Khejri Tree can predict earthquakes- says a report.
Of the other forecasting methods, plants like Khejri (Prosopis cineraria ) is now catching the eyes of geoscientists. According to a research report in Rajasthan State of India, we can gauge the geological tremors through the leaves of Khejri.
250 feet high hill collapsed overnight near Ranchi city of India.
On 8th October in local news paper one news baffled me. The news stated that a 250 feet high hill vanished in thin air overnight. The incident happened some 50kms away from the Ranchi city, the capital of Jharkhand State of India. The crumbling of a section of the huge ´Jumbla´ Mountain Range in the Angara Circle of Ranchi district has posed a question mark on vanishing of 250 feet High Mountain.
REMOTE SENSING APPLICATIONS FOR WATER RESOURCES.
Whether for irrigation, power generation, drinking, manufacturing, or recreation, water is one of our most critical resources. Visual Image interpretation can be used in a variety of ways to help monitor the quality, quantity, and geographic distribution of this resource and also deciphering ground water with help from aerial photograph.
Dinosaur eggs found in India.
Hundreds of fossilized dinosaur eggs have been found underneath a river stream at a tiny hamlet in the Ariyalur district of Tamil Nadu in India. Geologists believe that the eggs are at least 65 million years old. According to the researchers these eggs belongs to the most aggressive Carnosaur and the docile, leaf eating Sauropod at Sendurari village.
Global warming threats agriculture- with special reference to India
Global warming intensifies drought conditions in regions that already face dry conditions, particularly in [ Sub] continental interiors. The IPCC´s report in 2007 says that "increased continental temperatures are expected to lead to greater evaporation and drying, particularly important in dry regions where surface moisture is limited… drought has become more common, especially in the tropics and subtropics, since the 1970s … more intense and larger drought have been observed.
Does water really exists on the Moon surface?
And as we look towards the Moon with thoughts of setting up a permanent home there, one new question is paramount: does the Moon have water? Although none has been definitely detected, recent evidence suggests that it's there. Is it true? Seeing the early analytical report of the moon rock samples, it is very early to predict water on the moon.
Human footprints found near Ranchi city in Jharkhand State of India.
Two pair of human foot prints which I encountered some 40 kms west of Ranchi city of Jharkhand State of India is little different with other common foot prints found in other parts of the world. Toes are absent. The foot prints seem to be imprinted in the granite rocks by the earlier habitants of the area. Villagers believe that these foot prints belong to the Lord Ram and Lord Lakshman.
Effect of Urbanization on Ground water in Ranchi city, India.
The process of urbanization and industrialization from last 20 years has caused changes in the water table as a result of decreased recharge and increased withdrawal. Many of the small ponds which were main source of water in the surrounding areas are now filled for different construction purpose affecting the water table. Lots of DEEP- BORING in the Ranchi city has also forced the water table to move down as well as Ranchi plateau.
Are Impact Craters Useful?
The enrichment of heavy metals in the outer crust appears to be the result of extra-terrestrial impact especially in the earlier part of the history of the earth. Impact Structures are not just some special features; they are to be recognized as the result of normal processes operating on the earth and have to be studied in detail with all care to locate them. In the present age where satellite images and aerial photographs on different scales are available, such studies are specially warranted.
Sedimentation by Himalayan Rivers may cause Earthquakes and Land subsidence in Eastern India.
Presently sedimentation loads are being considered as one of the possible cause of earthquakes. It works on the theory that deposition of sediments alters the loading of the earth´s crust and tectonic stresses in its interior. Such stresses could reactivate preexisting faults.Sedimentation also cause land subsidence.
Glacier melting in Himalayas may bring devastating floods in north Bihar plains of India.
Recent trends are showing that Himalayan glaciers are melting due to impact of global warming. These melting may increase the flow intensity of river water followed by heavy precipitation, flowing through north Bihar plains. Major threat is from Ganga, Kosi and Gandak which are "mountain fed" rivers and are characterized by large catchment areas. Kosi and Gandak should be given more importance as they directly flow into north Bihar plains from the mountain.
Ganga river pollution in India- A brief report.
Ganga, the most sacred of rivers for Hindus, has become polluted for some years now.Things have come to such a pass that the Ganga water is at present not fit just for drinking and bathing but has become unusable even for agricultural purposes.More than 400 million people live along the Ganges River. An estimated 2,000,000 persons ritually bathe daily in the river.Hundreds of the villages and even the big cities depend for their drinking water on this river. For some time now, this romantic view of the Ganges has collided with India's grim realities. During the past three decades, the country's explosive growth (at nearly 1.2 billion people, India's population is second only to China's), industrialization and rapid urbanization have put unyielding pressure on the sacred stream.
No Forest No Oxygen.
With forest resources--"the lungs of the Earth"-- under attack in many regions, some have raised concerns about the planet's oxygen supply. Forests are very important to the world´s climate because they help in rain formation and absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air. As the forests disappear, the weather will change, and some places will dry up.If there were no trees to give us oxygen to breath, we would not be able to live. Trees are known as the oxygen supplier to our planet.
The evolution of the earth´s early atmosphere.
The first atmosphere of the earth, then, contained hydrogen, helium, neon, argon and various other lighter and inert gases, none of which is abundant in the present atmosphere. Most of these on liberation to the air now either escape earth´s gravitational pull because of their low densities or are bound up in minerals by chemically reacting with them. It is likely that the primitive atmosphere did not linger long but was dissipated through these processes.
Radon problem cannot be ruled out in the houses of Ranchi city in India.
Seeing the presence of apatite, sphene and zircon in the Ranchi rocks, presence of Uranium cannot be ruled out. When Uranium is there, presence of Radon cannot be ruled out. It is radioactive gas that comes up from the soil and collects in basements and ground floors, sometimes in well water.
Ranchi city of India is facing acute water crisis.
Inhabitants of Ranchi city of Jharkhand state of India are facing acute water crisis. Most of the dug wells and deep wells and the corporation taps of this populated area have run dry forcing people to consume polluted surface water. Extensive deforestation, urbanization and industrilisation has led to uneven spread of rainfall, on which the water supply from the dams to the city area is depended. Even the ground water table has been affected due to uneven rainfall. From last few years rainfall due to western disturbances during winter season has shown decline trend. This rainfall earlier used to recharge groundwater which helped to maintain water table in peak summer season.
Similarities in concept of evolution of life on earth in Dashavatar and modern Geology.
In Hindu mythology the concept of biological evolution (from fish to modern man) is clearly shown in the form of Dashavatar (ten avatars of Lord Vishnu). If we compare it with geologic time scale of biological evolution, there are some similarities. According to Dashavatar the first avatar of Lord Vishnu was in the form of fish on this earth. If we compare it with biological events on different Geological Time Scale first developed life was also in the form of fish which originated during Cambrian period.
Swine Flue- Is it a work of terrorist group or it is simple case of negligence?
Sudden reports of spreading such diseases arises many questions. Every year we hear about one epidemic or others and we are not able to find the point source of the epidemics. To me I feel that it nothing to do with any natural source. If it had been natural then why it originated only from Mexico and why not India where many people have direct contact with pigs or in other way we can say that their day to day livelihood is dependent on the pigs. Either it is a work of different terrorist groups using it as biological weapons (such as use of Anthrax), or it is a simple case of negligence from our side.
Plant more trees to reduce carbon dioxide.
About 100 gigatonnes of carbon is captured by plants and oceans each year and about the same amount is released back into the environment. But this natural balance is disturbed by human activities such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation. Burning fossil fuels releases more carbon dioxide into the air. Deforestation or thin forest cover on the other hand, results in less carbon being removed from the atmosphere.
Geodes- a fascinating geological wonder.
They are a fascinating geological wonder. From the outside, they appear as any common, ugly rock, but when broken open they reveal a charming display of crystals.Geodes are the discrete bodies of mineral matter, commonly spherical, hollow, and lined inside with crystals of various minerals. Geodes necessarily originate from cavities in rock.
Think twice before using radioactive granite for decorative purpose in your house.
Now a days rock (granite) are now seen as source of dangerous radioactivity. It is in the form of natural background radiation which affects the humans. Humans have always been exposed throughout their period of existence to naturally occurring ionizing radiation.
Did warming helped water to vanish from Mars?
Where all the water went is an important question to scientists piecing together the planet´s geologic history. Perhaps some water seeped into the ground and froze, wound up in polar ice, or was lost from the atmosphere, but scientists can´t account for all of it. Today, based on our observations from orbit, Mars appears to be very dry. There is little water in the atmosphere and only a small amount of water ice in evidence on the surface. If the water really existed on the Mars, which is now proved by different pictures, then where all the waters vanished? Was it the effect of warming or climate change which helped the water to escape from atmosphere?
Forest fires have become a wildcard in the global-warming game.
The burning of forest trees gives off not only carbon dioxide but also a host of other, noxious gases (Green house gases) such as carbon monoxide, methane, hydrocarbons, nitric oxide and nitrous oxide, that lead to global warming and ozone layer depletion. Consequently, thousands of people suffered from serious respiratory problems due to these toxic gases. Burning forests and grasslands also add to already serious threat of global warming. Bushfires that have scorched Australia's Victoria state released millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide and forest fires could become a growing source of carbon pollution as the planet warms.
History of Global Killer- Malaria.
In truth, malaria now affects more people than ever before. It´s endemic to 106 nations, threatening half the world´s population. In recent years, the parasite has grown so entrenched and has developed resistance to so many drugs that the most potent strains can scarcely be controlled. In coming years malaria will strike up to a half billion people. The disease has been with humans since before we were human. Our hominin ancestors almost certainly suffered from malaria. The parasite and the mosquito are both ancient creatures- the dinosaurs might have had malaria-and this longevity has allowed the disease ample time to exploit the vulnerabilities of an immune system.
Tremor felt in stable parts of Jharkhand State of India
Inspite being a part of the stable block, Jharkhand State of India is being rocked by mild to medium tremors. Fresh incidence of earthquake took place on Thursday morning (26th March,2009) when mild tremor was felt in the area of Jamshedpur and Chaibasa. The tremor which was measured 3.8 on the Richter scale, hit the region at 10.14 am and lasted about 15 seconds.
Termite Mounds are the best indicators for gold deposits.
According to different reports, some termite mounds can be so rich in gold that dissolving them and panning the slurry provides a significant side income for poorer residents of tropical regions. The unconventional "termite" technique is increasingly used by western companies looking for gold in Africa. Its advantages are obvious; there is less need for manpower and equipment, which has to be transported to remote areas, often without infrastructure, when the work is left to the termites.
Damodar river pollution in India-blame it on coal.
Today the picture of Damodar or Damuda, considered a sacred river by the local tribals,in Jharkhand State of India is quite like a sewage canal shrunken and filled with filth and rubbish, emanating obnoxious odours. It is also contaminated with toxic metals like arsenic, mercury, flouride, and lead.
There is less oxygen in your blood in mountain- says research.
Climbers summiting Mount Everest have as little oxygen in their bloodstream as residents of coastal areas who are in cardiac arrest- or who have even dead. Four physicians from University College London trekked up Everest and drew their own blood for analysis. They found that because of the altitude, they had about a quarter less oxygen in their blood than is normal for people at sea level.
Three new bacteria species found in stratosphere.
Three new species of bacteria, which are not found in the earth and highly resistant to ultraviolet radiation, have been discovered in the Upper Stratosphere( more than 15 km. above the earth) by India scientists, according to the India Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Murray´s river Mouth of Australia Turns Toxic.
The health of Australia´s Murray Darling river system, already shockingly poor, has just taken a turn for the worse. In the past month, tracts of wetland at the mouth of the Murray have become as corrosive as battery acid, forming a yellow crust of sideronatrite, a mineral that only forms in extremely acid soil.
From where did the water came on Earth?
The question of the origin of water on Earth, or more accurately put, the question of why there is clearly more water on the Earth than on the other planets of the Solar System, has not been clarified. There are various popular theories as to how the world's oceans were formed over the past 4.6 billion years.
Smoke of medicinal plants can kill harmful bacteria.
From time immemorial, human beings have used smoke of medicinal plants for curing disorders. Smoke produced from natural substances has been used extensively in many cultures and famous ancient physicians have described and recommended such use. According to old concept in Hinduism the basis of life has been said to be food. The basis of food is earth. The basis of earth is water and the basis of water is air. If air will be pure, all elements of the chain will become pure, thus purifying and cleansing life itself. For the environmental problem, the Hidus in the earlier days used the vedic science of ´Yagya´ or ´Havan´.
Threat of Nitrate to our environment and health.
The primary health effect from high nitrate levels is methemoglobinemia which affects infants up to 6 months of age and can ultimately result in death. The condition is also called "blue baby syndrome" because the skin appears blue-gray or lavender in color. This color change is caused by a lack of oxygen in the blood. Bacteria that live in the digestive tracts of newborn babies convert nitrate to nitrite (NO2). Nitrite then reacts with hemoglobin, which carries oxygen in blood, to form methemoglobin. Infants suffering from "blue baby syndrome" need immediate medical care because the condition can lead to coma and death if it is not treated promptly.
Can the use of stabilized oxygen cure malaria patient of the Jharkhand State of India?
Recently I received a research paper from one of my friend quoting use of Aerobic Stabilized Oxygen as a remedy for malaria.Research paper claims that Aerobic Stabilized Oxygen is a tasteless, odorless liquid concentrate of non-toxic stabilized molecular oxygen electrolytes. Oxygen destroys harmful anaerobic bacteria without destroying the beneficial aerobic bacteria which we need for good health.

Sutiambe hill is an archeological site located near Kanke in Ranchi district of Jharkhand State of India. This hill not only cradles ancient archaeological remains but it also covered with spectacular geological weathering on the granite gneiss rocks of the hills. This geological weathering resembles very much with the finger prints of some giant ancient animals or a umbrella like hood structure of a hindu mythological snake(cobra or Nagas). Even the caves formed in the hill is a good example of erosional features.
Can global warming be tackled with white paint?
According to a report in The Guardian, the scientist in question is Hashem Akbari from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, US, who suggests painting roads and the rooftops of buildings with the color white to fight global warming. Theory is based on the concept that white colour reflects enough of sunlight and heat back to the atmosphere which will help to delay global warming.
Jharkhand state of India can be the treasure trove of gemstones.
Jewels and gemstones have provided an irresistible attraction to all human beings from time immemorial. They were considered as symbols of wealth and power and wearing attractive jewellery by men and women can be traced back to prehistoric times. The Kosi floods in Bihar, India may trigger major earthquakes in future.
The recent Kosi floods and deposition of sediments in the North Bihar Plain may trigger earthquakes in coming future. Deposition of sediments alter the loading of the earth´s crust and tectonic stresses in its interior. Such stresses could reactivate preexisting faults.
Kosi floods in Bihar, India- Different methods to minimize flood must be adopted.
Large floods on most of the North Bihar rivers in India are a direct result of intense cyclonic storms and depressions. Also due to effect of global warming, glaciers in the Himalayas are melting which are contributing water to the rivers. Water from the melting glaciers and rain water together is creating menace over the area. Seeing devastating floods by the kosi river now it is ripe time to search for the methods which can help to minimize such floods.
COSMOLOGY: DELVING INTO THE MYSTERIES.
The Universe or the cosmos, as conceived today, consists of millions of galaxies. The Universe is infinite, both in time and space. The human conception of the Universe has, however, been different at different times over the long span of history of civilization. It was around 6th century BC that man started enquiring into the mysteries of the Universe in an endeavour to rationally analyze the earthly and the heavenly phenomena. They posed to them several questions. What is the Universe? Why things change? Why do things move? What is life? And so on. These questions were of far-reaching significance to the development of modern science.
Kosi floods create panic in Bihar, India- New Big Dam is the only solution.
The swollen Kosi River breaking its embankments and changing course has ravaged many villages on its way to join the river Ganges affecting over a million people in Bihar. Kosi River flows from Nepal to India and is known as the ''Sorrow of Bihar'' for the havoc it wreaks in many districts of the eastern state each year. The important solution to prevent this flood is to build big dams in Bihar bordering Nepal. Seeing the area coming under seismic zones proper precaution must be taken in building the Dams.

WE ARE ALWAYS UNDER THREAT BY TERRESTRIAL RADIATIONS
Terrestrial sources contribute about 84 per cent of the total radiation from natural sources to which an individual is exposed. This dose is about 2 mSv per year and includes overall (indoor as well as outdoor) radiation dose. It is an accumulated effect arising from a number of materials around such as rocks, soil, water, air, food and even from within the human body. The sources of terrestrial radiation are certain elements which are radioactive and some radionuclides created at the time of formation of the earth.

ANCIENT ASTRONOMY:NO UNIVERSAL THEORY
For tens of thousands of years, human beings have been fascinated by the patterns of stars in the sky above Earth. Early on, they noticed that the Moon changed shape from night to night as well as its position among the stars.
Is Earth part of our solar system ?
If you closely view our solar system you will find that our earth looks totally different from other planets. As if it is a foreign member intruded in solar system or been trapped in between the solar system. Our Earth is full of life and water. Prominent gases are Nitrogen and oxygen. It is active planet. If you put these definitions on other planets the answer is totally opposite. If we consider about the new definition of the planet, other than it orbits the sun and is large enough to have become round due the force of its own gravity and dominate its neighborhood, earth has no other similarity with other planets.
Radioactive wastes enters village in Jharkhand State of India
Owing to the record 338.1 mm rainfall on June 17 in Jharkhand State of India, maximum in the past six decades, radioactive wastes from the tailing pond of Turamdih uranium mines on the outskirts of the Jamshedpur city has reportedly spilled over into the village ponds, wells and fields.

The history of earth´s climate is characterized by change. Times of glaciation on the earth have been followed by warm intervals and the duration in years of both cold and warm intervals has varied by several orders of magnitude.
IS IT SAFE TO BURY CARBON DIOXIDE TO REDUCE GLOBAL WARMING?
One way to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere is to capture it and put it somewhere. The process is called CO2 capture and storage. It is being done on a small scale right now. It has the potential to make a significant difference in the amount of CO2 we release into the atmosphere but there are possible risks of capturing carbon dioxide.
IS INCREASING CARBON DIOXIDE COOLING OUR EARTH?
Most computer models suggest that the globe will warm up 1.5 degree centigrade to 4.5 degree centigrade if carbon dioxide reaches the predicted level of 600 ppm by the 2050. Although this may be largely true, there are other possible mechanisms that could act in the opposite direction. For instance the sulphate aerosols-the tiny bit of dust that are also added to the atmosphere when fossil fuels are burned by human activity, may cool the climate. The aerosols reflect away the sun´s radiation. Thus, they partially counter the warming that may be caused by the greenhouse gases. However, the degree to which these emissions might reduce the impact of greenhouse gases is not yet fully understood.
Did God created the rocks of our Earth in less than 3 minutes?
Over the last 10 to 20 years, evidence has been gathered which seems to indicate that the earth was created in an instant as mentioned in different religions. The evidence comes from the study of a feature of many igneous rocks ( rocks made by lava).
