SICK PUPPIES

We often forget that dogs also get sick and ignore the symptoms. Most of the time we see the problem only after it has become too late. Owners must be aware of the dog´s behavior when they are sick and take them for medical checks regularly. We know that a puppy is sick when:
it doesn´t eat: the puppy will; move away from its bowl and refuse to eat food after smelling it.
hides from the owners: the puppy will hide under the sofa or table or retreat to a corner in the house where it is dark and quite.
can´t hear: the puppy will not answer to your calls and will remain in the corner or in hiding.
drinks more water: the puppy will also drink more water than usual.
continuously searches for affection but becomes irritated easily: the puppy will come to you and rub against you but when you pet it or show your affection. It will suddenly become irritated and aggressive.
Other symptoms are shortness of breath, vomiting, twitching ears, discharge or odor from the ears, and odor from the nose and mouth. This odor will be unnatural and will be unpleasant.
The causes of the sickness can be various. Their bodies are weak and therefore they may be easily affected by diseases. Their tender age also makes it difficult to try all treatment on them. Because they are still getting vaccinations or are mostly yet to get vaccinated, their immune system is low. The owners need to be very attentive to these puppies for sale and observe them carefully just like we observe human babies. The owner needs to immediately contact a vet in case of noticing symptoms of illness in the puppy.
Puppy may be sick because of dehydration or diarrhea and even these minor sicknesses can cause them death. Dehydration can kill a puppy very fast and is often caused from loose stools. Puppies have very sensitive eyes and require regular attention for puppy growth and development. Older dogs may be easier to treat but while treating puppies the owner will have to be really careful. If the owner is sure that the problem can be taken care of at home, then it can be done so but the owner must be sure of what he/she is doing. In case of any doubt, the owner must take the puppy to a vet. It is best that while sick, the puppy is kept in a closed and warm pad and the diet is well take care of for puppy weight.
