to the passage of Obama Care, when constituents demanded of their representatives to know the Constitutional authority of Congress to ram it down our throats, some said that they didn't care about that document. They said it was too imperative to get the bill - which they hadn't even read - passed. Big mistake. People embraced the Constitution even more tightly.
Spendaholics: Why the Tax Cut Compromise Was Necessary
No, nothing would be gained by these tax hikes other than the further subjugation of even more of the populace and, as a result, increased dependence, which is exactly what the Left wants. Just like the pusher, Liberal politicians know full well that without a dependent constituency, power will be lost. Can´t have that, can we?
The Faith of Gore´s Apocalypse
Initially, it was all about the science. We were told that the leading scientists from around the globe were in total agreement that Man was destroying the planet. We were admonished that to deny it was pointless and foolish, and that further debate was unnecessary because, as they said, the "science is settled".
Homogeneous Tea Party? Never!
They are the group "No Labels", a consortium of like-minded individuals passionately committed to accept without question virtually anything the government wishes to inflict upon them. Their slogan is "No Left, No Right, Forward", and their doctrine is to firmly refuse to take a stand on any issue. Other than labels, of course. Labels are bad.
The Curious Case of Brian Aitken
When Brian purchased the weapons in Colorado, he had to pass FBI and CBI background checks. He owned the guns legally, and transported them legally based upon the advice he sought from every law enforcement agency he could imagine he would need to avoid any trouble. Now he was facing trial in Burlington County, New Jersey.
To Fetch a Pail of Water
For an example of Shar'ia Law, we'll take a look at a recent case in Pakistan, where a Christian mother of five has been sentenced to hang by the neck until dead. What kind of heinous criminal is this woman who deserves such a brutal end? Certainly her crime must be so horrendous that she must be removed from the Earth, leaving her five children without a mother. To the adherents of the gentle Muslim faith, it was.
Or Forever Hold Your Peace
So many societies have historically experimented with the philosophy of totalitarianism masquerading as compassion - and failed miserably - that we should know better than to keep trying, but the powerful are a stubborn lot. Then again, the powerful never understood the pain of what they had wrought until they lost. Expend no sympathy on their behalf, however, because whatever they experienced at the end was nothing compared to the devastation left in their wakes.
Ain't That America
Our ever-expanding urban centers are festering pools of dependence, bitter reminders of the spoiled fruits of government dominance. In stark contrast to the fiercely independent spirit of ordinary people like the denizens of Wilmington, big cities are indicative of what the controlling influences of "benevolent" tyranny reap.
Vietnam Outrage Continues
So every year we have Veterans' Day, a time when we offer our thanks to those brave souls, hold parades for them, and now, in the electronic age, pay tribute to them all over the Internet. Sadly, what still eludes the "Vietnam Alumni" is the recognition they have never been given by the body that sent them to that Hell, a Hell that they faced with valor, and for which they were greeted upon their return as villains.
The Guitar Has No Strings
Paul Krugman is a columnist for the New York Times, writing on political issues based heavily on the economic aspects thereof. He has been awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics. He is also Professor of Economics and International Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University as well as Centenary Professor at the London School of Economics. Very smart guy, that Krugman; some would say infallible. Some, but not all...
New York's Teachable Moment
The Progressives of government successfully convinced the masses of their philanthropic intent, somehow managing to leave out of the equation that it was being exercised through theft from those who would not be the recipients. The recipients, meanwhile, were unaware that there would eventually be a price to pay, albeit not monetary, for their care. Until now.
The Road to Utopia
Theoretically, "Utopia" is a place devoid of conflict of any kind. In a Utopian world, no one has wants, no one has needs, no one suffers. While it may sound like a wondrous place, it is inherently impossible in the physical world unless administered by a regime completely absent of conscience.
Silent Screams
There are many amongst the Republican party who yearn for a return to Conservative ideals for the brand, keeping the party alive while transforming it back to the days of Reagan. But with betrayal after betrayal, such as those of Arlen Specter and Dede Scozzafava, no assurances will any longer suffice. If the mere threat of a serious challenge by Conservatives appears to alter the current course of the Republicans, what guarantees do we have that, once elected, they won't revert back to their liberal ways?
Not Afraid To Fight
Obama's bravery in taking on the media.
About Camelot
Why do we blindly and gratefully accept the alleged benevolence of those who have none to offer? We are in control of this country, no?
How Many Times Forgiven?
Criminalizing God
Eight More Days
Congress - in their infinite wisdom - has fast-tracked yet another bill through the House, this one for an additional $2 billion to keep the "Cash for Clunkers" program alive. After having woefully calculated the first $1 billion's longevity - it was designed to last until the end of November but was gone after four days - Congress has determined that it would be a good thing to extend the program for another eight days, apparently.
TARP For Main Street?
Mr. Frank wants to take $1 billion from dividends paid by financial institutions to the federal government and put it into a trust fund for low-income rental housing. Next, he wants another $1.5 billion from TARP dividends for a "neighborhood stabilization" fund. How this money would be distributed is unknown, but some speculate that it would be through "community organizing" groups.
Emulate The East
The climate has been steadily cooling since the turn of the century. In fact, just since the release of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, the average global temperature has dropped .74 degrees fahrenheit. That is strange considering that CO2 concentrations have continued to rise.
International Media Malfeasance
Despite the undeniable legality of the actions of Honduras in the ouster of Zelaya, our own administration is demanding that he be returned to the presidency at once, and "news" organizations continue to misrepresent the situation. One such outlet goes a step further.
The Epitome Of Hypocrisy
Democrats are furious over Republicans speaking out on the effectiveness of "harsh interrogation" techniques.
America: State Of Diminished Liberty
From a grand and picturesque position in the middle of New York harbor, Lady Liberty has been both a reminder of the gratitude of the nation of France for our very existence and a welcome center for the wretched of the world seeking that which many of us have long since taken for granted; liberty. T...
