Some Things Might Seem Easy In Theory Only

Judy Ramsook
Life is filled with challenges and tasks. Some of these tasks and challenges may be easy, while others may just seem easy in theory only. Below are just a few of the things that may seem easy, in theory only.

Engaging in manual labour if one does not like it or have a knack for it. If one wants to do this type of work, he or she will have to tolerate certain things, such as harsh weather conditions, and insects.

Watching some one else pull out weeds from a garden may look easy, but when one who has never done that type of work starts doing it, he might think otherwise, and might even be thankful to his gardener for liking and having a knack for what he or she does so well.

Invading a Third World country and thinking that nation and its hardened criminal masterminds and or rebels can be overcome in a mere two weeks tops.

If some powerful nation invades your country, rebel or not, wouldn’t you want to fight for what is left of your country? No matter how perfect such a plan can appear, it might seem easy in theory.

Writing. Some people think all a writer has to do is whip out his or her writing pad, or MS Word program and begin writing about whatever.

If some such persons could witness what a writer does when he or she has to edit, rewrite, cut or delete parts of a manuscript, they might rethink their theory of how easy they think writing actually is. Or they should be there when a writer is suffering from a case of writer’s block.

Most people don’t like us for who we are once they get to know us. They try to alter or change something about us so we can be more like the person they want us to be.

Have you ever tried to change some quality about some one, but got the feeling the minute you turned your back, that person reverted to the old habit, the one you are trying to break him or her out of? This is one thing that really sounds easier in theory only.

People should seek out the persons who already have all the admirable qualities they are looking for in an individual.

Trying to change some one to be more like the person you want them to be can be time consuming, exhausting and after all that, the relationship might not work anyway. For it won’t take that individual long to realise you don’t like him or her for who he or she is.

We all come into this world with different skills, likes and dislikes. Just because some one is observing how easy a certain task is does not necessarily mean that particular task is easy for everyone.

That task might be easy for the person who is performing the task, for he has the skill and a likeness for it. For the rest of us whose skills lie elsewhere, such things only look easy, in theory only.
