Searching for Telephone Numbers in Reverse

Greg Wilson
Most people tend to know someone before they call them, but this isn´t always the case. After all, how many times have you received calls from a person you don´t know, or have discovered missed calls that feature numbers you don´t recognize? Since there are literally millions of telephone consumers in the U.S. alone, the chances are you will receive plenty of communications from people you´ve never met before in your life.

There are a number of reasons why there are so many unauthorized telephone calls. Some of which include:

Innocent wrong number situations – It is quite possible that the telephone numbers that have been assigned to you or your household once belonged to another individual. Therefore, it is only natural that you will receive calls from people looking for that other person, not knowing their number has changed. In addition, it´s not uncommon for someone to accidentally dial the wrong numerical code, especially if they are entering the number in a hurry, or have written it down wrong. However, usually with these unintentional calls, after they occur once, the same person will not bother you again.

Telemarketers – Solicitors will call your number if they buy a list of numbers on which yours is included. You will also receive calls from sales representatives when you establish a business relationship with a company when you purchase a product or service from them. To stop cold telemarketing calls you can sign up for the National Do Not Call Registry, and you can even stop them by letting the caller know that you want to be placed on their internal do-not-call list, which they are suppose to maintain by law. If a telemarketer fails to comply with your request, you then have the right to complain.

Pranksters and other unscrupulous callers – Sometimes people obtain your number for the purpose of being a nuisance, and only want to bother you for their own amusement or because they are holding a grudge. Any from of harassing call should be taken seriously and if you or anyone else in your home is threatened the authorities should be notified.

Despite why an unauthorized call may occur, remember that a reverse telephone search can help you find out who this person is.
