Attorney General Holder Considering Appointment of Special Prosecutor But Devil is In the Details. We Need a Full-Fledged, Independent Investigation and Prosecution.

The American taxpayer is on the hook for $7.7 billion. Are we getting our money's worth? This is the time to advocatefor the economy we want -- one that serves the interests of the people first. You´d think for $7.7 trillion we´d get health care for all, tax relief or free college education! But Americans got none of that. Is this a wise use of tax dollars? Are there better ways to use this money? Will this trickle down approach work this time, even though it has failed in the past?
Corporate controlled government is the root cause of the auto company crisis, just as it is the culprit the the problems in health care and the financial markets. Congress is not taking responsibility for its actions. Solving the auto crisis is an opportunity to create a new economy that puts the interests of the people first.
The G-20 met and had a gourmet dinner with $500 bottles of wine but did nothing to save the world economy. All measures of the economy showed declines -- rapid declines. The Fed and Treasury are acting without transparency -- hiding what they are doing. Paulsen is flailing, changing course, unsure and the Congress is in gridlock. The people need to get organized to demand the economy they want for the 21st Century.
Early voting is like watching an election meltdown in slow motion. Long lines, machine breakdowns, machines switching votes, machines not counting ballots, voter deception, registration fraud, challenges to voters . . . The U.S. democracy has a long way to go before it achieves its objectives of being the greatest on earth. You can take action now and after the election join in a democracy movement to make democracy work.
Since the bailout Wall Street has continued to party -- high on the hog -- and plans large slary payments and discretionary bonuses. The Treasury Department has been hiding key information from bailout watchdogs. Another economic stimulus is coming. It is an opportunity for Americans to create the economy they want: democratic, equitable and sustainable. But, it will only happen if people get organized and active. The time is now as change is on the way.
The United States cannot afford to rebuild its economy and continue two war-quagmires as well as expand the military budget. The U.S. needs to choose -- its economy or the military budget. It cannot afford both.
The multiple crisis faced by the United States are an opportunity to put in place the economy we want: a democratized economy where many profit from the wealth created; a new energy economy that is fossil-free/nuclear-free based on clean, sustainable energy and one that meets the necessities of the people rather than provides profits to mega corporations.
Progressives Push for Bankruptcy Reform and Economic Stimulus
See Below for the Action Step You Should Take Today: The Battle of the Bailout is Not Yet Over
The Senate voted 75-25 in favor of the bailout, with support from both sides of the aisle, essentially an even vote between Republicans ...
Sen. Obama expressed agreement with Sen. McCain more than a dozen times in 90 minutes. It seemed to serve him well as a debate tactic. But, was this the debate the United States needed? Why is the U.S. having such limited debates at such a critical time in our history?
Coordinated voter action is having an impact. The bailout can be stopped and alternatives to saving the U.S. economy can be put in place. But, we need people to act NOW to make a difference. And, we need you to urge others to join you in acting. We provide you the tools you need to take action. Take action today.
The Bailout may have saved the U.S. and world from a depression but it showed corporate-government at its worst. The taxpayers are paying for some of the most irresponsible financial risk taking in history. Those who profited will keep their profits while Americans carry the burden. The two corporate parties showed who they represent and it wasn't the people.
Polls Indicate Non-Duopoly Candidates Could Determine Outcome of the Election
Ron Paul held what he described as a "very important" press conference on September 10th in Washington, DC. The event brought four third party and independent candidates "together in unity" around a statement of princ...
Obama-Biden are behind McCain-Palin in post-convention polls. Obama needs the peace vote. The anti-war vote helped him win the nomination against Hillary Clinton, but Obama has taken the vote for granted. Can he get peace voters to support him? Does he deserve to? What should peace voters do?
The Republican Party put on a lot of false masks during their convention. They ran away from being Republicans, ran away from supporting President Bush and tried to protray themselves as reformers and change agents. In reality they will be advocates for the status quo who will continue the policies of Bush-Cheney. Of course, the Democrats wore their false masks as well. Time for voters to look behind the masks and see their real choices.
It is time to hold Sen. Obama accountable. He has called for ending the mindset of war. As he travels through the Middle East and Europe it is time for him to begin that process. Do Peace Voters have the courage of their convictions? Sign a petition to urge Sen. Obama to end the mindset of war.
The New Yorker examines the rise of Obama in Chicago politics and rather than finding a candidate of change, finds a candidate of the status quo. One who knocked opponents off the ballot by challenging signatures on petitions, redistricted his legislative district to his liking in Tom Delay style and stepped over allies when they got in the way. It is an article which raises the expectation that those wanting change are likely to be disapponted when Obama becomes president.
Nader criticzed Obama for not challenging the "white establishment." Obama responded by Criticizing Nader. But is Nader right? And, if he is will this be the issue that undermines his credibility with the voters?
Not only is Obama going to swamp McCain in funding now that he has abandoned the campaign finance system (one estimate of the Obama Campaign is it will have $600 million to spend compared to McCain's FEC limited $85 million) but it looks like Sen. Obama will not have to deal with the Swift Boat vers...
In the two articles below Linda Schade and Kevin Zeese make the case that the new energy economy -- the green economy -- is the key to urban america's come back. In fact, as the realities of expensive oil and climate change hit the U.S. is going to have to move to more local economies, more densly ...
The candidates are selected. Neither Obama or McCain will end the Iraq war, take military action against Iran off the table and both will expand the size of the U.S. military. Neither is a peace candidate. What is a peace voter to do?
Tell Your Congressman to Vote for HR 5036 "The Emergency Election Assistance for Secure Elections Act"

Three legitimate third party-independent campaigns will all be urging a real end to the Iraq occupation while the two parties put forward candidates that will not end the occupation. Two-thirds of American voters side with the independent campaigns. The Democrats, in particular, better watch out as they are counting on the peace vote. If they want that vote they better work for it and support a real end to the Iraq occupation.
Sen. Obama has been given the title of peace candidate by the corporate media but he recently said he would leave 140,000 U.S. mercenaries in Iraq, tens of thosands of non-combat troops and keep combat troops in the region to serve as a strike force. He will also keep the gigantic U.S. Embassy and the long-term military bases. This is not a withdrawal, it is an ongoing occupation. Is it time for the peace movement to protest Obama?
The peace movement needs to stay unified during the election year as no matter who is elected unified action will be required to end the war and prevent future unecessary wars. The way to stay unified is to push all candidates to really ending the war. None of the Democrats or Republicans currently do so.
