Cherie is out with a new book called Internet Dating is Not Like Ordering a Pizza in which she disperses her wisdom on the dos and don'ts of...you guessed it...Internet dating. We interviewed her to find out more about her book and her life as a published author.
Thank you for this interview, Cherie. Can you tell us briefly what your latest book, Internet Dating is Not Like Ordering a Pizza, is all about?
Internet Dating Is Not Like Ordering a Pizza tells daters how to approach online dating in a way that will get results. The book has dozens of examples on what specifically to write in a profile in order to show your true personality. It also addresses questions like how to (politely) end a date, how to set up a first meeting, and what to say in your initial email.
Can you tell us who are what was the inspiration behind your book?
I hear from online daters quite often about their frustrations with online dating, and in almost every case the root of their problem lies with a bad approach or a poorly written profile. I wanted to write a guide that would really show them how to go about finding someone special online. Internet dating doesn't have to be a negative experience.
Is this your first published book and if so, can you tell us your experiences in finding a publisher for it?
This is my fifth published book. I've written three poetry books, including the award winning Father's Eyes. I've also written another dating-related book entitled At the Coffee Shop.
A few years ago I started my own publishing company, and it has been a wonderful experience.
Do you have an agent?
No. Although it's something I may consider going forward. It would depend on my publishing goals and what I'm trying to accomplish.
Can you tell us how long it took you to write your book and also how long it took from the time it was released?
I started writing the book two years ago. Once I had the draft complete it took about three months for editing and design before I was finally ready to get it published.
Do you have any words of inspiration from other writers who would like to be wearing your shoes?
Don't give up. The world of publishing has changed quite a bit in the last few years, and that means there are more opportunities for writers than ever before.
I understand that you are touring with Pump Up Your Book Promotion in April via a virtual book tour. Can you tell us all why you chose a virtual book tour to promote your book online?
Just like the world of publishing, book marketing has changed in the last several years. Now, readers get introduced to books they'd enjoy through blogs and websites. For a book like, that is centered around the Internet, I can't help think of a better way to find the readers who would most benefit from Internet Dating is Not Like Ordering a Pizza.
What´s next for you?
I've got a diabetes-related book in the works and another dating-related book that is geared for release this year.
Thank you for this interview, Cherie. Can you tell us how we can find out more about you and your new book?
I've enjoyed chatting with you and your readers! You can find out more about me and my books at my website, www.cherieburbach.com.
