James Callard

James Callard is a retired Air Force Colonel who now lives in Del Norte, Colorado when he is not messing around in a boat. A distinguished graduate of the Naval War College, he taught at Fort Lewis College, the University of Colorado at Denver, the USAF Academy, and the National War College in Washington DC.

He is a frequent op-ed contributor to Colorado newspapers, High Country News, and his journal publication, "An Emerging Synthesis for a New Way of War: Combination Warfare and Future Innovation," was published in the Winter/Spring, 2002 issue of Georgetown Journal of International Affairs and cited in a Robert Kaplan article in the July/August 2003 issue of the Atlantic Monthly. He was a member of the John Kerry foreign policy task force during the 2004 presidential campaign. He was also state co-coordinator for Colorado Veterans for Kerry.

He is a 1973 graduate of the Air Force Academy and has Master of Arts degrees in history from Northern Arizona University and in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College.
