Error Message "kernel must be loaded before booting" while booting Linux operating System
A Linux Kernel program acts as a nucleus of a computer operating system. This central component is the first part of the operating system that gets loaded into the memory during the booting process. Furthermore, the services offered by this program are required continuously from the starting to the end of the session.
An error message while booting the Linux operating system mainly occurs due to unbootable Kernel, file system damage, software bugs are more. In such situations, the operating system becomes unmountable and the data saved in a particular hard drive partition becomes inaccessible.
To recover the data saved in the hard drive partition, you need to restore it from the latest backup. However, in case of no backup availability, you need to recover and restore it by using powerful and advanced Linux Data Recovery software.
Consider a practical scenario, where you are working on a Linux based operating system (Ubuntu 8.10) and suddenly the system shuts down due to power outag. When you restart your computer, you receive the below error message:
"Error 8: kernel must be loaded before booting"
Cause:
The above error message mainly occurs if GRUB is told to execute the boot sequence without having a kernel to start. A GRUB is a boot loader element that is used in multi-boot devices to recognize file systems and load boot images. You encounter the same error message each time you try to boot Ubuntu 8.10 on your system.
Resolution:
To resolve the above error and access the data, you need to boot Ubuntu 8.10 by using a LiveCD. After inserting the CD, you need to type the below command:
Sudo fdisk –l
After running the above command, you need replace sdxy by using the below command:
Sudo mkdir /mnt/tst
Sudo mount –t ext3/ dev/ sdxy/ mnt/ tst
Lastly, you need to paste the outputs by using these commands:
Cat /mnt/tst/boot/grub/menu.lst
Ls /mnt/tst/boot
But, if you the same error message appears even after following the above steps or you are unable to start the system using the LiveCD, then you need to reinstall Ubuntu operating system. Reinstalling Ubuntu operating system will erase all the formerly saved data from the hard disk.
In such situations, you need to recover the data by using advanced Linux Data Recovery software. Such Data Recovery Linux utilities employ influential and high-end scanning methods to recover and restore the lost data from the hard disk. These recovery applications are compatible with storage media like SCSI, SATA, EIDE and IDE hard drives.
