Payday's Coming

Robert Owens
The Congressional proponents of behavioral economics and social change have caused the very problems we´re struggling to survive and they´re rushing headlong to solve. Many of the talking-heads who shape public opinion have forgotten the entire economic crisis we currently face was started by the problems at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac before Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy and Bank of America bought Merrill Lynch with a government credit card.

We´re reminded constantly all our current problems find their cause in a lack of regulation and that the Bush administration was asleep at the switch if not in outright collusion with casino capitalists who bet all our money and lost. It´s too bad the facts don´t support that particular urban myth. There´s 1,870,000 pieces of evidence in .32 seconds a mere one click away that documents Congress was amply warned by the Bush Administration, Greenspan, even "Me Too" McCain offered a bill to strengthen the oversight of Fannie and Freddie. These measures were blocked by the likes of Barney Frank, Charles Schumer and the usual cast of characters. It´s an old ploy of statists and wanabe collectivists to create emergencies that have to be addressed immediately. "There´s no time to read the bill just VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!" screech the cheerleaders as the perpetually re-elected fume, fizzle and posture before taking out a fifteenth mortgage from a Chinese bank. How could this ever go wrong?

Every generation has its challenges. My parents faced the Depression, Hitler and Mutually Assured Destruction. We face an economic system that´s melting down and the statists who have been empowered to deal with it. I´m still not sure which is worse. I am sure which will have the most far reaching long-term effect. The business cycle has been going on since Ugg tried to corner the market on round rocks. Bubbles inflate as people think, "Wow the price of round rocks is going through the roof! I better get in on this." Then the price of rocks not only goes through the roof it goes into orbit and Ugg makes a big pile of banana leaves until people notice round rocks are really just rocks and everyone ends up with a worthless pile of rocks as Ugg moves on to corner the market on flat rocks and the whole cycle repeats itself. This current meltdown is terrible and my heart goes out to all who´re suffering through it especially the ones who never had anything to do with the round rock market. However, this too shall pass.

The revolutionary changes being tossed out on a daily and sometimes even an hourly basis by the statists will be with us until there is a counter -evolution (at the ballot box). They´re institutionalizing the statist principles of the Frankfurt School and Saul Alinsky, the original Chicago Community Organizer. America like Gulliver will remain tied by the threads of the Lilliputians until these many collectivist measures are repealed in a radical return to Constitutional government.

From bailing out Ugg and his round rock scam to telling the tribe they need to fire Ugg is a quantum shift. Our government has lent money and made grants to businesses from the Federal Roads through the Rail Road to Chrysler. However, when bureaucrats in Washington start deciding who works where and how much they´re paid we´ve moved far to the left of where we began. However, anyone who thinks the train has reached the station and we can now get off in the Brave New World needs to sit down, buckle their legally required seat belt put on their legally required helmet and brace for the bullet train to spin off more paradigm shifting changes at the speed of lies. All aboard! Next stop Stimulus 2, Cap-N-Tax, Trillion Dollar Deficits, Comprehensive Amnesty Voter Enhancement, the World Poverty Tax and the End of American Exceptionalism.

How do those who want a return to Constitutional government proceed? It seems as if many are asking that question and there seem to be answers popping up all over the place. Using the Internet to reach everyone at once there´re many sites offering education and unity for those opposing the imposition of central planning. These include the 912project.com, ourcaucus.com, goooh.com, resistnet.com and others added daily. There´re also countless local groups springing up spontaneously around the country. These groups of citizens remind me of the Committees of Correspondence which were catalysts of the first American Revolution. Our statist leaders believe they´ve built a cage of legislation strong enough to constrain the creativity and energy of the American people and their capitalist system like the goose that laid the golden egg. However, I believe there´s a surprise coming and it might just start with thousands of tea parties across the country on tax day which reminds me of an old song, "Payday´s coming someday."
