Social transformations And Peace
If sufficient economic, judicial and political equality is pursued and promoted by nations, then, people at the bottom of the ladder will not want to topple those at the top. Therefore, engaging people in productive activities and art rather than war, can reduce the killing and maiming. This can improve the general living standards, which in turn will make people more happier and satisfied and automatically reduce conflicts.
However, people are ignorant, aggressive and acquisitive and so, some conflicts do not end. That is why, in every country, it is necessary to have groups that promote nonviolence.
Most conflicts are the result of reliance on non-productive land as a source of food for the poor. Unfortunately, under capitalism, "the consumer is king," and under communist governments, the hierarchy takes care of itself. So, people born in more favorable environments and who have the necessary abilities and motivation get a big share of the wealth while those in less favorable environments remain poor and engage in conflict.
Every nation must redistribute income to the poor, but such efforts do not close the inequality gap sufficiently to prevent poverty. Today, humanitarian organizations redistribute funds to the poor as a result of conflicts. It is amazing to some people that in super-rich countries there are millions of anti-poverty program while people around the world are subject to violence and poverty. The rationale for such policies depress the economy and bankrupt capital producers. Such is the thinking driven by market economics.
In Nepal, the leadership is against creating a more peaceful existence. So, to reduce conflicts, every nation needs to import knowledge.
However, we must have sufficient money to improve the technical competence of our people, either internally or by sending them to foreign schools in sufficient numbers to make a difference economically to the entire world. Scholars can make a major contribution by making a cash flow analysis of the economy to determine with some precision where money comes from and where it goes. That analysis might suggest some social transformations that could accumulate money in sufficient quantities to spend on improving technology.
How to contribute to social transformation? It is helpful to have an idea of how fundamental social change can come about.
However, some internal conflicts can end if nations improve their economies. If we study history, we will find both violent and nonviolent conflicts. However, every nation must be peaceful, both internally and externally. But will they remain so indefinitely?
