LA Gang Peace Negotiator Asked 'How many of the gang members you deal with live with their fathers?'
One of the interesting people we met at the ceremony was Dr. Perry Crouch, a gang intervention specialist in South-Central Los Angeles. Dr. Crouch has negotiated peace treaties between warring gangs. What a tough job--I told him maybe he should be Obama's new Secretary of State.
Predictably, I asked Dr. Crouch, "How many of the gang members you deal with live with their fathers?"
Dr. Crouch thought about it for quite a while, turned to me and said, "About 1/2 of one percent."
