The End of Days?
Perhaps I am overly optimistic, but I believe we are on the verge of a new age where enlightenment and responsible behavior will reshape our destiny in the years ahead. Rather than an "end of all things" I believe we have the power to alter the course of human destiny toward a positive and profound new dedication to our highest ideals. It is entirely possible that we are now required to stand up for humanity, as individuals, and speak on behalf of the future we desire for ourselves and our children.
Those who have followed my writings over several years know that I often speak of the passing Piscean Age, and the arrival of the Age of Aquarius. In previous writings on the topic, I have carefully illustrated the hallmarks of the Piscean Age were those of commerce, corporate growth, industrialization, political and religious machinations, wars on top of wars, religious persecutions, racial intolerance, and a whole range of behaviors so evident over the past 2,000 years.
It should be understood that the change from one age to the new age now emerging should be full of travail because the old Piscean mentality will not go quietly. Many of the ills we see in our world in these days of trouble are evidence of this. The Piscean mentality, and those who are motivated by the ideals of the Piscean Age, will not relent power readily, and resent the coming change that is about to unfold. The power of the few does not easily relent to the power of the many.
Proof is all around us. The attacks on the World Trade Center, the subsequent employment of 911 to consolidate power for the sitting President and his cronies holding command over all three branches of government, the subsequent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, along with the rising conflict over Iran are all characteristic of the Piscean Age. Religious overtones used to justify the most abominable behavior ever witnessed by mankind are another example. President Bush claimed that God told him to attack Iraq. You'd think God might have mentioned that Iraq had no nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction. God evidently never mentioned how badly an insurgency would bog down our efforts in Iraq, but left our President believing we would be greeted as ‘liberators”.
As I have said in past times, all this nonsense is typical of the passing of an age. The power brokers cling to the glories of the passing age in much the same way that passengers of the Titanic were seen to cling to the railings as the great ship sank. They held on because it was the only solid thing within grasp. Similarly, people will cling to the solid concepts of a passing age rather than releasing their grip to embrace an unknown future. Yet, unless we are willing to let go of a passing age as a new one takes hold, we are in peril of being swept away.
The power barons of the Piscean Age are holding on to a passing mode of behavior that is no longer sustainable. They make wars because wars have always been politically expedient in the past. They practice greed, because they are spiritually bereft. They cling to power, even as it slips through their fingers in the senseless hope it will save them from the coming tumult. It will not.
All these troubles are natural in the passing of an age. Much of that old mentality is bound up with Messianic delusion. This is easily discernible in the current threat of conflict with Iran. We have an American President who believes that by causing war and rumors of war in the Middle East, he will bring about the tribulation described in the Biblical Book of Revelation. He literally believes that he may bring about Armageddon and hasten the Second Coming of Jesus Christ! Meanwhile, the Iranian President has an equally Messianic view. He believes that war will cause the return of the 12th Iman, another Messianic figure expected to come to the aid of Iran at the end of days. It is believed that the 12th Iman will restore the power and glory of the Persian Empire. With the return of the 12th Iman, the nations arrayed against Iran would be crushed and Iran would become a new Babylon, a new world empire, victorious over every sort of infidel.
Both America and Iran are now on a collision course that can only produce destruction for both nations. One problem with Messianic figures, whether Jesus Christ or the 12th Iman is they tend to come when they are due, rather than when human beings manipulate circumstances to drag them back! Perhaps both Presidents should step away from the brink and reconsider their belief systems.
These things, however, are what one should expect in the passing of the Piscean Age. The horrors of the past will be enacted yet again, the lessons of history to be learned anew, as those in power bring terrible sorrow to their own peoples.
But is this the "End Times"? Is this the End of the World?
No. Not by a long shot.
We stand on the threshold of a new age where wisdom replaces greed, when every human being is recognized as equally sacred, where peace becomes more expedient than war, and when advances will be made for the benefit of humankind rather than the greed of corporate boards of directors.
It is the arrival of the Aquarian Age that will bring about change all over planet earth. This age will soon liberate the people of planet earth from foolish leaders, wrest power from the merchants of murder, and tear out the cancer of corruption now infecting the body of humankind.
Spiritual enlightenment is now manifesting among the citizens of planet earth. Increasingly more members of the human family are awakening as the power of delusion loses potency. Everywhere around the world people are beginning to understand that religions often are, in reality, engines of social and political control. People are beginning to understand that their political leaders use religion as a tool to seduce the foolish into horrific atrocity. Many people are now coming to realize that religion is often far different from spirituality; with religion having the form of Godliness, but lacking substance. For those who awaken, many find alternative religions. Still more are coming to an understanding that religion is nothing without spiritual emancipation. There are some who finally grasp the basic truth in the words “If what you seek, be not found within you, it shall never be found without.”
What may we expect from the coming Aquarian Age? What are the ideals that will soon manifest on this planet? What will be different about the Aquarian Age, and how will people behave?
My hope is to answer such questions in a subsequent article that should appear shortly. It will be an article that holds forth hope for a much brighter tomorrow. I will attempt to explain how we can break the hold of petroleum over American economics. I will explain relatively simple changes that can be made that will benefit humanity worldwide. In addition, we will consider how many are now breaking the bonds of religious conviction to become spiritually illuminated.
We ought never lose hope, because the new day about to dawn is wonderful, and the Age of Aquarius a time for boundless hope and progress.
Mankind is not going to perish from the earth, but instead, grow in spirit while learning to live in harmony with nature.
This is not the end of days, but the days of a new beginning.
