The Chairperson for Community Board Twelve gave an apology to the Bell Family last night, for the miscommunication of the street name change hearing; stating that there is protocol that must be followed. Mr. and Mrs. Bell and Nicole Paultre´-Bell sat quietly among their many supporters, whose presence made a strong impact. Among their supporters were Councilman Leroy Comrie, Councilman Thomas White, the Executive Director to Councilman White, Mr. Brian Simon, Chris Peoples from the National Action Network, Rosie Pickering from the Kicking it With Rosie Show, The X -Riders, Bishop Lester L. Williams From Community Church Of Chirst, and Leitoya Dixon from the New Black Panther Party, just to name a few.

The Bell Family had diligently prepared for this day, gathering the required documentation requested, in the hopes of receiving acknowledgement for their son Sean Bell, who was gun down in a hail of 50 shots fired by New York Police Officers in 2006; on what would have been his wedding day. Mrs. Bell expressed that the happenings of today just makes her stronger in her fight for justice. As the meeting proceeded on, the minutes from the February 18, 2009 community board meeting were read aloud and the motion for the street naming for Sean Bell was put back on the table.

In the minutes from February 18, 2009, it states that: "Based on this month´s presentation, the committee members examined the documentation and concluded that Mr. Bell met the criteria. …board members be sensitive to next month´s agenda; there will be a presentation by the Bell Family. They have requested to have a street name change…at Liverpool from 94th Street to 101st Avenue." With the minutes read, and the motion for the street name change put back on the table, Community Board Twelve bickered amongst themselves whether to vote on the motion or to schedule the hearing for April 15,2009.

Once again, hope was deferred and the hearing for the street naming for Sean Bell is scheduled for April 15,2009 at: The Robert Ross Johnson Family Life Center : 172-17 Linden Boulevard, St. Albans N.Y. 11434 at 7:00 PM.
