Feng Shui Gifts Ideal for Holiday Giving

Pat Heydlauff
Tired of shopping for the same old holiday gifts this season? Don´t have as much money to spend as last year and really don´t want to use plastic? Forget about the traditional tie for dad, sweater for mom or CD for your sibling. Why not try something a little different, and best of all, inexpensive?

Many people are tired of spending so much money on meaningless gifts each year that may or may not be enjoyed or appreciated by the recipient. A Feng Shui gift is both meaningful and unique, and can be purchased on a tight budget. Plus, it will give the recipient some much-needed positive energy during these tough times.

But before you shop, think of the recipient first and what would please them instead of what you think they should have. Rather than buying something just because it´s beautiful, useful or memorable, focus on whether it will have the intended effect on the receiver – will he or she love it, treasure it or find it useful?

The giving or exchanging of gifts should be a mutually enjoyable occasion. It should not matter whether you are simply giving a person a gift because they are special or if there is a gift exchange happening. What does matter is that an uplifting joy filled event takes place with each person receiving positive energy. The giver of the gift will automatically receive positive energy if the recipient loves their gift. And, the recipient will love their gift if you´ve done your homework.

5 Inexpensive Feng Shui Gifts

Now that you are ready to shop, try some of the following ideas for finding the perfect Feng Shui gift that will be remembered and appreciated long after the decorations are packed away:

Create a money pot by purchasing a small wooden container and placing seven silver dollar coins in it. This should be set up in the southeast area of their living room or an office to enhance the prosperity and income of the recipient. It would be a perfect gift for a loved one, a business colleague, boss or client.

Buy some wind chimes to hang near the front door to encourage new energy to enter their home. A hand-tuned wind chime or one made of bamboo will have a soothing sound that not only welcomes positive energy and guests but the soothing sound creates calm.

Find Feng Shui, Yoga or Meditation music online or in a local shop. This kind of music lifts the spirit, helps eliminate stress and nourishes the soul.

Purchase an inexpensive photo album and fill it with photos of the recipient with family members and friends or create a collage filled with years of happiness. He or she will truly appreciate the gesture and the fond memories it represents. Hang it for them in the northeast corner of their family room to bring them helpful people energy.

Since gift giving is all about relationships, especially your relationship with the recipient, a gift that is symbolic of a good relationship is perfect, such as two tickets to a movie or concert that you can share or a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant.

Giving the right kind of gift isn´t about spending a ton of money. It is about focusing on the recipient´s preferences and the meaning of the gift, rather than the price tag.

When it comes to gift giving the basic principle of Feng Shui really applies. You want to use positive energy (the giving of a gift) to bring about a desired result (nurturing, loving and uplifting energy for the recipient). If they love, want or need the gift you have chosen, you have also given them real joy and at the same time will receive genuine uplifting energy in return.
