Tornadoes set for sequel at Faith Christian
Nov. 5--On year ago, a gesture made by one high school football team and their fans resonated across the nation to the point that now, a movie is in the works about the event.
Just call Friday the sequel.
A year ago, former Sacred Heart coach Kris Hogan, who now coaches at Grapevine Faith Christian, organized fan support for the Gainesville State School football team when the Tornadoes came to play his team. Hogan sent out an email before the game encouraging Faith Christian fans to sit on the Tornadoes' side, cheer for the visiting team, form a spirit line for the team to run through before the game, and feed the team after the game.
The story was picked up by newspapers and other media outlets around the country. Hogan even got to attend this year's National Football League Draft after NFLcommissioner Roger Goddell heard about his actions.
Friday, the Gainesville State School Tornadoes will wrap up their season with another road game against Faith Christian and they will find the same hospitality they saw last year. In fact, Faith Christian officials are expecting such a big crowd for the game they have set up a shuttle bus service to carry fans from an extra parking lot to the stadium.
Once again, fans of the home team will sit on the visitor's side and cheer for the opposing team. They are also asking those fans to wear black and white, the school colors of the Tornadoes.
In addtion, they are hosting a "Hands and Feet Outreach" to collect new ankle socks and gloves that will be donated to Gainesville State School students.
