MUSICAL DUO GINGER AND SCOTT LAUGH AT (AND WITH) LOVE IN VALENTINE´S DAY CONCERT
You´ll hear this Jennifer Leitham original alongside classics from the Great American Songbook in "Funny Valentines for Happy Hearts," a February 14th concert fronted by vocal duo Ginger and Scott.
This humorous musical look at love, life, and how we manage to get along in spite of it all will be presented on Valentine´s Day at 8 p.m. at the historic Messiah Lutheran Church sanctuary, 570 East Orange Grove Boulevard, Pasadena (corner of Madison and Orange Grove). Tickets are $15 in advance (purchase online from Brown Paper Tickets) or $20 at the door. Kids 12 and under are $10.
The lineup of critically acclaimed musicians features Ginger Berglund on vocals, Scott Whitfield on vocals and trombone, Jennifer Leitham on bass, Roger Neumann on saxes and flute, Corey Allen on piano, and Dave Tull on drums.
Adding her own sweet notes to the festivities will be master chef Elizabeth Coffee, whose delectable desserts will be served during intermission and the post-concert reception.
Singer Berglund is delighted to be performing in her own community. While the ensemble members all are based in Southern California, they frequently tour, and local performances together are rare.
Says Berglund, "We´re taking President Obama´s encouragement to live differently to heart. We wanted to bring quality music to our own neighborhood—and we look forward to the neighborhood´s support!" She is especially happy to be appearing at Messiah Lutheran, the church where she got her early start singing in the children´s choir. "For musicians and audiences, that sanctuary is an acoustic treasure!"
The band invites community members to come enjoy an evening of fine music, fine food, chatting, mixing, and maybe even matching. Bring your Valentine, bring your family, or just bring yourself—you never know whose eyes you might meet across a crowded room.
