Uncaught Exception While Installing Windows Vista
Windows Vista has its own set of improved features and installing it in dual-boot configuration with any Windows older operating system like XP gives the flexibility to use both your new and old software versions. Another main reason is the better performance in the older and less resource hungry operating system as Windows XP.
To install Windows Vista in dual-boot configuration, it is recommended that hard disk must have al least two partitions. The partition selection takes place on the Disk Configuration screen, when the setup shows ´Where do you want to install Windows?´ But sometimes, instead of continuing installation after clicking Next, user encounters the following error:
"Error: uncaught exception: (failed UI_ASSERT)."
Note: It is recommended to take data backup of all the existing partitions as to solve the issue user may need to remove all of them. Data backup must be checked on different parameters: completeness and media integrity. In case of insufficient or incapable data backup, Partition Recovery can be required.
Cause
This problem is related to partition table. Partition table is a 16-byte entry located in MBR of hard drive and describes hard drive partitions. The above error message generates when partition table consists of multiple partition entries. Usually, when the mass storage device drive corrupts and partition table gets filled with entries, then they all may point to the same byte offset location. This is the reason behind the above error that comes on selecting the partition to install Windows Vista.
Solution
As the problem arises due to multiple partitions, we need to remove these partitions and then try to reinstall Windows Vista. We can use the diskpart command in the Command Prompt. Data must be backed up before removing partitions and should be checked for consistency.
However, if the backup fails to restore the require information, Partition Recovery Software can provide complete recovery. Such tools offer Partition Recovery using powerful scanning algorithms yet maintaining safe scanning procedures. Partition Recovery applications analyze hard drive for lost, missing or damaged partitions. Through easily comprehensible interface and steps, these Partition Recovery Software serve as easy to work with utilities.
Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery recovers partitions using the most effective scanning algorithms. This Partition Recovery Software supports FAT16, FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file systems based Windows partitions. We can use this Partition Recovery Software with Windows Vista, XP, 2003 and 2000 operating systems to easily recover corrupted partitions.
