It was a rainy afternoon that day and I´d stopped my car on the two lane road to await my chance for a left hand turn. I´d be home soon after a long day at work. One, two, three cars passed. I lifted my foot off the brake as my hands turned the wheel to make my turn. The blow of the impact on my rear bumper took me by complete surprise. My seatbelt locked over my chest and my head jerked forward fast, stopping just short of the steering wheel. The snap felt like the end of a bungee cord as the falling body bounces back up, cracking like a whip.

In the following moments, we exchanged insurance information, discussed the wet pavement, and the damage to our cars. Neither of us was bleeding and we both could walk. I think that´s why we didn´t think we were injured. When I got home I took a hot shower to calm my nerves, took an aspirin, and went to bed a bit early. When the headaches started, I didn´t immediately think about whiplash being the cause. I work on a computer all day at work so I thought my chronic neck pain stemmed from that. In 3D animation, it showed my neck in its normal, healthy state, a simulated view of what occurs during whiplash, and the progression of the nerve and tissue damage that can develop if it goes untreated. He gave me a print out of the view that displayed my pinched nerves, which were causing not only my headaches and neck pain, but also the tingling in my arms that I hadn´t associated with the injury. Then he drew on the screen to show me the area my treatment would focus on with the goal of reversing the damage.

When I left the office I knew I´d learned more about my body and my injury than when I´d went in. I appreciated the focused approach my Chiropractor was taking in my treatment and healing. It was somewhat illuminating to learn about the relationship of pain I´d been having in other areas of my body and how it affected my total wellbeing. Chiroglyphix was a big part of that because it clearly demonstrated how my chronic pain would progress. A flat poster on the wall would not have been as effective in showing me how targeted effort could impact my entire body.
