PSP Owner? - How Do You Download Music Onto Your PSP
If you are trying to figure out how to download music into the PlayStation Portable or PSP, there are some things you have to consider beforehand. First of all, you need to bear in mind that these instructions are appropriate for a Windows-based personal computer only and not for other types of computers. Secondly, Windows Media formats are not acceptable audio file formats for the older firmware of certain PSP units. (Firmware acts as the "operating system" of your PSP).
Here are the steps to follow:
1. Look for a USB cable that can be connected appropriately for your PSP and your personal computer. This type of USB cable may cost you 10 US dollars apiece.
2. Look for a small button on the lower left of your PSP screen that functions as the home button. Press on that button.
3. Search for the "Settings" command using the left and right directional buttons. Press on the up and down directional buttons to find your PSP "USB Connection" command.
4. Wait a few seconds until your PSP screen informs you that a new USB device is now connected to it. A generic hard drive such as either E: or F: will probably be displayed for you.
5. Use the generic hard drive which will be used by your PSP device and click on it.
6. You can now make a new folder that you will label "PSP".
7. Open the "PSP" folder then make a brand new folder to be labeled "MUSIC."
8. You may now copy the music files you like into the "MUSIC" folder.
9. You may leave the USB mode by pressing on the "O" button.
10. Try manipulating the left and right arrows so you can visit the "MUSIC" area then move the up and down arrows to search for "Memory Stick." You may select the folder simply by pressing down on the "X" button.
11. Look for the music file you want.
12. Bear in mind that if you are using older firmware, you may need to change music files in the Windows Media file formats into the MP3 file format first, probably by using the Sony Image Converter 2.1 program. However, if you are using more advanced firmware, that will allow you to use even audio files in the Windows Media file formats.
Now, when scouting around for the right music to play, it is very important to respect the copyright of the artist and the song that you will be downloading and playing. This means that you really have to hunt for legal sources of PSP-compatible music first. You can always ask if the site pays royalties to the artist and music label that owns the song to see if they are a legally operating site. An illegal site is one that never pays any royalties for the music they let you download, regardless of format. An ethical person does not use these illegal sites even though they may let you download music at real cheap rates. Visit PSP Downloads Made Easy Blog at http://psp-downloads-madeeasy.blogspot.com
