Reverse Phonebooks? Do These Exist Online?

Greg Wilson
Have you ever heard of a service known as a reverse phone lookup? If you haven´t, what you need to know is that it is a resource that enables you to search a telephone directory through a ten digit number. You don´t need to know the phone owner´s name, just the string of numerals that consists of the area code, prefix and line number. This is the type of data you can obtain with caller ID, by call return, or if it´s been recorded down somewhere.

Do these type of lookups actually exist? Yes. You can find places on the Internet that offer this type of service. Some of the search sites are actually free, but this is really only true of those that offer information for landlines that are published in the public phone directory. The facts that can be found at no charge consist of the phone owner´s name, mailing address, telephone provider and line type. Basically the information you will be given access to, is the same info you would find within the hardcopy white and yellow pages.

That said, online lookups are not exclusive to published landline numbers, you can also trace cellphone numbers and find out some details about wireless owners. The problem, however, is that because there is no universal directory as there is for listed wire lines, there is more than one private database out there, and each varies in size. Some listings are bigger than others, and contain the indexes of a variety of providers instead of only a few. Therefore, though mobile traces do exist, you need to do a little investigating into the company offering them instead of making a random choice.

You also need to know that though a reverse cellular phonebook can be accessed online, this access is not free. The cost is minimal, and is typically charged as a convenience fee, because the company who has created the directory has had to pay for the contents and has taken the time to organize it and keep it up to date.

Nevertheless, now that you are aware that a reverse phonebook directory can be found on the net, you can use it any time you wish.
