Politics and Christianity
Somehow, liberals and Democrats, those two are not synonymous by the way, have mistakenly been viewed by Republicans and religionists (again not synonymous) as members of the anti-Christ racquetball club. Why is that? What has happened?
The moral judgments of our current President are no less severe than President Clinton?s poor misjudgments in a Whitehouse closet. In fact, Bill fornicated; whereas, our current President has committed the crime of deceit, a moral judgment which has killed nearly 2400 soldiers and countless civilians. Which moral judgment is worse?
Our nation turns its back on the wrongs committed by our current administration holding to the firm belief that we are now a safer nation because we are led by a friend of Jerry Falwell?s, a belief that has a few holes in it. Is Bill considered a lesser man because he wasn?t a fundamentalist Christian or a born-againer, can you say Amen? How have we somehow grasped this idea that Christianity or Christians are the politically correct belief system in this country? Who made that decision? No one.
Personally, I have no ?religious? belief system, yet I still hold onto values and a few morals. My parents taught me to open doors for women, to help old ladies cross the street, and to be nonjudgmental towards ethnicity and social standings. Many people have learned these things without the assistance of Christianity. Religion holds no monopoly on kindness, compassion, and love. To the contrary, often religion is the root to negativity. Religions have started wars, have turned brother against brother, and have chased witches around Salem. Keep your religion in your hearts and not in the voting booth.
