Kurdish Cultural Center now open in Atlanta GA

Kurdish Cultural Center is now officially opened. After a many hours of dark clouds and constant rain, suddenly as if the sky was cooperating, the rain stopped and the sun came out just in time for the festivities to begin.

Tents were setup with chairs under them. Colorful balloons filled the air. Bright and shiny signs reading Congratulations were put on display. Due to the high volume of the audience the events were carried outside in the big parking lot of the center.

People were very excited and motivated. Kurds and friends of Kurds from many different aspects of life and locations have come to witness the grand opening.

While kids were busy sliding and exhausting themselves on giant moonwalk, the speeches and congratulation letters were read.

Among the guest speakers were Dr.Gundi; president of KNC, Mr. Shirwani; representative of KRG, Mr. Sarkis; Armenian Community and ANCA representative in GA, Mr. Flores; Georgia State University Bio-Bus, Mr. Ibrahim; KCI in Nashville, Mr. Duval; Jim Martin senate campaign VA manager, Mr. Kamaran; USA CHAK representative, Mr. Brady; Soulbird, Mr. Sameen; KYC Nashville.

On Behalf of the board of Kurdish Cultural Center, Ara Alan explained the main objectives of the center to be a location to provide resources on those who are interested on learning about the Kurds. The center will offer Kurdish classes (Sorani and Kirmanji dialects for both Kids and adult), English classes, Music and Art. The center's secondary objective is to serve as a community and gathering place for all Kurds. Ara Alan also clarified that Kurdish Cultural Center is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization. With hands on activity Mr. Alan explained that the Center is a community's work to bring it to life and it requires everyone's help to maintain it.

Mr. Mahdi, Mr. Ameen, Mr. Omer, Mr.and Kemdino, all spoke on the importance of the community contribution to the center.

A name drawing of all the kids present at the event was taken and Saleh, a Kurdish Kid was the winner and he was given the honor of cutting the ribbon to the center. People all followed in to be surprised with a buffet of food, varying from salad to lamb, and gyros.

The festivities continued with music and singing from Mrs. Dougur, Mr. Sherzad, Mr. Aras, and music by Mr. Makwan. People celebrated, danced and socialized until late in the evening.

Kurdish Cultural Center is open every day from 4:00-8:00pm and weekends on 12:00-8:00pm. They welcome support from anyone especially donations books or financial.
