CALIFORNIANS FOR ROCKY REACHES $1 MILLION MARK IN UNDER 100 DAYS

Californians for Rocky, the campaign committee for Rocky Delgadillo's campaign for California Attorney General, announced today that it has surpassed the $1 million fundraising mark in under 100 days.

This is just the beginning, but the early success of Rocky's fundraising efforts demonstrates the faith his supporters have in him,” said Campaign Manager Josh Pulliam. “The vitality of this support is a testament to Rocky's leadership abilities and the strength of his personal story. There is no doubt Rocky will have the backing to score a major upset victory.”

The brisk statewide support Delgadillo has attracted makes him a serious contender in his bid to be the State's Top Cop. In contrast, it took Delgadillo’s primary opponent, Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown, twice as long to raise his first million for the Attorney General race.

Delgadillo has already demonstrated significant fundraising muscle, raising more than $4.3 million over the past four years alone. $3.3 million came during his successful campaigns for Los Angeles City Attorney.

Californians for Rocky filed as a campaign committee in late March and began raising funds shortly thereafter. His support comes from people all across the state.

In 2001, Rocky became the highest ranking Latino elected to city-wide office in Los Angeles in over 100 years. Delgadillo's huge upset victory brought together a diverse coalition of African American, Jewish, Valley Republican, Westside progressive, and Latino voters. In March 2005, Delgadillo, a Democrat, faced no opposition in his bid for re-election.

National Journal's Hotline has called Delgadillo “The New Latino Democratic Star” and Roll-Call wrote, “It's hard to find a political observer in the Golden State who doesn't think he has the brightest of political futures.”

Before Delgadillo became L.A. City Attorney, he served as Deputy Mayor for Economic Development in the Riordan Administration, Director of Business Development for Rebuild L.A. and senior attorney at O'Melveny & Myers. Delgadillo was born and raised in the Highland Park community of Los Angeles. He earned a scholarship to Harvard University, graduated with honors, and received his law degree from Columbia Law School.
