Somali American Groups expect to President Obama To help Bring peace in Somalia.

Mahdi Haile
We the Center For Somali Solutions International a Somali American Diaspora organization expect that President Brack Obama, to help bring peace and be supportive of the concerns of Somali Americans , especially of the continuing suffering of our friends and families in Somalia. We are dismayed by the continuing civil war. We are sure that he is as concerned as we are about the destruction of the Somali people.

Senator Russ Feingold of Wisconsin a member of the Senate Foreign relations committee and chairman of African affairs and is a supporter of Obama. Senator Feingold, a supportive of the Somali issues, says said "We have been increasingly concerned with the Bush administration´s failure to develop a comprehensive strategy to stabilize Somalia has allowed this crisis to fester and threats to grow. We need a plan to help bring stability and defeat extremism in this critical region of the world." President Obama, and Secretary Clinton who has spoken of the "vicious civil wars in Africa," will certainly be influenced by Senator Feingold´s opinions, which we think are shared by most of the Democratic Party.

In April 29/08 Senator Feingold introduced a resolution to refocus on US Commitment to Building a Stable Somalia. he traveled to Djibouti and met the leaders of TFG and ARS to discuss the peace agreement held in Djibouti and power sharing arrangements. he led a group of legislators who wrote to President Bush and Secretary of State Rice urging them to appoint US special envoy to Somalia "a high-level official with access to Bush and the secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice, and a ´clear´ mandate to increase monitoring other situation of Somalia." Senator Feingold is a long-time Somali expert, and we are confident that his concerns about Somalia will be communicated to the 44th president, Mr. Obama.

Somalis are weary of waiting for a reasonable policy for Somalia. We are saddened the statement from New US Ambassador to United Nations Susana Rice that said that she has given up the hope of finding UN peace keeping forces to Somalia.

We support every good effort for president Obama to stabilize Somalia in because we agree with him that the Somali conflict and l war should be resolved. We are confident that President Obama will use the influence of the US to achieve a political settlement that will end the civil war and allow all Somalis to live in peace.

We urge the 44th president of the Unite States, Mr. Obama, to take a strong hand in resolving this civil war. Perhaps he could bring th Somali groups together and make this current effort in Djibouti succeed., like President bush did with the Liberia, and force a solution to the Somali Conflict. The International community has not taken any action to resolve this vicious civil war for the last 18 years, and we believe they will take no action unless US leads that action.

The solution to the Somalis problem could be based on the Liberian Model or on one of the many others like Sierra Leon or Kosovo. We might be able to utilize Senator Feingold and Somali expertise to bring peace to Somalia.

There are many more potential Somalis experts, peace and conflict resolution professors and envoys or mediators we can find in the U.S.,

There are many problems in the world that will demand President Obama´s attention. We Somali Diaspora are looking forward to the day when he turns his hand to solving them. We trust that Somali´s civil war will be among them. We offer him our wholehearted support and look forward to seeing his foreign policy develop in his administration.

We emphasize that peace in Somalia would give Somalis) a better chance to improve their lives in a stable environment.

We feel that this is one important change that we can believe in.
