Obama Speeches Hit with Japanese Students
Speeches are more than words, phrases and tone. Our new President has an enormous responsibility to our country and itīs citizens, the global economy and the future of this planet. As we analyze the adversity our countryīs experiencing at this very moment, workers without jobs, families out of homes and businesses out of business, everyone is affected by the defaults of the banking industry and Wall Street. Those miscalculations have turned this ordeal, into a global recession. At the height of this irresponsibility, you have to ask yourself, why are bonuses being paid to bankers and CEOīs connected to the crisis of 2008?
We need a transition from old to new, from outdated to innovative Industries. Retooling and retraining workers for sustainable and renewable industries that will advance our country out of the worst decline in employment, this generation has ever seen. As we move forward with innovations and science, directing our best efforts towards renewable and sustainable industries, this is where jobs can be created. Jobs are the only way to stimulate the economy and most importantly save the families that are self-destructing without the income needed to provide for their families.
Take a look at the state of Iowa, who has become the 3rd largest producer of wind power, behind California and Texas. With 600 operating wind turbines, financed in part with six million dollars in no interest loans, available through the Alternate Energy Revolving Loan Program (AERLP). Along with tax breaks from the state government, that stimulated the transition in capturing one of their natural resources that wind provides and turns it into a viable industry. According to the American Wind Energy Association, wind plants throughout the country, now power the equivalent of 7.5 million average American homes.
The upcoming challenges for wind power are to develop smart transmit and storage facilities that efficiently move the power around the country, to where itīs needed in the larger cities. We want to reduce the fossil fuels that continue to pollute our air and water. Moving forward with clean energy provides new jobs, replacing the ones that have been lost.
Not one Republican in the House voted for H.R.1. That was an arrogant display with rhetoric explaining that H.R.1 needs to be more business friendly. That makes you wonder where is the compassion of these representatives? The American taxpayers just bailed out Wall Street and the banks. Thereīs also seems to be an inability to account for where that bailout money went. What happened to our country?
Instead of drawing a line in the sand with Republicans on one side and Democrats on the other, letīs start working together and making decisions that are objective, based on facts and provides clarity that will profit our country and itīs citizens. Can we lose the childish name calling and defensive attitudes from the broadcast airwaves, that does nothing beneficial to help?
As we increase our effectiveness with common sense and transparency, guiding our nation back to prosperity, we create a stronger, wiser information age that benefits the American citizen. Getting back to basics with a clear understanding of our reality, provides the right direction for everyone working together, achieving the best results.
