Texarkana, Texas Lap Band surgeons chosen to train other surgeons in weight loss surgery

Dr. Ron Hekier and Dr. Rachael Keilin have been chosen by the Allergan Corporation to be proctors for Lap Band surgery and have been certified to train other surgeons in this weight loss surgery procedure. They have performed nearly 1000 Lap Band procedures and are in their fifth year of performing the Lap Band procedure in Texarkana, Texas. Their program has been designated as a bariatric surgery center of excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, as a bariatric surgery center of distinction by the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Association, and as a bariatric surgery center of excellence by Optum Health. "We are honored who have been selected and certified as proctors by Allergan. Many years ago we chose the Lap Band as our weight loss surgical procedure of choice, as it is statistically safer than other choices out there such as gastric bypass or other more invasive options, " says Dr. Ron Hekier.
