Democrat Scott Murphy Poised to Win Congressional Seat

In This Tough Economy, People in NY-20 Deserve Representation in Congress as Quickly as Possible.

Glens Falls, NY — The State Supreme Court in New York sided with the congressional campaign of Scott Murphy Monday and agreed that absentee ballots should start to be counted on Wednesday, April 8, as scheduled.

Before the polls even closed on Election Day, the Republicans filed a lawsuit to slow down the vote count. In court Monday, anti-military candidate Jim Tedisco´s campaign attempted to delay the counting of ballots until next week.

Murphy´s campaign is represented by election law expert Henry T. Berger.

"We´re pleased with today´s court ruling ensuring domestic absentee ballots will begin being counted this week," said Henry T. Berger. "The people of the 20th Congressional District need their votes counted in a timely manner, so they can be represented in Congress as quickly as possible in these tough economic times. We are confident that once all the absentee ballots are counted, Scott Murphy will win this election."

The deadline for counties to receive military and non-military overseas ballots is April 13, 2009 and they are scheduled to be counted beginning on April 14, 2009
