A look through the mist
When ever any reference is made to Jammu & Kashmir State of India ( Princely State of Maharaja Hari Singh ) ,this day , it is so casually taken as a simple reference to Kashmir Valley only. Where as Kashmir Valley is just one of the arms of the "J&K Triangle". In view of mass migration of Hindu from Valley after 1989 a fair picture of population of J&K can be had only from 1981 census. Population of Kashmir , Jammu and Ladakh Regions was 3134909, 2718113 and 134372 respectably and the present area of Kashmir , Jammu and Ladakh Regions is 15948 sq km, 26293 sq km and 96701 sq km respectably. Kashmir Valley came with Jammu State only in 1846. The separatists do not have any public display or settlement in Jammu Region. There is another small triangle with in Kashmir Valley with one arm as total Pro accession elements, the other being of groups like PDP/ Moulvi Farooq/ Shabir Shah/ ANC and the third one of the JKLF/ direct foreign aided and abetted separatists/ Jamaat e Islami etc ; and the innocent confused masses are suffocating in the core of Valley triangle. Indian Government has been working with a policy that looks only at Valley and appeasement of Kashmiri majority community . Some pro India Kashmiri leaders did sermon that it is better question the intentions of GOI for obtaining favours and attention.
What ever may be the occasion what ever may be the reference, what matters is who is saying what and in what atmosphere. Rather there is a need to first take to the way " J&K should be seen this day". The Indian as well as local Kashmiri leadership has this day landed itself in a situation where the vote race in Kashmir can not be easily won with out talking of alleged injustice done to Kashmiries since 1947 by India . Jammu and Ladakh Regions have so far been not given legitimate weightage. People of Kashmir Valley have regularly questioned the intentions of Bharat Sarkar and GOI has been extending all first favors to Valley. .
J&K Triangle Today ::::::
The base of the J&K Triangle is Jammu Region. Ladakh Region is area wise the largest region of Jammu & Kashmir.But Jammu region could be called the largest economic cum civic region of J&K .It has about 70 % more area than Kashmir valley and has a well distributed population mix; and has most of the commercial forest wealth and hydel power potential. The Hindu and Muslim of Jammu region have so far not raised any religion based ambitions and even during the times ( before Oct 1947 ) of Hari Singh majority did not endorse the two nation theory and had more affinity towards Congress. Linguistic segments of Jammu Province were/ are more near to each other and muslims of region are more near to Dogra and Punjabi traditions.No party or group of this arm ( Jammu Region ) have so far raised significant voice against the 1947 accession nor any group has publically carried pro Pakistan activity. No doubt the Valley centric main stream political parties (even Congress ) have attempted religious cards for votes in belts of Doda, Rajouri, Poonch ( Jammu region ) but anti India cards have not worked in this region. In 2004 Madan Lal Sharma got elected from Jammu Poonch Rajouri and Lal Singh from the Kathua Udhampur Doda Lok Sabha segments. In the past from both these segments BJP candidates have been sent to Lok Sabha. National Conference that totally holds to 1947 Accession of J&K with India has a strong footing in Jammu Region because of commitment of Dr. Farooq Abdullah to Indian Nationality.
Jammu Region has another face as well that has remained unknown to the out side world. Over 90 % of October 1947 Displaced persons from Pakistan Occupied J&K are in Jammu region . Similarly 99 % of the refugees who came to J&K (India ) from West Pakistan are also in Jammu region. Demands have been raised from Jammu Region for dividing J&K into three parts, the State of Jammu ( 10 districts ),the State of Kashmir (10 districts) and Union Territory of Ladakh (2 districts ). Some of the Kashmiri separatist leaders are attempting to divide the people of ( muslim majority areas in Jammu Region ) and if taken lightly they may succeed to communalize some areas as they did in valley against Kashmiri Pundits.
The Left arm of the triangle is Kashmir Valley. :: Kashmir Valley has always been the center of political controversies. The separatist / anti India / confusing view points have been allowed to grow in Kashmir valley.The recent unmindful handling of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board land case by Ghulam Nabi Azad Government, handing over the issue to separatist elements by the J&K People´s Democratic Party leadership ( MUFTI) ; and the National Conference leadership too not outrightly speaking against the separatist slogans in Kashmir Valley clearly support the inference. The Valley of today is practically free of the Hindu population. Local Hindu from Kashmir Valley is ousted from valley for over 20 years. They form about 7 lac of the J&K Population at to days standards. Migrant Kashmiri do not want Pakistan but demand a separate STATE for Kashmir Hindu ( Panun Kashmir ) out of Kashmir Valley. This is more to register their rights on the Valley / Affairs of J&K as Indian
Broadly the political groups in valley could be classified in four : 1. Those who hold to 1947 Accession in totality. National Conference ( Farooq Abdullah ) could be undoubtedly counted in this. Mufti has to remain in race with National Conference in painting Kashmiri muslims as more special subjects of State. Hence PDP explores indirect methods to exploit Kashmiri muslims by suggesting even what appear negating the Accession. But it is sure that Mufti Sayeed /his party can not dare to defy the 1947 accession. Though National Conference forms the 2/3rd of this arm (Valley Arm) and holds fast to Indian nationality , still as on date under the circumstances that Indian leadership has made J&K to land in, a small part of the "third arm" ( separatists / their over ground supporters ) have gained some notorious fame .It needs careful handling .The leaders like Mirwaiz Omar Farooq ( Awami Action Committee ), Maulana Abbas Ansari ( Ittihad ul Musilimeen ), Bilal Gani Lone ( Peoples Conference ), Sajjad Ahd Lone ( Peoples conference ), Prof Abdul Ghani Bhat ( Muslim Conference ), S. Hameed ( Peoples League ) , Shabir Ahmd Shah ( J&K Demcratic Freedom Party , Ghulam M. Shah ( Awami National Conference ), Mohd Yusaf Tarigami ( CPI –M ) will have to be put in a proper place (but their place is surely not any where near to National Conference ). Most of them have been made to survive comfortably raising anti Accession slogans . But they well know in their hearts that they can not win a place for J&K ( Kashmir Valley) outside India nor can they survive honourably in Pakistan ( but still since they are supported in cash by the enemies of India and anti India stance is on date more paying for them they would keep on black mailing weak governments at Delhi by approaching foreign organizations like OIC ). Sayeed ali Shah Geeli and his Jamaat e Islami wants Kashmir to go with Pakistan and declare that they will vote for Pakistan if there is plebiscite. The Yasin Malik ( JKLF ) lead Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front ( earlier Kashmir Liberation Front ) started with independent State of Kashmir only and now is for Independent Jammu & Kashmir & ask for Pakistan to also vacate POK ). Mirwaiz Moulvi Farooq lead group limited geographically in Srinagar is not clear in the ideology except that they talk of Kashmiriat and rights of Kashmiri. It is certain that the day the so called united separatists / anti Accession elements / Hurriryat etc come on a local democratic platform, they will split since they have only anti India agenda as a uniting force .The pro separatist leaders in valley will keep on cashing till the miss informed innocent masses and new youth of Kashmiri Muslims is attended from very near by the main stream parties by working on ground . The innocent masses need be informed about he wrongs of the information so far passed on as well the unknown goods of the Indian nationality Ofcourse return of Hindu to Valley is must for reconstruction since problem is not economic Since the anti propaganda has consumed 50 years for setting roots in Kashmir Valley ,the corrections would also take atleast 5 years of sincere work.

This region has never disputed the 1947 accession of J&K with India and has never substantially provided cadres to the separatist..The pro India and pro accession people of this region have grievances against Government of India for giving more attention to Kashmir Valley in comparison to Ladakh Region. They are judiciously demanding settlement in a Union Territory status.
