Ari Fleisher in the crosshairs of Chris Matthews
No doubt the questions posed by Chris were difficult ones, but they are also ones that many people across America and the globe would like answered. Did the Bush Administration deliberately mislead America into a war with an innocent nation? Did the Bush Administration fail to see the signs of our failing economy before it became a full-blown depression? These and other questions need be answered truthfully once and for all, but it appears that the Bush Administration merely wants to rewrite history to depict how they saw things and not as they actually occurred.
Chris continued to press Ari. Ari visibly squirmed. Chris pressed harder and Ari never quite come clean on his reply. Ari stammered and kept up the typical misleading mantra of the Bush Administration, but we all know otherwise.
Personally, I applaud the efforts of investigative reporters like Chris Matthews and others to get the facts straight about this ill-fated war in Iraq. The Bush Administration gave one reason after another to ramp up that war, but none were actually based on material facts gathered via our intelligence agencies or the IAEA. Condi Rice was equally as culpable in this arrangement when she came out with the yellow cylinders that she claimed were filled with nuclear material and were later found to not be filled with anything of the sort.
Poor Colin Powell was used as a pawn because he was the only credible person in that entire administration who the UN might possibly believe. He helped them support this fictitious war, fell on his sword, and got out of that misguided administration at the soonest possible point afterward. Thank you General Powell for showing the people of America that you have personal integrity and will not sully your reputation for lies and manipulations of material facts!
It is too bad that more people within or affiliated with that administration did not or would not come clean about this and other abuses that occurred during Bush's stint in office. Perhaps, in time, congress will take the time to logically, and methodically, unravel the facts and prosecute these people for their misconduct. It should be the express intent of all American citizens to hold our elected officials to the highest standards in our land. Please do your part by requesting that your representatives in congress pursue this at their earliest possible juncture. Hold our elected officials to the laws that apply to you and me---one standard should fit ALL!
