The Duke University Rape Case In Black And White
Two Caucasian students have been charged with kidnapping and raping an African-American woman, who was hired to strip at a party held by Duke University lacrosse players in a house of campus.
Normally I don't describe the ethnicity of participants in a news story, but in this case it all boils down to race.
In almost every press account of this story the alleged victim has been described as an "exotic dancer."
The alleged victim is neither exotic nor a dancer, she is a run-of-the mill stripper who will never be a contestant on "Dancing With The Stars."
There is nothing exotic about stripping butt-nekkid and performing lap dances. And while I'm on the subject of using words improperly, grinding your rear end in the lap of a stranger is not exactly dancing.
It is no coincidence that the American press uniformly describes the alleged victim as an "exotic dancer." Because the woman is black, the press bends over backwards to be politically correct, they do their utmost to portray her in the best possible way.
The fact is that the accuser is a stripper who left the party "passed out drunk" in the words of a police officer. The accuser is no Mother Teresa, she is a drunk stripper with a criminal background.
However, none of that makes any difference if there is any truth to her allegation. The two Duke students were indicted by a grand jury, but a grand jury would convict a ham sandwich, as the old saying goes.
There is no DNA or any other kind of evidence to show that a rape took place. In fact, one of the accused students has an air-tight alibi, there are credit card receipts showing that he wasn't even at the party at the time that the alleged rape took place.
That being said I have little sympathy for the Duke players, anytime you invite a stripper into your home, you are inviting trouble. A woman who sees nothing wrong with getting naked and giving lap dances to strangers, won't bat a false eyelash at making false accusations for revenge, money or attention.
Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and the other spotlight-loving civil rights leaders should remember Tawana Brawley, and expend their energies representing the many real victims of racism.
The drunk stripper, with no evidence to back her claims of rape, doesn't deserve the attention of a prosecutor, civil rights leaders or anybody else.
