How To Express The Romantic Within You

Marc Sandford
Don't think you are capable of being romantic? Think again. If you've ever enjoyed your partner's reaction after having pleased her in some way, then you are a romantic at heart. If you've ever enjoyed a love song or ballad on the radio, you're a romantic.

So if a lot of men are answering yes to these two questions, why do women complain that guys aren't romantic enough? The answer is that although they have these feelings, they're either unable to express them, or feel too awkward about it. Remember that she's not asking you to express these feelings to the world at large, just to her.

Being romantic means you've got to do things that make your partner happy. What you do ought to have a little spontaneity and surprise. But there can always be exceptions to this.

Both of you can plan to do something romantic together. Here are a few suggestions on being more romantic:

1.) Make an effort to escape the routine that the two of you have settled into. People often associate romance with the beginning of a relationship because the newness of the relationship is exciting. Your relationship at the beginning was a big departure from your normal routine. Everything seemed to be new, exciting, and therefore romantic.

That romantic feeling of excitement can be rekindled again by breaking out of routine. Stop taking her out on the same old tired dating routine. Look for events and things in your local newspaper that you've never tried before and do them. Always make an effort of trying something different.

2.) Show your love in as many small ways as you can. This can mean sneaking up from behind and doing some hugging and kissing. Or leaving lots of love notes around where she's likely to find them. Put a few in one of the books that she is reading or in one of her favorite magazines.

Is she going on a trip without you (visiting her parents or business trip)? If so, then place a gift wrapped box of chocolates with a card near the bottom of her suitcase for her to discover after she's left.

3.) Shock her with something totally off the wall. Give her a romance novel that casts you and her as the main characters of the plot. Now, you can do it the hard way and write the novel yourself.

An easier way might be to download a romance novel that's in the public domain (has no copyright). Using a text editor, do an automated search and replace operation that exchanges your names with the names of the main characters (lovers). You can then print it out with a printer and have it bound with a hard cover.

To get a copyright free romance novel, go to Google and search for "romance novels" +"public domain". The downloads should be free.

To have the book bound, go to Google search for "bind a book". You'll find numerous tutorials and lots of services that'll bind it for you.

So now you've got just a few of the many ways of expressing the romantic within you. What's covered here is only the beginning. Keep working at it and it'll get easy with time.
