Kurds rallied up for Jim Martin in Georgia elections
Jim Martin surpassed many more expectations by bringing the election down to a runoff and imposed a real threat to the republican strong hold in Georgia. Republicans from all across United states where forced to come to Georgia, in aid of Saxby. Big shots like Mitt Romney, Giuliani, John McCain, and Sarah Palin.
Kurds for Martin played their role in this election. Through their well organized Kurds for OBAMA group, they gathered and rallied up support for Martin's Campaign. Many of the volunteers were calling Georgia Democrats from their home States including Arizona, Tennessee, California, Michigan, Florida, Virginia, and Washington DC. Members living in Georgia were phone banking at the democratic headquarters. They also got in contact with the Kurdish community in Atlanta and urged them to go out and vote for Jim Martin on December 2nd.
Representatives of the Kurds for Martin group were at the headquarters waiting with the election staff, Obama and Martin volunteers, for the results. The atmosphere was relaxing and as one of the staff put it: the results will not be surprising either way.
Although this election didn't yield winning of Martin to the senate seat as the members of Kurds for Obama hoped, it did add another chapter of vigorous involvement of the Kurds in US election and once again demonstrated their ability to play an active role. This campaign helped build many bridges, and nurtured new friendships with fellow Americans who believe in similar values of equality, freedom and justice.
Much appreciation and thanks are given to all those wonderful, dedicated and motivated Kurdish Americans who came forward on short notice. Volunteers that re-organized themselves after months of hard work campaign for OBAMA/BIDEN ticket. They re-organized to support the president and vice-president elect through their support for Jim Martin. Kurds for OBAMA representatives met with Jim Martin. Martin was very appreciative of the hard work and time dedicated by the Kurdish Americans who supported his campaign.
