Pimpfant: Pimp Mentality Invades World Of Infants

Robert Paul Reyes
Three 6 Mafia, a rap group, penned "It's Hard Out Here For a Pimp" -- the 2005 Oscar winner for best original song.

It may have been hard out here for a pimp a couple of generations ago, but the pimp has been transformed from a vile, gaudy and reptilian creature into a cool cat worthy of respect and admiration.

The pimp mentality has completely taken over rap music and much of African American culture, and it has made significant inroads into mainstream culture.

Suburban kids drink "Pimp Juice", watch MTV's "Pimp My Ride" and argue over who is the biggest pimp, Snoop Dogg or 50 cent.

The apologists for the misogynist and homophobic rap music that celebrates the pimp lifestyle argue that the word "pimp" is not to be taken literally. A pimp is not a predator who enslaves women and forces them to sell their bodies, but a hipster with a penchant for bling bling , fast cars and hot women -- or so they claim.

The Black Entertainment TV channel is replete with rap videos featuring rappers driving Escalades, wearing bling bling and leering at women dressed as cheap whores. Those raps stars look and act suspiciously like old time pimps and the women look and act remarkably like prostitutes. The street pimp of twenty years ago would recognize Snoop Dog, 50 Cent and most rap stars as colleagues.

This insidious pimp mentality is now even invading the world of infants. For parents who are thrilled that their teen children are dressing and acting like pimps, now they can also dress their infants like pimps.

Welcome to Pimpfant wear: There's an Escalade load of styles to choose from. There's a "Baby Beater" tank top, a "Jr. Pimp Squad" jersey and a T-Shirt that reads "My Mom is a MILF."

Pimpfant baby wear is the brainchild of Jared Parsons, a former skateboarder who must have fallen on his head more than a few times.

Some parents use the excuse that they let their children do things because they understand how intense peer pressure can be. "Yes I let my 11-year old daughter wear halter tops and low-rider jeans with exposed thongs, but she tells me all her friends dress the same way."

I don't think that any infants are begging their parents for a "Baby Beater" tank top, the only things on their minds are their droopy drawers and their empty bellies.

If Jared Parsons succeeds with his Pimpfant line of baby clothes, there is no hope for Western Civilization, and the Pimp mentality has truly prevailed over decency and common sense.
