Detectives Seek Public's Help to Identify Suspect(s) Responsible for a Pig Statue Theft

San Diego County Crime Stoppers, working with Chula Vista Police Department detectives, is seeking the public's assistance to identify and locate the suspect(s) responsible for the theft of a pig statue valued at approximately $15,000 dollars.

On April 5, 2009, at about 5:35 a.m., two unknown suspect(s) stole a 3' tall bronze pig statue (valued at about $15,000) from a strip mall in front of Miguel's restaurant at 970 East Lake Parkway in Chula Vista.

A nearby surveillance video camera caught two suspects and their vehicle on camera. The suspects were seen casing the pig on Saturday, April 4, 2009 around 11:00 p.m. The suspects returned at about 5:35 a.m. the following morning and stole the pig.

Surveillance video shows the suspect vehicle backing up, jumping the curb, and bumping the bolted pig off its mount. The suspect's placed the pig in the bed of the truck and fled the scene.

Suspect #1: Adult male, possibly mid 30's, medium build. He was wearing a short sleeve t-shirt with the words, "This Shirt is Illegal" printed on the front and a large cross on the back.


Suspect #2: Adult male, possibly late 20's, thin build. He was wearing a baseball cap and a hooded sweatshirt.

Suspect Vehicle: Newer model, white quad-cab (4-door) pickup truck, possibly with custom chrome rims.

For information leading to an arrest, you could receive up to a $1,000 reward and remain anonymous. The qualification of any person(s) for the reward and the amount of the reward for any person(s) so qualifying will be determined by San Diego County Crime Stoppers, Inc, in its sole discretion.
