FLORIDA GOVERNOR CHARLIE CRIST DECLARES SEVERE WEATHER STATE OF EMERGENCY IN SEVERAL COUNTIES
on Monday 30, 2009 from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday morning for the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend area.
More than eleven inches of rain, over the past seventy-two hours have fallen in communities located within the Western Panhandle and eleven area rivers have risen over the flood level.
The Shoal, Chipola, Choctawhatchee and Ochlockonee Rivers are predicted over the next forty- eights hours to remain or rise above moderate flood stage. It is expected that more heavy rain would produce quite significant flash flooding in the areas which are already saturated from the heavy rains which occur over the week-end.
Because of these conditions, Governor Charlie Crist, has issued on April 1st 2009, Executive Order 09-81, declaring a state of emergency in Bay, Calhoun, Flanklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Hamilton, Jackson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, Wakulla, Escambia, Gulf, Holmes, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton and Washington counties.
