Like many people, I was fed up with Corporate America. For years I dreamed of owning my own online business. But I was stuck. I didn´t think legitimate at home jobs really existed. Sure, I saw all the advertisements online, but heck, I didn´t even know what a domain was. Not only that, there are so many scams online under the guise of "legitimate at home jobs." I can´t tell you how many times I´ve spent money on an advertisement online that promised I would make $15,000 in 7 days. Looking back, I realize how naïve I was. Also, those ads elicited that aspect of me that wants something for nothing. I almost became cynical in my search for legitimate at home jobs. I so badly wanted to find a program online that would actually teach me how to start my own online business from the ground up.

The Selection Process

The first thing I needed to do was get realistic. I needed to also get rid of my "something for nothing" mentality. I had to be selective about the ads I responded to and not jump in headlong simply because the ad had lots of bells and whistles. I got very clear about what I wanted. Once I made the list and got clarity, I was then able to make intelligent choices as to whether the ads I chose were relevant to my needs. So here was my list of criteria:

1) The job had to advertise as "legitimate at home jobs"

2) They could not promise overnight riches

3) The website had to have a comprehensive outline as to how it could actually help

me start my own online business and/or

4) The website had to indicate that it was able to show me how to start my own

business from the ground up

Once I had standards, the pickings became easy because those 4 criteria weeded out a lot of ads that were not advertising for legitimate at home jobs. Rather, they were advertising scams. However, I did come across a site that looked reputable from the beginning. It was informational, didn´t promise me a "get rich quick" scheme, and gave comprehensive details as to how it could help me start my own business. I had never seen a forum online that actually showed people how to start an online business without overhead cost! I was elated.

I Left Corporate America and Never Looked Back

Once I joined, I was part of a knowledgeable forum of internet marketers who supported me every step of the way. Some of them had been new to the internet marketing scene and others were pros who still needed help. This online "university" taught me how to design my own website, sell affiliate products, create single landing pages, set up a pay-per-click campaign with Google Adwords, how to do keyword research, how to use article marketing as a no-cost way to sell affiliate products and much more. I now own 2 of my own online businesses, I sell lots of affiliate products, and I work from home. I wake up when I feel like it, go to bed when I feel like it, and work in my pajamas if I choose to. No more crowded trains, no more nasty bosses, no more office politics, and no more being afraid to lose my job. All of this happened because legitimate at home jobs really do exist.
