BRIEF: MCA girls win volleyball titles
Nov. 3--The Marion Christian Academy Lady Knights captured their second consecutive Blue Ridge Christian Conference volleyball championship, and followed it up by winning the conference tournament as well.
The Lady Knights went undefeated in conference play.
Marion Christian coach Heather Burnette said her team had to overcome some early jitters to win the tournament.
"We came to the tournament with a lot of confidence," said Burnette. "But out of the gate, tournament stress was painfully obvious. We made a lot of errors. Nerves were our biggest obstacle, but we worked through it and made the plays we needed to win."
The Lady Knights were led by the play of all-conference trio Haley Broadwell, Tiffany Watson and Kelsie Jones.
"We have improvements to make," said Burnette. "But we have come a long way. I am so happy for them, that they get to walk out of the season with both titles."
