New Years Goal: Deal with Annoying Co-Workers through Personal Responsibility by Marsha Petrie Sue

Marsha Petrie Sue
New Years Resolutions abound with good intentions. But you don't always manage the jerks you have to work with!

I love to be interviewed by magazines about difficult behavior and toxic people. My goal is to help people with tactics and ideas on how to approach the old situations with new vigor and success. Here is a link to the articles that ran in Cosmo International (aka Cosmo Magazine). Sara Eckel, the author of the article, did a great job on giving you some new fresh ideas, along of course, with my perspective of communicating to be more effective and get better results.

Here are some other New Year Resolutions to consider:

1. Identify the type of toxic behavior displayed: Backstabber, know-it-all, steamroller, needy weenie, whine and cheeser, or zipper lip.

2. What kind of behavior are you displaying when these people start on their negative diatribe?

3. Decide that you will stay calm and now buy into their ugly behavior.

4. Communicate in an assertive fashion and consider saying, "You maybe right. Help me understand where you are coming from" without sarcasm.

5. Call a time out if they are displaying idiotic behavior and set a time to resolve the situation.
