Obama´s bailout and others lack of ideas

The US government recently put in a couple of billions to take a 36% stake in Citibank. This is to help the company tide over hard times and the first ever loss it had suffered in recent history. Also the bailout presumably forestalls failure of the company.

Just a couple of days ago the CEO of Citi Vikram Pandit was paid a bonus of $108 million. What is it for? Is it because he secured the bailout package? The payment of such a bonus appears strange, but little noise is made about it.

I heard on the radio that a Republican governor of a state that ranks fifth lowest in terms of per capita income refused a $750 million (billion?) package from the federal government. He felt that the state economy would be weakened by such an amount.

One area in which spending should always be made is health care for those under 18. They are the future of a home, city and country. Schemes to ensure pregnant mothers receive adequate nutrition are imperative. It has been seen across the world that eating enough does not guarantee proper nutrition.

Another area in which spending can take place is by enhancing education of the population. What better time to do courses than when they are unemployed?
