New Birmingham Runners Injury Clinic shows a clean pair of heels to the recession by catering for the demands of injured marathon runners.

Local business Atlas Sports Injury Clinic in Hall Green, Birmingham have increased their turnover during the last 8 months in spite of the credit crunch and recession. Last Monday saw the launch of a new runners injury clinic from the Robin Hood Island premises where they provide specialist advice and treatments for marathon runners.

The Solihull, Birmingham clinic have recently employed another running chartered sports physiotherapist in Richard Mason who finished 28th in the 2001 Flora London Marathon in a time of 2 hrs 22 mins. Richard joins Sports Podiatrist Peter Taylor who has recorded 1 hour 10 mins for a half marathon.

The award-winning Atlas team has a compliment of practitioners´ expertise in all areas of sports and pain relief. In particular, the clinic specialises in treating runners, offering biomechanical evaluations, video gait analysis, laser foot scanning and prescription orthotics. As a result, Atlas Running Injury Clinic will be the only clinic of its kind in the West Midlands to be included in the recommended injury clinics by the Flora London Marathon 2009.

The new website, www.runninginjuryclinic.co.uk will also support runners as part of the teams ongoing investment into this area.

Lengthy waiting lists on the NHS for treatments like physiotherapy, means that the clinic is providing a welcome alternative to local people suffering needlessly.

Clinic Director John Williams said: "The Atlas Sports Injury Clinic opened eight months ago and demand has grown steadily, mainly from personal recommendations, which has enabled us to provide more practitioners. The Clinic now has an Osteopath, 3 Physiotherapists a Sports Podiatrist and a registered Dietician.

We wanted to include a specialist marathon running clinic which we launched last Monday which has been very well supported by local runners"

Local legends of sport; Ian Taylor Aston Villa FC, David Busst Coventry City FC, and world endurance champion Paddy Doyle, attended the official opening of the Atlas Runners Injury Clinic on Monday 30th March 2009 in support of the ground-breaking team who has successfully treated them in the past and kept them on the road to triumph.
