Ertalyte is a polymer manufactured by Quadrant Engineering Plastics. It is a brilliant option for close tolerance parts. Ertalyte is available as sheets, rods and plates and is manufactured from proprietary resin grades. Ertalyte is unreinforced and semi crystalline thermoplastic polyester that is basically a polyethylene terephthalate. It is considered to have a good dimensional stability along with superb wear resistance. It can be characterized by having a low friction coefficient, high tensile strength, and being chemical resistant. Its properties make it ideal for manufacturing many mechanical parts that can withstand heavy loads and does not get worn away easily. The service temperature of ertalyte is about 100°C and it melts down at approximately 105°F above the melting point of acetals.
Ertalyte is actually good to use for wet as well as dry surroundings. It has high strength and is very rigid. Therefore it is suitable to make close tolerance parts.
