Colon Cleansing Foods - The Best Colon Cleanse Foods to Eat

If you suffer from constipation or other types of gastrointestinal distress, one of the best ways to deal with your suffering may be to think about cleansing your colon. The best and safest way to cleanse your colon is to start eating more all natural colon cleansing foods. Changing your diet, and including some herbal supplements, is the safest, most non-invasive way to rid your body of toxins.

Before I get into what foods will support your colon cleanse, let's talk about what foods you need to avoid. You probably already know what they are, I am guessing, but it still needs to be said. You have to cut all of the junk! No more fried foods, fast foods, or bakery products. You should also cut out the coffee and the soft drinks, even if they are sugar free. Cut back on white flour and sugar as much as possible.

Now we can talk about the right foods to eat. The ideal way to cleanse is to adopt a raw food diet as much as possible. But for many of us, that is going to be overly difficult. Initially it can cause some GI distress. So I think it is better to ease into eating more raw foods. It is perfectly fine to steam vegetables to make them easier to digest.

Best Colon Cleanse Foods to Eat

  • Fresh Vegetables - Fresh vegetables are going to have the most impact on how successful you are at detoxing. Think big leafy green salads and less starches. Focus on spinach, broccoli, carrots, beets, and various types of lettuce. Skip the potato.
  • Fresh Fruits - Pretty much any fruit is fine except for extra starchy ones like bananas, but the ideal fruit is berries. Have strawberries, blackberries, blueberries. Enjoy them in their natural state, fresh and sweet.
  • Nuts, Seeds, and Sprouts - Sprouts are terrific for your cleanse. You can add them to your salads. Also, raw nuts and seeds, such as sunflower seeds, walnuts, almonds, etc.
  • Good Oils - you definitely need healthy fats, so add some monounsaturated fats to your diet. You can cook with olive oil, add avocado to your salads or take a fish oil or cod liver oil supplement. It's up to you.
  • Water - No, it's not a food, but drinking more water may be the most important thing you do for your colon cleanse and your health. Have at least 8-10 glasses of water a day.

Once you start eating the right foods, you should start to notice a difference in your health and hopefully your bowel movements within a couple of weeks. Once you have completely eliminated the bad foods, give your new diet about 12 weeks to really make a difference, but even 3-4 weeks should show some significant improvement.

Add a Healthy Colon Cleanser

In addition to my recommended changes to your diet, some extra nutritional support can make a big difference. I find that adding an Acai berry supplement to my detox routine really helps cleanse my colon due to its excellent fiber and antioxidant properties.

For faster and superior results during your cleanse though, you may want to get something like Ultimate Colon Cleanse which will help with the internal cleansing as you change your diet and it also provides some anti-parasite support as well.
