Causes of Cellulite - Things You Have to Know
Causes
The dimpled appearance is a normal feature in which many human beings look. The extent to which cellulite is visible and present depends on the various factors like skin thickness, heredity, gender, distribution of fat in the body, age and other physical factors. Even men can get affected by cellulite. Cellulite can be found in people living all over the world. Excess fat is not responsible for cellulite, even skinny people have cellulite. There are many theories that have been proposed explaining causes of cellulite. The fat cells surround the connective collagen. The lymph fluid running through the tissue accumulates as the circulation decreases in that particular area. This results compression in the fat cells and lumps are formed due to hardening and become visible through the skin. Causes of cellulite vary from person to person.
Some experts believe that individual's lifestyle is also responsible for causes of cellulite. Lifestyle factors may include high toxins in the body present due to excessive consumption of alcohol, smoking, caffeine etc. lack of physical exercise multiplies the chances of cellulite, as aging causes reduction in thickness of the connective tissue within superficial fat layer and the dermis. The functioning of dermis causes anchoring of fibres to the muscle. Fat cells occupy the gap between muscle and skin.
Factors that cause cellulite
Skin tone, structure of the skin, X-Shaped bands, fat accumulation, and women having different bands is few factors that cause cellulite. Fibrous bands combine the skin with deeper tissues like muscle or facia. These bands are perpendicular to skin in case of men, whereas these bands are in X formation. These patterns trap the fats in the skin, so the trapped fat drives on the skin. These little bands are very strong and inflexible. So they pressurize the skin and give tufting effect on fat and the skin. Another theory can be stated as 23 day rotation of birth then growth and eventually death that starts in the skin. New cells that form are circular and stacked with fluid.
As they travel towards skin's surface, the fluid decreases and become flat and elongated. As the cells move towards external layer of the dermis, they wither out due to rubbing or washing. As the skin consists of elastic fibres, shaped like Xs in case of women, these fibres offer bounce or resilience to the skin. Beneath these fibres glands are present that produce sebum, a fatty substance that gets secreted through sebaceous glands. Many of these glands have opening at the hair follicles. These glands are responsible to produce sweat glands, nerve endings, blood vessels and body's moisturiser which depend on proper functioning dermis. Building up of dead cells clock the skin and sweat is trapped in the skin causing accumulation of fat, which causes the skin to bulge. These are the causes of cellulite that have been explained scientifically.
